Please keep these guys in your thoughts and remember that the job is not just to be a badass, it is to confront the very worst that humanity has to offer. It is to experience some of the worst and most traumatic things a person can experience. And they need help when they come home.

Fact. Back when I was a teen in Fayettenam, my next door neighbor was a shooter on Delta.
I didn't know until after we left, when my dad let me in on the little secret.
I thought he was some chill civilian who liked to garden with his wife, 3-legged dog, and chicken. Both he and his wife were humble and meek.
Only afterward did I piece together why we wouldn't see him in his yard for months at a time.
I can't overstate how much I would have never guessed he was even in the military.
It taught me that Hollywood's Rambo and macho propaganda surrounding elite warriors is all a lie.
The best don't have a reason to convince you that they are the best. In fact, you knowing only jeopardizes them and what they do.

I noticed during my three tours before my honorable discharge, from both active duty Marines and the National Guard. That the military is jam packed with brave, dedicated, professional people completely unaware that most of what they do is to prop up a military industrial complex that screws over the taxpayer, props up dictators, funds both sides of a conflict and supports tyrants that then produce a backlash that provides the reason why generations of youth wind up getting recruited by terrorists organizations that promise liberation and only provide more evil. It's like being a knight in shining armor thinking you are going to slay dragons, then you find yourself occupying other countries, supporting monarchies and tyrants in the name of democracy and kicking dogs in the street. I say to these brave people. If you truly want to be brave, truly want to serve freedom and democracy stop serving the military industrial complex, and serve humanity.

People do not understand how special or unique it is for the public to be able to see these videos and pictures; to observe the nation’s elite of the elite in action. The idea of recording the feats of a country’s finest warriors for people back home to witness would be beyond belief for 99% of this planet’s historical residents. At no other time in history has this been possible. The writings of Homer were the closest thing people could get in ancient times to a first hand account. It’s pretty amazing and quite the privilege.
It’s the equivalent of the citizens of Sparta being able to watch the flower of Pella, Leonidas’s 300 handpicked men stack Persian bodies at the coast of Thermopylae. It’s the equivalent of the citizens of London spectating Henry V and his elite retinue of bowmen stand their ground against French knights at Agincourt.
All this only to also realize that we aren’t even scratching 1% of the surface of everything they do that will never even see the light of day, let alone be recorded. Insane! Be thankful for what you get to see these men do from afar.

In 1985 I worked with a fellow Captain. He was the prototypical Infantry Airborne Ranger: Max APFT, muscles on his muscles. Went to qualify for Delta and was back in a week. He aced the qualification except for one thing. He was too musclebound to do the Crab Walk, that simple little test of scampering around on your ass. He did not know it was part of the quals, or he would have reshaped his body for it. They said he could try again in six months. Don't know if he tried again since he rotated out a couple of months later.

People talk about the sacrifice these guys make on the battle field but let’s talk about the sacrifice they make on the home front too, the divorce rate for navy seals is 90% and I doubt the delta rate is any lower, these guys prolly spend a majority of the year deployed, it costs them their wives, their relationship with their kids, their friends, these guys sacrifice extends far beyond the battlefield and I’m eternally grateful that we got men like this who are just simply built different looking after us, I would love to say I could do what they do but realistically 99.99% of us wouldn’t last a day in their shoes. These men are truly are truly superhero’s and I wish them nothing but health and happiness in life, I just finished watching the video and am currently buying testosterone pills as we speak, just so my balls can be 1/1000 the size of theirs. When some come home and realize they can't turn off the violence in their minds, they kill themselves in order not to hurt their loved ones. Freedom isn't free, it costs these guys' lives and loves to an extent that's beyond most people's imagination. That said, thanks to them Americans can sleep securely at night. So you’ll now be hitting a group earlier. After completing your Q course and new 18 series MOS training. If you’re about it go ahead man. There’s folks in their mid 30s who go through SFAS. Kicking doors leasing a rein of terror to kids and their parents. Kicking door, flash banging the piss out of families and so on. All who partook usually aren't feeling like they are making a positive change in the world. Something is causing the crazy veteran suicide rate.

Even from a layman's perspective, it's fascinating to watch how deliberate and fast they are in their movements (necessary for obvious reasons). One thing I've heard multiple "Tier 1" operators say in interviews when asked what separates their units from others is the speed they perform at. The difference is noticeable even on video. I know it happens (probably more than anyone wants to admit), but how these units are able to assault buildings and not accidentally kill every non-combatant inside is baffling considering the tempo. Professionals working under the literal highest stakes imaginable.

I knew Delta had copied their shooting house from the SAS, so Delta was shooting so many damn rounds in their shooting house it needed its own budget line item...as they say practice makes perfect (a PhD. The blurry, driven, passion of warfare; the absolute bliss in the center of the hurricane. That though of just "Yes... We made it, it was all worth it."
I could be assuming everything here, like who's even saying that and why, but it just hits a certain nerve inside me every time I see that one clip; and when all of this training and mental torrure I'm currently putting myself through is over, I'll be in that same delta force group helicopter ride dropping into my deployment saying "Oh my gosh... I'm here... I'm finally here."
If you're also getting ready for Ranger School, BUDs, MARSOC training, or any other SOF training. Please remember this comment, and look at that clip. Just imagine it's YOU there in that helicopter saying that.

manny 1 they are heroes for you, for the people of America, bc they protect your country’s interest. But to the rest of the world they are seen as paid killers. I believe that these people have good intentions, but going to a foreign snd creating a war is just wrong. USA has caused a lot of trouble to a lot of trouble in the Middle East; refugee crisis, overthrowing governments, etc. all the modern day wars in the Middle East could have been avoided, but American propaganda made sure to portrayed these wars as something that would help these countries and as a declaration of war against terrorists. Of course that’s not true; they took down two towers and u destroyed their counties killing millions of people. So to answer your question people might dislike the video Bc they realize that these people are glorified killers. And think about something, if it was the other way around, how would you feel?
