- Join us as we head to Adventureland Resort in Iowa for our first ever visit! In this vlog from the 11th theme park of our USA Road Trip, we enjoy everything that Adventureland has to offer, including Monster, a fantastic Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster. We also experience many other rides at the park along with taking a look at the new Vikings themed area opening soon!

Adventureland is a great home park. Nothing amazing but a good clean family park. Excited about the new owners and the future of it.
Glad tornado was smoother. The old owners didn’t care for their woodies and the new ones are working on fixing the issues.
The underground is so comically terrible that’s about the attraction of it. Not sure if the new owners are redoing it or not.
I do think it was quieter because of the weird cold day. The water park brings big crowds.
Dont be too excited. Palace Entertainment is awful. My home park is Lake Compounce...which is the oldest park in the country...and Palace completely neglects it.
If youre not Kennywood, they don't care.

The old Log Flume was located where Monster is.

I grew up in Iowa and we'd go to Adventureland every summer growing up! The park looks very different (in a good way) than it did back then. You didn't miss anything with the Underground - it's very UNDERwhelming - no pun intended...ok, maybe intended a little :) Another great vlog!

I disagree, the underground is one of the best rides there. The lore of bad Bob is insane! The underground was shut down because I suspect Bad Bob escaped and is doing some stuff down at Outlaws gulch which explains why the Outlaw is shut down and so is the saw mill splash. I am excited to return next year to see what he has done well I was gone. 😅
Underground was always the best on those *crazy hot* days, cause it was always cold down there! 😅
growing up in nebraska our closest amusement parks are advenrureland and worlds of fun. my family grew up going to adventureland. the raging rapids water ride was closed in 2021 after and incident with the tube flipping. the underground has been closed since 2019, after an incident with a kid sticking his leg out of the cart so i believe the new owners are trying to find a solution. adventureland is also called the disneyland of the midwest. its a small park but all the staff are amazing. the park is definetly more directed towards younger kids now after removing a few rides like the dragon, spinning silo, and the splashover.
18:55 You can see the old footers from the Dragon coaster, in the water behind Charlotte, that was recently removed. It was a Hopkins roller coaster who also designed the famous Red Devil/Cliff Hanger at the old defunct Ghost Town in the Sky.

This park is on my bucket list. Looks like a good park with solid rides.
Another cracking vlog both. Our nights of Disney+, Netflix and streaming have been replaced by TPWW and The Sandbrook Adventures.

Being about 2 hours away I have avoided this park because of the old owners and some of the stuff they were up too, I have been meaning to get back and check out the new rides and your review of tornado is exactly what I like to hear!
Pray tell......what WERE the old owners up to ?
@@martenclark9728 There is a rafting ride in the back of the park not sure if its been removed yet or not. Some of the rafts were not keeping inflated and they used flex seal. One tipped over and one kid died and to top it off the medics couldnt get to him because the emergency entrance was blocked and other entrance was blocked because of fourth of July. With the ride being in the back of the park and no easy entrance and the maintenance issues....oof

Its still early in the season which may explain the light crowds. The schools may still be in session in places.
44:50 As far as I know this construction is for evacuation of the starflyer if it ever got stuck up high. I remember seeing a picture somewhere recently where that had been wrapped around the tower but still on the ground and these cages surrounded two opposing gondolas of the ride for people to exit safely.
Don’t worry, you didn’t miss anything in The Underground! 😂😂 There are no drops or anything. The animatronic in the queue was laughably bad.

37:49 there's actually a model engineering club in altoona iowa with over 3 miles of 7.5" gauge railroad... Well worth a visit!
Season passholder here! I would highly recommend the Outlaw coaster - I thought it was a blast to experience! Also, Space Shot was amazing!

Charlotte Girl........"I'm Gonna Get The Cred" I freakin' love that. Total Respect! I hate these rotating coasters. Much different than "Spinning" I've only been on that horrible Zac Spin at SFMM. Fortunately, they dumped it after a couple of seasons.

A lot of the reasons for ride closures and things like Teacups closure is the new owners have a lot stricter safety requirements. They’ve been updating each ride.
The new owners took out the Skyride due to their safety requirements.

My husband has family in Ames so we've been to this park a number of times. Always a blast. We got banged around pretty bad on Tornado (even conked heads) but that was in 2016 so they're probably done some good maintenance since then. We patched up at the Biergarten!
Expecting a ride like the Smiler I was amazed by Monster and the skyride through the middle was a brilliant experience. You didn't miss much on The Underground - When I rode it was very slow and sparsely themed (and disappointingly not underground!). Fingers crossed they are addressing at least one of those issues along with fixing the trains.
It was nice to see you came to Iowa in June. Adventureland was the park we went almost every year when I was growing up. The park has changed a lot over the years. Yes there are better coasters but The Tornado is my favorite as it is the first big coaster I ever rode.

