DONT HATE MY GOAT
It's so cool that they finally brought Starfy over, but the fact that they didn't even bother to translate the games is super disappointing.
It's very lazy, but it's not the first time Nintendo's done something lazy in recent years. Super Mario 3D All-Stars was pretty lazy, and before that there was the even lazier port of the original Super Mario All-Stars for the Wii. They didn't bother to update anything at all, but it came with a special booklet and a CD soundtrack or something. Thanks a lot Nintendo.
Yes absolutely.....Minus no translation though....But I'll take it if I would say so. Staffy, much like Hamtaro, are two franchises that completely went under the radar for many, and it's sad considering my older siblings and I played the heck out of them back in the early 2000s.
Eh, you don't want Nintendo of America to translate them.
@@ElAssoWipe-oLmao you are obsessed with noa and treehouse
@@cyanideOwO LMAO you are a fanboy and like harming kids.
Nuh uh no Starfy slander in this house
Nintendo ran out of games? Considering they've yet to release Wario Land 4, Mario Golf: Advance Tour, Mario Tennis: Power Tour, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, and Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, that's definitely not the case. Even if this is sarcasm at play, I don't like the idea of dunking on a genuinely fun and underrated game series just because it's relatively obscure by today's standards. Like, imagine if and when they drop Drill Dozer on the service, that's also an underrated gem. Does it deserve to be crapped on just because it's not one of the more popular, well-known titles? I don't thinks so.
don't diss on starfy, I own 3 and 4 and they are awesome
Stafy are great games. We should be lucky we got them at all. This is why I learned to read Japanese years ago because Nintendo and other companies always save the good stuff for Japan.
Starfy is actually a pretty good game. Hop off the goat bruh
4:47 "they're running out of stuff"... like, nine games in on GBA. lol.
How dare you not know much about STARFY omg 😂For that I’m gonna a tattoo of STARFY on my butt cheek
Literally everyone likes Starfy
Nintendo fans when they see a niche and fun little game that isnt Mario, Zelda, or Pokémon.
does this guy ever have good takes
It’s not because you have a Japanese account, it’s because your primary account has the NSO subscription. I didn’t needed to have a Japanese account, I just changed the region so I can download the NSO apps for Japanese region.
Come on Ron, are you too old to remember Starfy?
Starfy is a baby game for toddlers, it was only released on the DS in the USA wasnt a game I was ever interested in :P
@@Madlittlepixel I know, but I remember it. I saw it in some magazines at the time, It was released in Japan on the GBA when I was in my early 20s.
@@Madlittlepixel Toddlers? HA! Tell that to the speedrunners who will break records in beating the game at fast time.
@@Farstarlover speedrunners will speedrun anything, means nothing. I just randomly typed into google Dora the Explorer speedrun... And yep... There are people actively doing runs on Dora the Explorer games for records 😂
@@Madlittlepixel Ok. Same goes for Fisher Price. I dunno but do you own ANY Japan only or Japan version of games in your collection? I have and its mainly for the PS2.
Madlittlepixel does not like anything when Nintendo release games for their online service.
Also, it would have been real nice for Nintendo to translate their games. Starfy did got a US release for the DS. Why not translate the Starfy titles?
You need to broaden your horizons.
Hilarious. You've been cracking me up for a few years now, ever since I came across you destroying that Soulja Boy hand held. The sarcasm is at it's finest. Cheers.
The Starfy games are great! Makes me glad I created a Japanese account too.
God forbid something someone else likes goes to the service. Not everything's about you dude.
youre killing me with the" dude" stuff im crackin i love it 😂
Stop pretending you're a Nintendo fan.😅
I had to laugh....you are like an old fart trying to be hip with the kids (no hate, I am probably the same age)
Starfy games are awesome. I wish Nintendo bring some kind of collection but translated.
I assume it would be better if he could read the language. I remember seeing the DS title in a small shoe store bargain bin for five USD.
I always thought that Starfy looked like the poor man's Kirby haha or his little cousin 😅 My friend had the DS one. Its not bad.
This feels like some intern shenanigans over at Nintendo Japan. Upload anything, but make those lazy Americans work for it!
I don’t trust westerner localizers to do the work. Time to put AI to do its job.
Nintendo: "Here's 3 games featuring a Japanese starfish and his friends. Deal with it. If we get more subscribers to NSO maybe we'll think about adding the 3 Sonic Advance games in the future."
I don't think Nintendo has ever translated any game many years after it was released. Maybe there are one or two exceptions.
i think NES Fire Emblem and Mother
@@videostash413The NES Mother was officially translated by Nintendo in the early 90s, they just chose not to release it until the Virtual Console.
Fire Emblem might be the only example but even that was a paid download that's now delisted
They translated sin and punishment.
@@AlbertPuljossin and punishment was always in English.
We need more genesis games it’s been to long
Sega Genesis online needs more games seriously.
The first game does have an English fan translation rom patch, and someone translated the second one but afaik it has yet to be programmed into a rom patch.. for anyone interested
We got the japanese Starfy trilogy but still no Pokemon mainline or pokemon spinoff their so many !!!
