great video!i lived here for 20years and spending most time in my house .your vlog inspire me to truly explore this city i will use your vlogs as guidance ❤
So sad to hear your China episode coming to an end. I've thoroughly enjoyed your videos and your positive vibes. Good to hear that you'll be going back and you really should because there are so many places for you to visit. No short of recommendations. Visiting China in October would be the best season. Where are you headed next?
I have thoroughly enjoyed ur china series. Although im travelling myself for the mext 4 weeks, i will try and catch ur episodes while on the road. If i cant, i will catch up when i get home.
Just some of the places you must go: 1) Lijiang Old Town 2) Zhangjiajie mountains 3) Tibet 4) Guilin 5) Kashgar, old city 6) Chongging, cyberpunk city Owh China just has too many ancient things to see! As somebody once said, you will take a lifetime to discover the Middle Kingdom!
Xizang(Tibet) should be chosen with caution, not because it's not good, but because the average person may not handle altitude sickness well. It might be better to first try cities with lower altitudes.
Some recommendations: Huangshan (yellow mountains) for stunning scenery, the ancient water towns around Shanghai (Venices of China) such as Wuzhen, Haerbin to see the ice sculptures in winter, Kashgar to experience Uyghur culture and traditions
I'm glad to see that you enjoyed your time here in China. If you ever come back to Shanghai again, I would recommend you to check the West Bund / New Bund (西岸/前滩) area, and the nearby Expo Culture Park, it's a great area full of art galleries and trendy places for locals to hang out. Also I would recommend you to visit Qingdao in Shandong Province (A Province just north of Nanjing). Qingdao is a beautiful coastal city famous for its ocean views, mountains and colonial architectures. You can also enjoy a lot of seafood and beers there! This city is lesser known to foreigners so you would be one the earliest to visit.
Just caught up on your China series in time to watch this episode. Glad to see you had a great time overall. For your next visit, I strongly recommend getting out of the big cities and seeing some of the natural wonders like Zhangjiajie, Huanglong, Huangshan, a cruise down the Yellow River... or even a good chunk of Yunnan province. I've personally wanted to travel the full length of the silk road from Xi'an to Istanbul (including a visit to the Darvaza Gas Crater) but that's a big undertaking, especially if done overland (~3months). It can also be dangerous depending on the geopolitical tensions at the time.
Thank you so much for the tips on where to visit! I've had the best time and really want to see more of China later this year :) Everyone keeps saying i need to get to Harbin...
@@travelforphoebe only Recommend u to go Harbin during Dec 21 to earlier Feb. Harbin Ice and Snow World is the highlight of the city, featuring a vast array of ice and snow sculptures. Towering ice castles, intricate figurines and replicas of famous landmarks are all crafted with astonishing precision. These sculptures are not only a feast for the eyes but also a testament to the incredible artistry and creativity of the craftsmen.
@ Yep, what Tracy said in regards to timing to visit Harbin. I've never been but it looks cool (no pun intended) but mainly for the ice and snow sculptures. If you're up in the north-west side of China for Harbin, consider trip down to Dandong too. It's a river city much like Brisbane. On one side is China, and on the other side is North Korea!

I first came cross your channel from the Beijing episode, and as someone currently living abroad who spent over a decade in Beijing and is a descendant of Northeast China ethnic minority, i absolutly love and apprciate your videos. I subscribed and hit the like button without hesitation. A custom solo travel itinerary combined with a reliable local guide is honestly the best way to explore China. You're doing an amazing job! Keep it up. Speaking of your next trip to China, I have a few suggestions. You could consider using major cities as hubs and exploring the nearby smaller towns or ntural spots that have more charm and character. For example, around Shanghai and Hangzhou, you've got those amazing Jiangnan water towns like Zhouzhuang, Wuzhen, and Shaoxing, etc ----- all totally worth a visit. Another one: if you're able to stay longer, plan your trip based on the seasons and local festivals (but definitely avoid China's public holidays ---- they're a travel nightmare). You could dive deeper into inland provinces like the Northwest, Southwest, or Northeast (my hometown area). These areas have unique lifestyles and ethnic minorites living alongside Han communities, showing off one of my favorite things about China ---- its diversity. The people are different, the landscapes are different, and of course, the food is so different. There's an old Chinese saying:"一方水土,养一方人" (Every region nurtures its people in unique ways), and it couldn't be truer. Don't worry about safety ----quiet a lot of foreiners have already explored these places before you. But I'd love to see them through YOUR PERSPECTIVE. Just do some good research, stay open-minded, and enjoy the journey! Whatever you do, stay safe and have fun ---- that's what matters most. You're more than welcome, Phoebe!

