    I love what you post. I absolutely love it. I do have a question though, I was taught to never clean your media and perform a water change at the same time. I have an AIO nano and have cared for other tanks in the past that weren't mine. Why is it that you clean both media's? I'm very curious to know.
    more info: I was taught that if you clean both the media that carries your beneficial bacteria and perform a water change at the same time (I've always done 50%, unless other reasons needed) that it can harm your corals and fish because your tank has significantly decreased the amount of bacteria needed to convert the new water you just put into the tank which in turn raises trace levels that can harm and or end the life of your aquatic life. I've never went against it and done as instructed but I'm always looking to learn new things and listen to the opposing side of every situation.

    • @AquaSplendor
      @AquaSplendor  4 роки тому +3

      I clean it in the same water they were to avoid a shock. I clean it from the detritus because it block the flow.
      Im not worry about bacteria, the rock and especially the sand do this work. I think I can remove the media from the aquarium at this point without problems. But when I do i wont add ton of food and probably use pellet type of food.
      The theory is there, the pratic is another I guess, sometimes we read stuff, but when you test it, it's not that bad as they said, there's some... elasticity
      I wouldn't do the same in my frag tank for exemple, not much place where bacteria can hang.

      Ask on facebook to your local area who have cheap coral. Buy a big bucket of salt and run a filter like freshwater aquarium does. Don't hesitate to spend money on RODI system, its worth it!
