Never been to Shanghai; it looks like I should pay a visit soon. Spotless clean, so much great food, very orderly everywhere. Look at the air quality. It looks so transparent. China has improved so much over the past few decades.

It’s amazing how clean energy has cleaned up the air in big cities. Most have around 50% EVs now, and all the scooters are electric too. The streets are so quiet compared to our streets here in Canada-it adds to China’s chill vibe. Thanks for watching, more videos are coming.

WOW what a view from your hotel room. People are moving in orderly fashion even when you are getting on and off the subway trains. This is so much better than 15 years ago when I was in China for the first time. The subway station looks so futuristic and like an modern art museum. This makes the infrastructures look like a third world country. The city is so clean and the air quality seems so much better now. John seems like he is from a small town person who is so fascinated by everything he sees in Shanghai. Yes, I got that feeling too during my first trip in Shanghai 15 years ago. It is hard for someone from a Canadian city or American city to imagine the scale of amount of people for any given time on the streets. But despite all the crowds and traffic, I felt very safe and peace in China. OMG that sugar candy looks so amazing. That restaurant is typical Hong Kong style fusion cuisine. All dishes look so delicious but a lot of calories. What I like Shanghai about is that it has the West and East, expensive and cheap, excitement and relax. Come on, $45 CAD for all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast in a decent hotel? That is a bargain. In Canada, you will not get that deal anywhere for that quality.

It was interesting the way you explained about pedestrian crossing in Shanghai at 11:00. The pedestrian crossing indicator was RED, clearly you have to wait for it to turn green, same as in Vancouver or any Canadian major cities. You do not have right of way when the pedestrian light was red.

I think he said “when you don’t have lights” you don’t have the right of way. Road vehicles in China have the right of way if there is no lights stopping them for you to walk. Even when the light is red they will cross if it’s clear. They do not automatically stop for pedestrians like they do in Canada. You have to wait for the traffic to clear before you walk. I want to ask a question that may "unpleasant". The Canadian government has posted notices at airports and other places to warn tourists going to China.
    1. Don't carry too much cash with you. There are too many “pickpockets” in China.
    2. Be careful with your mobile phones, cameras, laptops and other electronic products. Robberies happen from time to time on the streets of China even in Shanghai。
    3. Don't talk casually and strangers in China. China has serious surveillance.
    4. Foreigners are often sexually harassed in public places in China.
    5. Pay attention to the surrounding environment at all times. Gunmen killing people on the streets, terrorist incidents happen frequently。
Is this “government has posted notices” true???

I can only comment on my incredible experience visiting China and speak for myself as a foreigner. I think it’s difficult to navigate all of the misinformation we are fed on a daily basic and I feel everyone needs to educate themselves, the truth is available to all of us, you just have to find it. Keep an open mind and go experience China for yourself and you will see the real China, then you can makeup your own mind. I didn’t have any bad experiences in China, hospitality is their specialty.

I had to get used to no tax and no tips. It’s nice to pay only what you see on the price tag or restaurant menu, and everything is so affordable. When Derek first came to Canada, he was confused by how the price isn’t what you actually pay. With 12% tax and 15% for tips, it adds up.
