Correct, it does not fall under the category of work that is allowed without A&P supervision and sign-off such as a basic oil change would. I have my A&P IA supervise and sign off everything.
I did it on a weekend about 10 hours mainly because I replaced some old wiring in the limit switches. Ignore that index marking of the bearing housing it’s actually symmetrical didn’t need to however I did make marks when indexing the prop gear ring to set the prop rpm limits
