Hey Justin! A nice little song here. Doesn't get much love but I have always liked it. Jon's vocals are awesome! Enjoy!!👍⭐️⭐️⭐️😎
One of my favorites Jeff!🤩
It's a very cool piece
@@lesblatnyak5947 Agree!👍😎
It's a beautiful bridge between two more ambitious tracks. This is how you craft an album.
This is one of those deep cuts that makes you happy every time you hear it.
You can find a longer version, with the song coming to more of a conclusion.

This version carried the jazzy feel for an extra 1 1/2 minutes.
An easy two rhythm YES style ✨️🎶✨️
👍😎
There are not any bad tunes on this album, some are just better than others.
I love Anderson's vocals on this one! And the jazzy piano solo from Kaye is also very noteworthy. And now "You'll see perpetual change".
👍😎
As their shorter, throwaway-style songs go, it's a really nice one. Pleasant and fun.
Edit to add that there is a King Crimson song called Trio on the album Starless and Bible Black where Bruford is given a song-writing credit but he does not play on the song. Apparently it was a little in-studio jam/improv that the other three started playing (bass, guitar, and violin), and Bruford sat there on his kit with his sticks ready looking for the right percussion to fill in the jam, and ultimately just put his sticks down and listened to the other three. Robert Fripp says he gave him a song-writing credit for "Admirable restriction". Bruford is a really good rabbit-hole to go down someday.
When Justin mentioned Bill's restraint, the Trio story came immediately to mind.
Trio was actually a live improvisation. You are correct that Bill decided there was nothing he needed to add to the performance. The rest of the band saw that as a crucial choice, and he was given a co-writing credit. Robert later called it "Admirable restraint".
That’s one funky ass bass line at the end
YES! 😊 It's a short song, but has some interesting parts to it. They definitely could've extended that last little part when the guitar jam started, but I've always liked it.
The full version of the song is available on the Steven Wilson's 2014 remix of the album (which also contains the studio version of "Clap"). It definitely fades out too fast here, but I also don't feel it really needs to be that much longer. It could simply fade out some 30 seconds later.
I have the same take on Bruford....He plays sweet segments in mixed meters (I think that's the term..need drummers' help) while hanging on the groove...This one is just ok for me.
One of my all-time favorite YES songs even if it is a shorty!🤩
👍😎
This recording is very polished, but "A Venture" has always felt unfinished to me, especially when compared to the rest of 'The Yes Album'. The compositional style also seems like a throwback to 'Time And A Word' IMO. Yes themselves never thought much of it, considering it was only ever played live because they were doing full album tours in the teens. Re: Bill Bruford, you nailed it that he 'leaves room'. After he joined King Crimson, he famously chose to not play at all on one of their recorded live improvs, and was given credit in the liner notes for "admirable restraint". 😄
There is a further two minutes or so after the fade-out on UA-cam with the ‘extended’ version.
I think I saw the live version in 2013. On Cruise to the Edge.
Beatles-esqe, almost like a Maxwells Silver Hammer or OBlaDi sort of take. Out of character for Yes. But still cool.
Not as complex or proggy as other songs on the album but still very interesting. I like it.
Bruford basically said that Anderson and Squire tricked him into thinking he was joining a jazz band 🤣
Great take regarding Bill. He does a lot without making it sound like he does a lot if that makes any sense.
In 1975 the band took a break from each other and did solo projects. It'd be cool if you did a reaction to Squire's FISH OUT OF WATER album. Many fans believe it is the best out of the five. It is excellent. I think you'd enjoy it very much. Bill Bruford also plays drums.
White and Bruford both drum on Fish out of Water
White only plays on the final two tracks from the box set edition; neither song was on the original studio version from1975.
