    Doing a similar job on 2 of my great-grandpa's corn knives is what lead me down the rabbit hole of making knives. Mine were even more pitted than this example. I used Evapo-Rust to soak them and then cold blued the blades. Made the scales out of some quarter sawn sycamore that I had. Just for grins I cut the necks and bases off of .223 cases and used them for the lanyard tubes. Hopefully someday they will make their way to a great-grandson.
