I think it's the residue from where he wiped the goo from the pebbles off. I think he should have tried to clean it off with rubbing alcohol before filling the tank.
Yup! Small scale thermal runaway. More resin->More heat->Cures faster->Even more heat That’s one of the reasons these kits are meant to cure in the sun. It’ll cure a lot slower and you’ll get better results.
I've been making the fish bowls and tanks for a while now, and watching other youtubers do it. I think there's no way to avoid air bubbles no matter what you do. One time I got a fish tank and I let it sit uncured for a week just to get all the air out. It looked perfect before I cured it, but as soon as I did, giant bubbles formed. I think it's just the nature of this kind of resin. I've also tried mixing the gravel into the resin, setting it, then setting a layer of resin on top, then doing the rest in layers. Still got bubbles.
You might need something like a vacuum chamber to really get all the bubbles out, but I don't know if that's an investment most people are willing to make.
I think the only way to eliminate every single little bubble, like @iiii5806 says, is to have some type of pressure chamber that sucks out all the bubbles. But that involves a lot of other risks, and it's not worth it at that point. lol
@altoidsours have you tried regular fish pebbles instead of what they give you? To see if it’s a reaction to the chemical make up, between the resin and the make it’s pebbles. I really do think it’s this. But I’m not a scientist so.
I bet you could reuse the little "bags" that the fish come in with a clear fish resin film and some clear resin to make some cute little charms! I've seen something similar online and they are really adorable :3
Hey GB! First of all...Great video! I love watching you be a little creative and thinking outside the box with the designs! The second fish is called a Beta fish and yes, you cannot put 2 males in a tank together because they are very territorial and will sometimes fight to the death. You can however put multiple females in a tank together and they'll be fine, but the female beta fish are kinda plain and boring looking. As far as the bubbles, you were on the right track with pouring in layers and setting the resin, but also continuing to pour small layers curing it each time all the way to the top. Another trick us "resiners" use is putting things that we're going to add to the resin (ie:the fish and the plant/coral) in a little bit of resin completely covering it and let it sit there for a minute or two first before adding it in, without curing it, it seems to coat things so that air bubbles can't form or escape from little air pockets. Hope that helps! Glad you're feeling better and keep making the cool videos! ❤❤❤
I haven't seen your channel before this and really like the format of not having to wait for each ball to get all the plastic layers off first. Everything is nice and to the point of getting to the fun parts of the items. I'm definitely going to subscribe.
The fish tanks are more realistic than you think, the bubbles aren't mistakes, they happen during water changes and I have an air stone going in my big tank, so those were awesome, I love the fish tanks and birds and plants, so cool! ❤🎉
Hello! As someone who works with epoxy for my business often, just wanted to share some insight for your bubbles issue. :] Because you are inserting the plant, and placing pebbles around it, tiny pockets for air are forming, when the resin is activating and curing the air is being displaced, this is why it did not occur with your fish, and just your plant, your fish was placed on top of tightly packed pebbles, from the tip of your tweezers. As for the clouding, this can be due to a couple of things, 1. the pebbles could have loose powder on them from rubbing together, this might be very unnoticeable until it is picked up and suspended in the resin, [ you could potentially negate this by rinsing and drying them, but that is hard to say without knowing what they are made of.] or swapping them all together for a fully dry and washable type of crushed stone. [ i would suggest crushed labradite for a very interesting look, as well as easy to clean residue off of and dry] the second reason this could be happening is if the plastic the "tank" is created from isn't made to withstand heat or resin, creating a clouded or fogged look when the heat reaction occurs during curing. Hope this helps! Oh! And finally, if you intended to try this again with a more controlled bubble look, you could reverse your technique, and insert the fish instead of the plant, which in turn would create bubbles around the fish, i think this is an act of free forming, so you will have to have faith in your eye for execution as well as your ability to roll with it. But this could be of use for future projects to create kenetic energy in these pieces such as the free flowing food pieces. :]
That levitating anemone is actually some great character to the tank, it makes it look like Marlin wants to find his son so bad. He created a whirlpool to launch himself out, and the anemone is being sucked into the center of the tank
Hi, GB! 1) Great you're well now. 2) The Nemo one is a great idea, kudos. 3) Have you seen the big sets? There are a pizza party and an ice cream party, and even a big store with loads of ingredients in a nice case
@@JAGYT I honestly don't know. Mind just cleared by itself after it cooled down. Is it possible that your tank got fingerprints and or residue from the pebles?🤔
I really like how you're being creative with these mini verse items. Adding "Frozen Moments" and just thinking of different ways to build the sets compared to the examples. So awesome! Great job! 👏😀 I hope to see more from you in the future, I've basically binged all of your videos 😅
I love your version of “Nemos dad”s tank! That’s the whole fun of the Make Its!! Making it your own and learning along the way! Oh how the ideas that come spilling forth the more you create!
Fantastic video 🎉🎉🎉 Incredible frozen mini verse moment🤩🤩🤩 Loved the minis that you shared and looking forward to seeing more when you are feeling more like yourself ☺️☺️☺️ Always stay golden and keep getting better 💖💖💖
Bubbles look nice! I’ve seen some creators fill the entire tank with resin and let it sit for 24 hours or more. Supposedly helps dissipate the bubbles but I’ve still seen them get a few smaller ones. I’ve also seen people using epoxy resin use a match or flame to get rid of bubbles. Not sure if that’s an option for UV resin though!
As another commenter said, the bubbles work. You do such cool stuff! I love your creativity. I’ve always been afraid to try these resin minis because they seem like they might take more patience than I have
Thank you so much for making these videos! (I bought a kit once and the resin smell made me sick 🤢.) I really love the custom job you did with the clownfish at the end- so creative and cool!
The bubbles are out of the plant, this can be fixed by letting it sit before curing or you can try to tap them out before curing. I have seen a few other creators have this exact same problem, and these were there fixes
Hi GB, loved the way the bubbles looked in the first tank and your attempt at the escaping fish 😂 - hope you feel 💯 now. I had dreaded c19 last week so I totally sympathise. Love watching your videos, even though I am 54 😂- I love crafting and we didn’t have things like this when I was a kid so it’s nice to watch. Have a good week.
The fish escape was so cool! I was binge watching a bunch of the make it mini food videos you did and just when I was thinking that these were cool but you couldn't do a frozen in time version with these, you absolutely came out of left field with that and knocked it out of the park!
I like the bubbles in the fish tanks, makes it look really realistic and I think it looks better than if there wasnt any bubbles. I love the fish tanks ❤❤
Hello Golden Boy 💛 Happy Saturday! 🎉 Can't wait to watch! I can't believe they have series 3 out already. I barely got any series 2...seems fast, at least give us a little time in between series. Lol anyway ...is what it is and I'm so glad they're keeping up with the demand...they're quite popular and I totally get it! Haha! Lots of Love sent ur way from Maine. 😊❤
Hi there!😊 I know, right? I never liked when Mini Brands did that (release a new series so soon), and now it seems that Mini Verse is doing it too!😂 Thank you thank you!❤️❤️❤️