Put some respect on Starfy's name, he's the Prince of Pufftop!!
I have a Japanese account too exactly for this reason and checking out any Japan exclusive games. It is pretty cool that the US NSO Membership applies to both of them.
This guy didn't even play it properly
I actually really like starfy
Oh, man! Can't wait for your video on the $500 limited edition analogue pockets! 😅
PUT SOME RESPECT ON STARFY
Ron, c’mon, people look to you as a classic gaming master! Now you can say you know about Starfy, and your life and everyone else’s life is enriched as a result.
When Nintendo doesn't make the 1,000,000,000th Scrimblo Bimblo 😠
The misers at Nintendo can't spend a smidgeon of their profits on localizing GBA games for NSO. Gotta fund all that litigation and lobbying to end game emulation!
Yup. They've always been pricks. SNES games got censored to hell when compared to their Super Famicom equivalents.
Yeah, now that Nintendo is swimming in resources it’s been very disappointing to see them still act obtusely cheap. They haven’t replaced their fundamentally broken N64 emulator, they didn’t renew any of the licenses for the rerelease Pikmin 2 (not even for Ai No Uta!), they didn’t bundle Luigi’s Mansion 1 with the $60 HD port of 2, and now they’re taking years to release unlocalized games on NSO. People praise Nintendo’s strategy of creating excellent software for ‘affordable’ hardware, so when they cheap out on the games it really gets under my skin.
*laughs in everdrive*
*laughs in Retroarch on Steam Deck*
If only downloading roms wasn't frowned up on by Nintendo. They themselves could have just take the public English translated ROMs for these games and put them on the Switch's online pass. Sucks to paying for something lesser than the pirates again. Thanks Nintendon't.
I'm glad Nintendo put Starfy on here, however I'm very disappointed that they never put in the effort of actually translating the games.
It's a good thing there are video translations out there and English patches for the first game.
Edit: If Starfy is on this service, I wonder if other obscure games will make it like Pinobee, although that game is iffy because of the main two companies involved with the game being defunct. The developer, Artoon, has all of their assets owned by Marvelous and the publisher, Hudson Soft, (known for games like Bomberman, Adventure Island, and many more) was absorbed by Konami.
bro the starfy games are some of the best platformers on GBA 😂
get better taste in games bro
I guess you should have covered the previous update with Zelda and Metroid. You would've liked those better 😆
Would you like some cheese with that whine
i remember starfy being a lot of fun on the DS. very cool to see the rest of them, i am going play them
Yeah super bummed that it isn't translated. You can probably find a translation patch for the roms instead.
Only the first game has a fan translation. 2-4 don't unfortunately which isn't bad but the 4th game has a lot of places you have to revisit after you beat it so you need to at least know where to go back to.
@@Ziko577, the other three are currently being worked on for translations, specifically Starfy 2. I haven't heard of any prototype patches yet, so it might be a while before every game is translated.
@@PKSuperStar256are there repro carts of English Starfy 1? I have nothing against emulation I just don't use it, just popping a cart in my IPS modded GBA is simpler.
@@polycube868, I'm not sure. There's something else I was going to say, but UA-cam keeps hiding it.
@@PKSuperStar256 I saw Etsy actually has an English repro of Starfy 1
Would it have been that hard to translate these games? Apparently it is. This is further proof of how much Nintendo really cares!🤔
STARFY makes me BARFY 🤮

I wanna meet the guy who has a Starfie tramp stamp. You know that guy exists... if not, he will soon after this video.
There's a guy in these comments who said he has a starfy on his ass 🤣
I need the NES chibi Superman game. I spent hours.😂
first starfy game has an english fan translation.
Think about all the games that each of these consoles had during their lifetime. But the 15-30 games you get through switch online? You don't need any more than these, you're welcome.
And they wonder why we freak out about the archival of these roms... I miss my Rock 'N Ball, and none of you even know what you're missing. It's pinball.
I don’t play pinball 😂
It is as if Nintendo is encouraging us to go download the roms, get the fan translation patches (or find pre-translated ROMs) and use the emulator of your choice! Or Nintendo can offer free Japanese lessons? Be easier to get the actual meaning behind anime!
They need to re issue sim city on the snes I still need real hardware to play that.
Emulation?
Doesnt ea own the rights
American know staffy if they played the Ds game 😂
Dang they got golden sun? Pretty cool not gonna lie
Yo, respect for that angels hat. Its rough out there right now
They needed to be adding Puzzle League + Dr Mario GBA...
This was comedy gold dude! Thanks!
How could they not translate it?
Thanks for the vid.
Quick question. What software do you use to record yourself in front of your screen while you play the game? 🕹️
Thanks again 🙏
I only know about starfy bc he was in the game that came with a wii controller and it was cheaper to buy it in that bundle than just getting the wii controller. Lol.
Ah yes Starfy that one secret enemy in Super Princess Peach
Dude your bad word rhyming is getting a little old for me right now😅
These NSO demo videos are so bad. I feel like RGT gives games a fairer shake.