Hiya! Meet and eat with the locals is always great! I’ve had so much good food and chats with local people all around the globe. It seems that China has some nice hidden gems, I feel like China doesn’t have much coverage online as the internet is restricted over there, but you did a pretty good coverage of Shanghai. Heyyyy im so happy to see you visit my hometown, miss there everyday .And the way you as a solo traveler is very smart and efficient. Still hope you could spend more time travel around China .i will definitely recommend Yunnan province, one of my favourite is city-Dali. That area will bring you lots of Joy . Wish you all the best and new episodes of your Journey ❤
Hello and welcome! I am a Shanghai citizen, but I was born and raised in Nanjing as a kid due to my parents' jobs. Glad to know that you like my two hometowns! China is really huge and has different climates in different areas and seasons, if you want to see more authentic and diversity part of china, you can go to areas that more close to country borders like Yunnan (Cities like Kunming, Dali)/Guangxi(Guilin,Yangshuo) in Spring. Summer could be really humid and hot in many areas so avoid those places (but is cooler in provinces like Guizhou/Inner Mongolia and the nature scenes are very beautiful in those places). Also there are two cities you can easily go to from Shanghai called Suzhou and Hangzhou, those are typical "Jiangnan" cities and have a strong cultural influneces for traditional chinese arts after Ming Dynasty. For foods you can go to Guangdong province, Cantonese people are really good at making delicious crusines lol. In winter Northern part of China is also a must go option, there are cities which has Russian influences like Harbin and Korean influnces like Yanji or the origin of Qing Dynasty (greater city area of Shenyang), and the price for traveling is way lower than many places. Hope you have more enjoyable trips in the future, peace!
@ Being a former Poertuguese colony, Macao has a different aesthetic and the local food also differs from that of HK. Since you've been to HK already, being only across the bay, so one might think why not. It's a 45min ferry ride from HK, or you can go by car using the 55km Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge, one of the longest if not the longest bridge on earth.
Should visit the following places next time - you will be wowed; 1) Wangxian Valley @ Shangrao Jiangxi 2) Furong Ancient Town @ Hunan 3) Jiuzaigou + Dujiangyan @ Chengdu
Hi Phoebe, I highly recommend visiting Guilin (which actually is my hometown), a city renowned for its unique karst landscapes and heaven-like scenery. Guilin's breathtaking landscape is so iconic that it appears on the 20-yuan note of Chinese currency. The city's tourism industry is well-developed, so it should be easy for you to design your travel plan or find a local guide. Enjoy your trip in China :)
Hey, beautiful girl, you have visited some cities in China, but you haven't visited China's natural landscape and ancient towns. I recommend China's natural landscape: Zhangjiajie, Huangshan, Jiuzhaigou, Moon Valley and Guilin's landscape ... And then I recommend China's ancient towns: Old Town of Lijiang, Dali, Fenghuang and furong town ... These places are definitely worth exploring!
there are so many places that you can visit next time and I would highly recommend Chongqing (Chongching), Dali, Lijiang and other southwestern cities there. If you are more interested in coastal area, I would say Xiamen (Shamen) is a good choice.
Your video has been reposted on some platforms in China for example bilibili.Your smile is very special and Very attentive introduction to history and culture.I hope you have fun in China.
😬 not reposted… stolen! I’m trying to get support from bilibili to help fix this. I think I just need to start an account ☺️ I’m so happy to hear you like the videos.
Shanghai is definitely on our bucket list and you gave some great ideas! Also I’m sure you hear this all the time but you look so much like the actress Blake Lively.
Recommend Guangzhou in southern China. A modern tier-1 city with 2200 years of history and very famous food. Some of the best attractions are: Nanyue King Musem, Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Yuexiu Hill, Yongqing Fang, Zhujiang New Town, Pearl River cruise.
I like how you give the Australian dollar conversion, much appreciated. 😀 We are going to China in April is it hard to find better coffee options than Starbucks?
@travelforphoebe a lot of travel vloggers are from the UK or US so we normally get their conversions but at least yours is relevant to us. We are tossing up between spending more time in Shanghai or Hong Kong on the way home to Perth, which did you prefer?
Ahhhh, you are missing the Chinese New Year by a few days! Indeed, I think China is the best travel destination, with most genuine honest people, cultural heritage like France and Italy, natural beauty like American West, safety like Singapore, and diverse culinary experience like no other place. Happy travels!
Suzhou, renowned for it canals and classical gardens;Guilin/Yangshuo, natural scenery;Zhangjiajie,Avatar Mountains, too many paces……BTW, for Shanghai tours, Shanghai History Museum is a great place to go, where records the 6000 years of vicissitude that has taken place in this city.
Highly recommend Quanzhou if you’re interested in history and cultural heritage, it’s by far my favourite city in China. It’s a religion/architecture museum and food paradise. It’s the world’s largest port 1000 years ago and a UNESCO World Heritage.
I thoroughly enjoyed your China series and look forward to bringing my 5 year old son to China when he is older. I have been once, in 1981 when China was just opening up to the West. I can only imagine how the country has changed since then. I hope you are well. Did you take a fall? I noticed both your knees are bruised.
In summer time, go visit China’s Switzerland in Khanars lake in north Xinjiang northwest China and see the great steppe in Hulunbeir in Inner Mongolia in northeast China.
Yunnan is home to 26 ethnic groups, offering rich cultural experiences. Visit the ethnic villages, Dali, Lijiang Old Town, and the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain!
I recommend Yunnan-Lijiang, Jiuzhaigou Valley, Hangzhou for Natural beauty and scenery. Shenzhen, Guangzhou as for futuristic cities and amazing architecture. Also please stop drinking Starbucks - for great cafes look for Specialty coffee places.

