The apparent commitment of time to undertake the course and testing and an ongoing cost to hold a something I have no ability to value until I invest in it. With a young family and busy job, spending a whole weekend is not feasible.
Very good question and I guess it depends where to live. 70cm seems to be as popular as 2m in some areas, but you can almost rely on there being some 2m DMR activity in your local area.
@@HamRadioDX THANKYOU for your quick reply. Just gathering my research. Your book looks GREAT. I certainly will buy from JayCar, they're just down the road ;-)
Thinking about getting started in Ham Radio but not sure what to do next? Comment below what is holding you back

Went out today and got my oldest boy (14Yo) a copy from Jaycar, I hope he will have his call some time this year. Thanks for the videos Hayden.
That would be great to see! Thanks Adrian
I’m studying for my foundation license during this lockdown period 💪 Was an old CB’er back in the day.
Nice stuff! Good luck and please let us know how you go. Welcome to the hobby

This is a little misleading? It has no information about getting started in Australia. It’s just a promo for a book?
Correct about the promo. The Australian Ham Radio Handbook helps you to get started in Australia. It has almost everything you need to get started.
Great book! I highly recommend and it’s a bargain of a price :)
Are you studying or just passed your test?
@@HamRadioDX Currently studying.
For DMR, which is used most? 70cm or 2m? I want my Foundation Licence, just for DMR. Will get it this year now COVID crazy is almost behind us!! :-)

I had my Australian Ham Licence taken from me because I missed the due date for annual payment.
If it was recently, you can contact ACMA to renew it.
If not, you can apply again for a callsign with your exam results with the AMC