the escaping fish miniature is so fun!! as for the bubbles, it's air that got caught between the pebbles, so you should probably try pouring resin in first and then slowly drop the pebbles in, letting them soak well and release the air before curing the resin layer?
when i had a fish bowl i mixed a little resin and the pebbles before curing and it still made bubbles. i think they form primarily when curing a large volume at a time because of the heat it gives off during the curing process. only way i can think to avoid it is by curing thin layers at a time while making sure to shove resin in any cracks and crevices that may contain air pockets, but then you run the risk of visible lines in the final product.

Hey GB! I have two fish tanks of my own, the red eared slider and the pink betta, and they both have bubbles inside their tanks. I’m not sure why that happens, but I think it’s cool! As for the foggyness, it should clear up a lot more as the resin cools down from the UV heat!
if it's any consolation, the bubbles do add realness cos fish tanks have aerators to help add oxygen to the water 😌
I think the bubbles look awesome!!
I thought that too especially for the rectangular tanks
Exactly what I thought too.
Yep the bubbles add to the effect.
❤🎉😊like l
Nemo's dad is Marlin. I love how you created Marlin escaping to go and search for his son! Very clever and looks very cool!
I love your creativeness with the tank at the end, where the fish was jumping out. That was awesome!
I'm loving this idea of the fish coming out. I like that the coral is elevated as well gives it more motion like everything is falling out.
Glad you like it!😁
i love GB noticing science happen and pointing it out. The resin is foggy from the UV heat! 💕
Likely because the resin is so thick! Thick resin heats up extra while curing.
I think it's the residue from where he wiped the goo from the pebbles off. I think he should have tried to clean it off with rubbing alcohol before filling the tank.

I did like the effect of the bubbles, it gives it realism and in my opinion it look better❤❤
You have a pretty extreme black light. I think the resin curing generates a lot of heat, which results in a foggy look to the glass
And then for some reason it clears out, which is interesting/weird.

The bubbles make the fish tank appear realistic. Anyway, love watching your mini verse videos. Watching from Philippines.
I think for the fish tank you have to do it in layers to avoid bubbles :)
Interesting with the change in the cloudy water. Love the background music, makes it so relaxing to watch.