I was feeling a bit bad with my psychosis condition (I have spent weeks in a Section 2 detainment over it back in March) earlier but somehow, when i started watching this video, the fun just kicked in and now i feel so much better, so THANK YOU. I dont smile a lot in my days, but your videos, i cant help it. I know you know this already but you two are SO blessed to have such a wonderful life and you share it with all of us who can only dream of it. :) I used to be so into my coasters in my early days as the founder of @coasterforce (I gifted that site to Ian Bell back in 2007) but since I focussed on my career and kids I lost track (no pun intended) of coaster enthusiasm. You guys in my middle-aged years bring my youth back to me, so much so i have arranged 3 theme park trips with my friends for this year, (two already done) which I never would have done otherwise, and Im so grateful for it. The new owners had a press conference right after they purchased the park and stated that after their updates on rides , there plan is to add 3 new rides every year for the next 7 years including dark rides , coasters and water rides

Grew up going to Adventureland and you guys are spot on!
I was always told it was designed by some of the same people who worked on Disneyland. I haven’t independently confirmed that, but it definitely screams “Disneyland, but Iowa” loud and clear.
The new additions are mainly targeting locals and people in neighboring cities imo. While the themed areas are nicely done, they lose their magic after decades of visits.
Rides like Monster and Dragon Slayer are so much more thrilling than anything else within a multi-hour drive. With those two and all of the new flat & kids rides, people around here are way more interested in going and getting season passes again.
I work overnights down the street, so sometimes I’ll stop by and ride Monster quick on my way. That freedom and the water park alone justify the (very reasonable) season pass price imo
They also have a really high quality circus show that is worth seeing! The water park is nothing crazy, but still serviceable (again, it’s Iowa. We’re a simple folk)
Pretty cool to see the stuff you helped build on UA-cam. We built the electronics room and the entrance to dragon Slayer. We completely transformed the coke Cafe. I built the control building for the lighthouse ride. Earlier this year we built the shed roof right in front of the entrance.

The land is dug out where the underground is. This area was originally an amphitheatre with high diving, etc... If you look at it aerially, you can see the shape of the amphitheater
Certainly looks an interesting park with some decent attractions
Love the new hat, although you might need a bigger British Theme Park Museum to accommodate it 46:32

Thank you! I’ve learnt many things over the years and followed rides under construction. I also look on park websites along with rcdb and put it all together!

I live in Iowa just 2hrs from the park and I went there on August 4th it was fun sucks that storm chaser and the underground were closed and they don't have the ski lift anymore or the raging river

The skyride is something I rode literally 30 years ago for the first time and many times since, it has been a staple of the park for decades. It was one of the best anywhere, it's a crime they took it down. It was still running after Monster was built and there were great views of Monster because the skyride literally went right through the center of it. Before Monster it went right over the old log flume where Monster is now. Still gutted they removed it.

Just a tip tpw crew . If it's a new park if you done research and park didn't get back to you pop into guest services on day ask them if you can film or get a pass I'm sure you would of been able as subscribers we would love to see POVs too

I found POV's for most of your rides.
Monster is really smooth and fun.
Underground is Lame, you didn't miss anything, pretty much flat ,almost no theming.. I
see why it's closed.
The spinning coaster looked short and nauseating even just watching the POV...
I see it didn't spin much for you. .kind of bland, Eh:)
Maybe the theming will progress over time.. follow the money, eh?
The train ride was nice , It's like being in an actual town with all the building themes.
I feel the park is trying .but it doesn't quite hit the bullseye.
I hope you are both OK, there have been some terrible Tornadoes along your previous route, be careful, please!

Another good and interesting vlog, have both liked and shared around. Found park honestly disappointing, yes it does look like they were inspired by Disney parks, just disappointed they didn't follow Disney inspiration with stories, immersive theming and presentation, I mean sure I will visit park in future if get opportunity, but apart from this video, there is no attraction here apart from the coaster you mentioned for the big thrill enthusiasts like yourselves. 100% agree with Charlotte and yourself 100% need another big coaster here, maybe an RMC Coaster would be great here, put park more on the map & get park more full with attractions and more, think train tunnel was disappointing, was expecting some theming or a story in there, but nope just metal sheet walls around sides, maybe opportunity for animatronics, shame you didn't get Underground coaster, would of been good to see off ride shots of that aswell POV's in video. Park has so much potential, but yeah just a massive shame with theming, 100% yes needs more immersive theming here. But interesting vlog, look forward to the next. 😀👍
