    When I was younger, I used to sleep in my mums room. It wasn't cold, but we had no central heating so she had one of these by the bed on the floor which she would turn on. I'll always remember those nights with the TV on, my French bulldog cuddled up next to me, my mum next to her, the lights off and the heater just making this sound all night. And the the Saturday mornings where I would wake up hours before her, sneak downstairs to get some sweets, come back up and watch CBBC or Pop for the cartoons. I miss those nights. Now everything sucks.

    When I was a child in the 90s in my house (northern Italy) it was sometimes -10 degrees outside. While my dad was shaving before taking me to school, I was with him in the bathroom attached to this thing, the sound made me fall asleep again.
    I didn't want to go to school, it made me feel unwell.

    I love how everyone in the comment section has nostalgia for these small heaters.
    For me it's connected to those winter evenings in the 2000s when we were taking a bath and mom would turn one on so that me and my brother wouldn't get a cold when we would walk out. I can still smell that warm plastic that's so weirdly calming.

    The bass is what so many Channels are missing. Ive tried several videos of rainfall on a tin roof. What they always do is set it ti the perspective of being outside or listening through an open window. No, i dont want to hear every trickle into a puddle. I want to hear those drops slap against my roof with that nice full "thud".

    • @SleepMelodies11
      @SleepMelodies11  3 місяці тому +363

      Because many channels create videos by copying and pasting, and they all end up being copies of each other. They don’t do any sound editing; for example, they don’t even know how to make basic adjustments like bass or treble settings. After recording my sounds, I work for about 6-8 hours to make these adjustments and carry out the necessary editing. Finally, I test it with my headphones that have bass vibration.

      @@SleepMelodies11dude, you are an amazing guy. I’m an editor myself and the lengths you go to make people happy is amazing. I know what it’s like to spend hours on a project for other people enjoyment not knowing if more than 100 people are even going to see the video. I’ve had those late nights editing a project. @@ODessa002 I have heard a variety of ASMR and I would say water sounds definitely gets under my skin, but what really makes me hit the max of my patience and get angry super fast is drinking water sounds, both planned and not planned, I don't need someone slurping and most definitely don't want to hear someone gulping in my ear at max volume when I am trying to destress and sleep.
      I can take chewing, crunching(even the loud base boosted versions), heavy breathing, hitting and tapping things, and can be patient with the low quality instant copy and paste monotone asmr(though I would jump ship soon after realizing), but gulping water is where I draw the line.

    You brought back so many childhood memories, specially me during día de reyes (jan 6th) living in Mexico right next to the woods, the house would get extremely cold and we needed a heater like that and my mom would cover the windows with those big ol heavy blankets that had lions and bears on them.
    I would get so cold sometimes that i’d sit right in front of the heater and hug my dog for a couple of mins, god I miss that dog so much.
    Crazy to me how much this video brought back just by thinking about the heater.
    Back to the story, I would wake up, jan the 6th to open my gifts by like 6am, my sister would be already up cuz she got class (she was in highschool) and she would already have the tv on with MTV… i can remember loba (she wolf) by shakira playing on the background, me opening a psp go and she opening a Sony Ericsson phone that had shakira songs in it.
    Great beautiful simpler times, now i’m stuck in university lol.

    I'm only 20 but it feels so long ago- those cold and frigid nights where I'd sleep on an ironically comfortable hardwood floor next to the heater in the hallway just because I wanted to be super warm. The silence of it all and the peaceful nature of the late hours of the night bring me a lot of peace. Thanks, I guess for this video 😅
    I tend to forget about little things like that and these nostalgic videos remind me of them once again which is always a pleasant thing.

    My grandparents used to use this when they ran out of petrol. When I was a child, i used to spend one night at my grandparents place from tuesday to wednesday. They didn't use electric heating nor gas so they had this massice 3000 L petrol tank in the basement. But sometimes, they didn't refuel early enough and by the beginning of wonter, everyone would queue to get petrol. Because it was no longer possible to use the water heating, they had these heating fan fonr like the 80/90s to heat up the living room. I find it so relaxing and using the hair dryer gives me those goosebumps too.

      Yupp, use precaution! I almost had two fires in the past with these.
      1) my blanket hang from the bed too close to the heater. I woke up to smoke from the blanket about to catch fire.
      2) I had one connected to an extension cord. Thankfully I was awake when the extension cord melted and sparks started flying everywhere, to plug it out.
      Stay safe

    • @MIW_Renegade
      @MIW_Renegade 3 місяці тому +2

      @@ymbplayboinot so much an old cord, as it was probably a cord that was not rated for the power of a heater, you need special extension cords (or just heavy duty) to run heaters or air conditioners, otherwise you risk a fire

    • @ymbplayboi
      @ymbplayboi 3 місяці тому

      @MIW_Renegade well normally the cord, if it doesnt support high voltage devices like heaters or conditioners, should have safety precautions to turn off before it catches fire

    • @MIW_Renegade
      @MIW_Renegade 3 місяці тому

      @@ymbplayboi at least in North America an extension cord has 0 protection and is often rated less than the maximum current of the circuit breaker, cords are sometimes rated at only 10 or 13 amps on light/regular duty, despite being able to be plugged into a 15 or 20A circuit, and unlike places like the UK, our plugs are often not fused, so best case scenario the cord gets a little warm, worst case scenario the cord melts down or catches on fire. Usually only our power strips come with a built in circuit breaker, and only in very specific use cases, will an extension cord have a fuse. I personally don’t use a cord with a wire size smaller that 14AWG for under 25ft, and 12AWG for 25ft or longer runs

    When I was a kid, we had an infrared heater with a fan. It was glowing brighter. And same fan noise.
    I liked staring at it in the morning after being waken up to school.
    Also the electric kettle noise during that time was making me sleepy for some reason. Good memories.
    But it only works when you're a kid. I had a chance to test it. Thought I'll go crazy during multiple nights trying to bear with that constant noise. I was around 25 then. Rented a terrible place to live in temporarily. Heated only with two of these things. And it wasn't enough. Always cold. Always loud noise.
    That's the complete opposite, my worst memories probably.
