At 18:37 When you say "unrecognized territories like this part of Armenia" you actually showed the Nakhchivan Exclave which belongs to Azerbaijan and it's undisputed territory. You probably wanted to point to Artsakh aka Nagorno-Karabakh which is east of Armenia, not west, but doesn't show on google maps as disputed area. I guess it's not shown as disputed area by google maps because even tough it's de facto ruled by ethnic Armenians who want a union with Armenia, Armenia never officially claimed the territory even if they support the local forces in their fight against Azerbaijan, but I'm not actually 100% sure whether they claim it or not. Sorry for being "that guy" always pointing the small mistakes in your videos, the truth is that i like your videos and i think they have quality so when I spot something a little detail that you missed I like to let you know.
You are so cool. At my time in Yugoslavia young people in school actually cared to study history and geography and felt proud and cool to demostrate knolledge about it. Then I moved to Western Europe and I found myself in a place where my schoolmates knew shit about the world and geopolitics. Like totally ignorant and not even wishing to know anything about it. I really need to say that despite Serbia/Yugoslavia had not been a Eastern Bloc country, it had a communist regime, and in regard of education, all these countries did so well in making schools actually educate youngsters from early age about important world stuff. For instance, I studied 2nd and 3rd grade in elementary school in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, in late 1980s and we already had there history and geography. I left Serbia to Portugal in 1988 with 10 years and already knowing all geography and history of Yugoslavia and most important stuff of the world. When I came to Portugal I went to 4th grade and saw them playing as babies wihout knowing or studiing any of this.
Unlike Britain, they know ZERO about geography. At school there was a little Europe poster and they thought Bulgaria was in Spain and they spelt “Bolgayra” wrong. It also said Prague was in Spain and it also said some random sea which was between uk and Denmark but it was in Baltic Sea. Come on seriously
claim it at the second it switches. SAJAKA SHALL OVERCOME! are you talking about Andorra tho? that's a country that is half owned as a king and a president and ahhh complicated
Philippe Léon Viviane Jean-Claude Worontzoff Andorra's leader is referred to as a prince, which is just a fancy term of head of state (not royal). the island referred to is Pheasant Island on a river border in the Pyreenes region. the island is uninhabited by humans and changes hands every six months due to a 17th century treaty between France and Spain. it is more of a technicality as pretty much anyone can navigate the river.
@@SantomPh the Bidaxxoa river is small it is only navigated by fishermen and tourists canoes . There is a French monument (stele) on Pheasant islet that dates back to the 18th century.
I like your show and share your love of maps. But I have one request. Can you slow down on the zooming in and zooming out and jerking left and right. It really gets hard to see anything when you do that.
I'm Danish, and I only know a few people who've been to Greenland. We maybe spend two or three hours learning about it in class, and many Danes don't even recognise their flag. I wouldn't even call it a part of the country of Denmark, only the Kingdom of Denmark.
What happens when a country has no land anymore? Well they stay as an observer state in UN, like the Sovereign Military Order of Malta did centuries ago. No land anymore, but on a lot of levels is still a "country".
18:37 "This part of Armenia is one." I think you messed that up a bit. If that pat of Azerbaijan is de facto independent (which makes sense; I think it was a special Soviet Republic), then Azerbaijan has 2 different de facto independent states in it, the other being Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh west of Armenia (and connected to Armenia by regions of Azerbaijan that were occupied by Armenia until the 2020 war, after which what remains of Artsakh has only been connected to Armenia by a thin Russia-occupied corridor).
The Faero Islands will probably also become independent at some point. And another thing, neither the Faero islands nor Greenland actually belong to Denmark, they belong to the Danish Kingdom, something Denmark also do. But it's more of a we have a same owner who due to customs follow the decisions of our parliament kind of thing then a we own you kind of thing.
You pointed the wrong part. Disputed one is Artsakh, not Nakhchivan. Nakhchivan is a sparsely-populated Azerbaijani territory. Armenia proposed corridor exchange plan, swapping Nakhchivan and eastern Artsakh with a small linking corridor from Nakhchivan remaining, Azerbaijan and Turkey disagreed.
Can you once and for all tell us what name you go by on UA-cam? You always say it so quickly during the startup, but I have never been able to pick up on what it is. Other than that: keep up the good work.
a lot of this examples fall under "Countries that are administer by other countries".... autonomous territories and autonomous countries inside other countries....guess all Federations fall into this one like Russia, UK, USA, Spain, etc.... in the case of Georgia I think this 2 small republics are official, same goes for Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan.... we are not even counting the De facto self Proclaim countries that are recognize by other countries but not the Administer of the territory like Nagorno-karabakh which has its own coin, military, ID, parlament and minister and laws....and its recognize by very few countries...same goes for Taiwan.
Russia is also dealing with its own separatist movements. Most of the territories at the heart of these movements are federal subjects of Russia, and have been demanding either whole or partial autonomy or campaigning for absolute freedom from Moscow’s rule for a long time. Of these, the movements centering Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia, and Tatarstan, have historically been the most robust and often bloody. It's only a matter of time before Russia breaks up and becomes smaller.
Kaliningrad+Moscovia+Primorye would be successor of Russia. Greater Finland, Armenocaucasia, Turkic Union, Greater Mongolia would take all the remaining parts.

A flood deleting all of European Netherlands and they would suddenly need to move to Belgium and Carribean.
