The effect looks so good, especially with the LED candles on the doorstep. Always good to see other KM techniques. I was thinking of a handbag, but I guess you can just iron on the interfacing directly to the knit fabric 🤔
My first thought when I saw this technique was those 16th century stand up lace collars. Normally you’d be pinning the lace to a wire support, but I bet you could make something that would stand up on its own using this technique… slightly ambitious for a first project though, I might start with a ghost
Lovely... Unfortunately I could not get my greedy paws on a knitting machine, so my interest is 110 per cent theoretical. However, would it be possible to knit this solely with copper wire? Would hand knitting be possible, with acrylic yarn and the copper wire running together?
Yes, it would be possible to knit it by hand, the wire has no stretch, so it can be a bit hard on your hands, but I have made bracelets with beads and wire with knitting needles. It is also easier to knit than purl with wire, so just knit every row. I would also use barbeque tongs to move the hot pieces around to prevent burns when heating the acrylic.🥵
Yes it's possible to knit and crochet with wire. You'll want to be careful and be sure to take breaks often as the wire is hard on your hands. Undoing may break the wire.
Great technique. I’m anxious to see all the applications for this that you come up with.
Those are fantastic, I’m just wondering if I brave enough to try it

I would imagine so, just hold the yarn and wire together.
