As a Gief main, he's simply inventing an excuse for falling for it as it's a common technique to bait people which he falls for every time.
I remember in SFV how he kept falling for the same Akuma Raging Demon setup when the first instance it couldn't have been more obvious it was going to happen. They'd do a cr.hk that he'd block, think he scored the punish to win, and the opponent got his ass with the Raging Demon. He even preemptively celebrated for a literal second before getting caught and he fell for it more than once.
I mean if an Akuma has full bars, it's down to the last round, and they're clearly not using their EX on purpose, it shouldn't take quantum physics to figure out they're going for the Demon but Dale is Dale who's an imbecile.