The starfy games are pretty good.
Despite the lack of translation of these games Starfy fans are eating good
I have Starfy on DS, even halfway into the game it's super slow
Your thumbnail for this vid! XD
I do the same thing with the Japanese account. You don‘t have to use „fake“ info though. Just create a new user account and add them to your family plan. 🤙🏼
Im saving this video to laugh at it later
Man, this guy’s just bitching about Starfy. I love Starfy. I got Starfy tatooed on the side of my leg dude.
Cause he doesn't know good Nintendo games when they're being presented. Honestly the dude just reeks of entitlement behavior and needs a serving of humble pie.
It's STARFY!....wait.....who or what is starfy?!?!
It looks like there is only a fan Translation for the first Densetsu no Starfy. But the 3rd one might have English language in the options.
I get it. You're paying extra for this, on top of the standard NSO subscription, and the update is a bunch of untranslated roms. 😕
Id like to see battle of olympus. Asking waaay to much apparently🤷♂️. Been waiting since the wii vc slowly trotted out games like this. I would love to hear the meetings where games come up for being added. I want to cancel my sub but id lose goldeneye and rareware 64 again. 😤
ha loved having to work out what the Japanese text was saying back in the day when importing games, all part of the fun 😜
I doubt this game has a whole lot of dialog. They could have at least machine translated it, lol.
Dude! Seriously, you would not believe how much we've talked in my house about how we want those Starfy games on the Switch! Still they need to localize them, though.....
Seriously jealous about Mother 3. Translate it already Nintendo! 😂
They probably won't release that for another 3 generations. It won't be til the PS9 until we'll see that outdated game.
There's a fan translation since Years, even endorsed by the author of the game but Hey let's keep waiting for the super greedy corpo to do It in 2125 😂😂😂 you Nintendo fanboys are really worse than tumors
Sadly yes, but I guess I will have bought the Japanese version before this happens. I still think that you should reconsider calling the game „outdated“. I think you are making the same mistake as big video game companies. Video games are not food, they do not come with an expiration date. They compare more to board or card games. People will play them as long as they think they are fun, and card games have been around for hundreds of years probably. The same could happen to games like Super Mario Bros, or Earthbound, so I think probably they should give a game from the same franchise a chance.
Laughs in Raspberry Pi 😂
Definition of phoning it in.
Need someone to play the Old games with on nso 😄
Starfy is fantastic, I'm glad to finally have legal access to them!
imagine if Nintendo had the technology to provide the Japanese and English versions of these games instead of having 2 separate online stores. They would be unstoppable.
Starfy is very much "We have Kirby at Home" but they're decent little games.
and also wario is in starfy 3 xD lol
This commentary is fn hillarious!
You would think with the piles of money they are making from the switch online service that they could provide a translated version.
I do appreciate that they release these games on western apps too deapite them not having english.
Hey it's that assist trophy smash bros.
the fact that, that is what it's remembered for is disheartning.
There are SO MANY great GBA games that were released in the States. Why can they not give us a game that really is worth playing? We have gotten some good games, but what gives? All the Super Mario games are simple rehashes of games we already have access to with the SNES and NES service. The Japanese games might be cool, but most of us will never know because we don’t read Japanese. Basically, we have Mario Kart, F-Zero Maximum Velocity, 2 Metroid games, and 1 and a half Zelda games (I say 1 and a half because we already have A Link to the Past via SNES) and both Golden Sun games. These games are great, but what about the MANY other GBA games that we could, and should be able to play.
Can we not get Final Fantasy Tactics Advance? Tactics Ogre Advance? Metal Slug Advance? Final Fight? Pokémon? Mother 3? Sword of Mana?
There are so many games that this service should reflect. Where are these titles? Why would they give us games (in all of the NSO service) that they know we can’t read? Maybe 12 people across the States will play these games. Hell, if Nintendo is going to release these games to us, can they not at least provide an English patch?!
It just doesn’t make any sense. How hard is it for Nintendo to give us games in English? Please forgive this double entendre, but I don’t understand this at all.
A lot of Japanese games are completely playable if you don't know the language, I'm not sure about Starfy though.
@@polycube868 so true. Why not release THOSE of you have to draw from the Japanese library? Text heavy games are just not practical when you can’t read the language.
@@brichan1851 right...something like Mario is playable but an RPG? Better order Babel!
Exactly. I'm sure the Japanese games are good but not being able to read or understand what I am playing feels like I am playing some bootleg junk rom. So many good English titles to give us if they are too lazy to translate. 🤦🏻♂️
@@tonyrosario1940 you miss out on jokes if you play in Japanese, I played the Japanese versions of Donkey Kong Country for years and missed out on Cranky's insults.
Nintendo Switch Online launched to the masses in September. So probably what's going to happen is we'll get some big classics just after over 70 million users renew their subscription.
Homefish 😂
Be grateful for your paid roms
Yessss! Love the Starfy games! Great news! 🙌🏻