The editing skill is amazing!
wonderful. tnx for sharing.
You should visit Suzhou and Hangzhou which is close to Shanghai. 😊 You won’t be disappointed. Trust me. Very very nice and beautiful towns.
That transition from afternoon Skyline to nighttime skyline was smooth. Don't think we didn't notice. :)
😂😂😂 I am soooo glad you clocked it! It’s so cool right! 🔥🔥🔥
Please go to explore some of the north eastern part of China, like Shenyang!
Okay!
for your next china visit I recommend the following route: Changsha - Guangzhou - Shenzhen - Hong Kong (for transit to your next destination).
Okay!!
@@travelforphoebe .....or you can visit Macao instead of Hong Kong if you've never been. It will be a minor detour from Shenzhen though.
I've never been to Macao! You think it's a good spot for me? I have it in my mind it's just for casino's... is there good food and culture there?
@ Being a former Poertuguese colony, Macao has a different aesthetic and the local food also differs from that of HK. Since you've been to HK already, being only across the bay, so one might think why not. It's a 45min ferry ride from HK, or you can go by car using the 55km Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge, one of the longest if not the longest bridge on earth.
Glad to see you enjoy everything at SH.
Should visit the following places next time - you will be wowed;
1) Wangxian Valley @ Shangrao Jiangxi 2) Furong Ancient Town @ Hunan
3) Jiuzaigou + Dujiangyan @ Chengdu
Okay!! Thank you 🥰🙌🏻
Ganhou um seguidor brasileiro que ama a China, viva os BRICS 🇧🇷🇨🇳♥️❤️🇯🇴
Pheobe, you should do Harbin and Chongqing!
I would LOVE to do both
Thanks for sharing, Shanghai is really worth a visit!
Right?! It’s incredible. 🤩
Wow! This is a great list, I’m making notes! 🤩
@@travelforphoebe Visit Wuzhen, One of the best ancient water towns around Shanghai
u are always welcome to be back in china~
there are so many places that you can visit next time and I would highly recommend Chongqing (Chongching), Dali, Lijiang and other southwestern cities there. If you are more interested in coastal area, I would say Xiamen (Shamen) is a good choice.
Thanks for the great recommendations! 🙏🏼 Chongqing is super high on my list! It looks amazing :)

Thank you!!
Oh, they didn't get you into the Jing'an temple! Such a pity... It's absolutely wonderful.
Thank you for sharing! Shanghai is so big and wonderful! China is Shangri-La everywhere!!!!!
It’s such a special place! 🥰
I like how you give the Australian dollar conversion, much appreciated. 😀
We are going to China in April is it hard to find better coffee options than Starbucks?
You’re welcome! 🥰 I find it helpful to know the conversion too 😄
@travelforphoebe a lot of travel vloggers are from the UK or US so we normally get their conversions but at least yours is relevant to us. We are tossing up between spending more time in Shanghai or Hong Kong on the way home to Perth, which did you prefer?
Personally, Shanghai 🙌🏻

wow, your journey in Shanghai looks so tasty!
Love ur video. Come back to China soon!
Ahhhh, you are missing the Chinese New Year by a few days! Indeed, I think China is the best travel destination, with most genuine honest people, cultural heritage like France and Italy, natural beauty like American West, safety like Singapore, and diverse culinary experience like no other place. Happy travels!
Next time you come to China, you can go to China's seaside, the scenery is beautiful, such as Sanya in Hainan.
Okay! Thanks for the tips ☺️🙌🏻 hoping to visit again later this year
U should go to the northern part of shinjiang, the mountains there r amazing
I’m a local and I have moved to Canada since 2018. I missed every part of my home. Thanks for ur video
Thanks for the suggestions! 🙌🏻
Shanghai, this amazing, futuristic city. 🥳🥳🥳
♥️♥️♥️
Maybe do all the coastal cities. Xiamen, Qingdao and check out Harbin?
Okay!!
Highly recommend Quanzhou if you’re interested in history and cultural heritage, it’s by far my favourite city in China. It’s a religion/architecture museum and food paradise. It’s the world’s largest port 1000 years ago and a UNESCO World Heritage.
Amazing!!! Thank youuuuu
歡迎你來到我的祖國,雖然我是中國人,但你去過的國內城市比我還多😅 很喜歡你的影片,而且還有中文字幕,已經訂閱❤

I thoroughly enjoyed your China series and look forward to bringing my 5 year old son to China when he is older. I have been once, in 1981 when China was just opening up to the West. I can only imagine how the country has changed since then. I hope you are well. Did you take a fall? I noticed both your knees are bruised.
In summer time, go visit China’s Switzerland in Khanars lake in north Xinjiang northwest China and see the great steppe in Hulunbeir in Inner Mongolia in northeast China.
Lovely lady, I like your sharing very much.❤ Have a good time in China.
Thank you! 🥰
I love China 🇨🇳🇨🇳❤️❤
Yunnan is home to 26 ethnic groups, offering rich cultural experiences. Visit the ethnic villages, Dali, Lijiang Old Town, and the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain!
