    I've had my ninja creami for about 8 months now. I got it after watching the pro home cook demonstrate it here on youtube. My wildest dreams of frozen confection have come true. However, every video I see here is all about making sweet treats. I live in Australia. One of the hottest and driest country's in the world, where Summer temps get over 100F on a normal day, every day. My ninja creami has been put to the test for making things other than ice cream or sorbets. One evening I experimented much to the delight of my dinner guests, in making frozen gazpacho soup. I made the base soup and mixed in fresh finely chopped capsicum, diced cucumber and tomatoes. I served it with fresh chilled prawns and an icy cold green salad. It was not only a hit, but everyone wanted to know how I made it. (several of my friends now own a ninja creami). I've also made frozen cucumber sorbet and avocado sorbet, which is fantastic with seafood. Not only do I make a range of icy savoury foods, I can give my guests a choice of what they'd like. I serve these as an entree and even main courses. There is nothing better than roasting through a stinking hot day and dealing with the heat of the night than to be cooled down with an icy soup. Love your tips. Cheers

    Just bought the gadget and already have a tip... Before you freeze the ice cream, taste it. If you don't like the taste as a wet mix, it ain't gonna taste better frozen.... 😂

    • @jeremycarter
      @jeremycarter Рік тому +19

      Great idea, but having made ice cream tons of times, the taste improves as the temp decreases or when it’s turned into ice cream. Quite a few times I thought, “wow! Not sweet enough”, added more sugar tried it again and thought it was just right. When I turned it and then ate it, it was too sweet.

    I let mine sit out for 15 min, then run under hot water around the outside. Helps to break that "ice wall" and incorporate everything. Also helps prevent blade scratches and plastic chipping I've seen people have issues with!

      Im not quite sure, but I think the cases where the blade shreds the inside of the pint, it is because they bought a 3rd party pint container. Once again I am not 100% sure on this.

    • @Gabriel.Q
      @Gabriel.Q 10 місяців тому +2

      I don't think this is a good idea at all.
      There are notched holes on the bottom so that your frozen block doesn't just spin freely when the blade hits it. By melting the outsides, you soften/melt the area at the bottom as well.

    Love those tips and learned a lot! Being a passionate Creami user myself, I can also contribute one tip that worked out real well for me: before putting them into the freezer I label my pints by writing the type of ice cream that’s in them on the lid with a dry erase pen. After the ice cream is spun and eaten, the dry erase writing wipes off easily with a damp cloth.

    A really good classic custard base that I use is
    4 egg yolks
    83 grams sugar
    230 ml cream
    100 ml whole or 2% milk
    I vanilla bean
    Process the vanilla bean and add to the milk and cream
    Combine eggs and sugar in a bowl and whisk until smooth
    Scald milk and cream temper eggs once mixture has reached 170 Fahrenheit
    Cook the milk cream and eggs in a double boiler until thickened should occur once the mixture is at 180 Fahrenheit
    Remove from heat cool and process
    This yields almost exactly one pint and you can add a lot to this base to flavor it differently. Also feel free to add more or less cream as long as it’s 330 ml of liquid it will fit the container your texture and flavor will change with different liquids however.

    I miss making my own ice cream. I quit after finding out how bad aluminum is for you. Most traditional ice cream makers have aluminum containers. So I quit. Until I just found out about this unit this evening. I'm so glad you mentioned Kohls as I was going to order on Amazon. With their sale and my coupon I got in the mail, I saved $48 over what the cost was on Amazon. And I'm getting the deluxe because I want more options. I also went ahead and ordered the extra pints. Love your videos!

    After respin twice it’s fine but already quite soft. Can’t avoid it. It came from the freezer totally frozen cold but after the first round icecream plus twice respin it’s warmer and for my taste too soft. And respin is needed always. I have never had icecream ready after the first round. Therefore I wonder why the manual doesn’t just describe it this way right from the beginning. Otherwise all fine.

      I have a great way to make ice cream with no machines, really easy too. You need a couple ziplock bags, kosher salt, and ice. Put your ice cream ingredients in one bag and zip it up well. In another ziplock bag, put a bunch of ice cubes and sprinkle a few tbspn of kosher salt over the ice. Put the bag of ingredients into the ice bag and, shake shake shake! Shake it all around for about 10 mins, and it turns into ice cream.
      You NEED to use Kosher salt. Do NOT use regular table salt or any other kind of salt.
      Also, sometimes I put the bag of ingredients into another ziplock bag just to make sure none of the salt leaks into the ingredients.

    I was given a Ninja Creami as a nice Mother’s Day gift. I’m wondering if anyone else is having problems with the install flashing. I have read and reread all the quick guidance instructions. I plugged in the unit before putting the bowl in the unit. I’ve double checked my locks on the lid and the bowl and I’ve let my fruit sit out to thaw as suggested, I double and triple checked my Blade to make sure it was installed properly but no matter what once I select the sorbet Setting the install button starts flashing. it does not flash when I turn it on. It’s just after I select the sorbet. I have not tried any other options. has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts?

    Do you have to refreeze and respin if you don’t eat it all? I want to be able to take the treats out and put them in freezer safe containers and keep my pints available to new bases if possible.

    • @emerje0
      @emerje0 Рік тому +1

      It isn't recommended. They recommend keeping your concoction in the container and NOT using the re-spin button. But personally, if it's a traditional ice cream then it's probably fine to move it to a different container, it's the sorbet or anything made with little fat content that's likely to refreeze into a solid ice cube again.

      I mean, if that's something you really want to do you can dump a can of basically anything in the container and freeze it. People do it all the time with canned fruit. For broccoli you'd want to cook it first and add a liquid so there's no loose pieces when you freeze it.

    I used my ninja creami a couple times and haven’t had a prob. Tired this new recipe I found on YT it is a low fat content recipe but I followed it exactly the same way and ingredients as the video and they used the lite ice cream setting . My first time trying it came out great . Now when I do it it’s scratching the sides of my pint . I didn’t change my freezer setting but thinking it may be too hard . I did thaw it for 20 mins the first time and it was good . Thawed it again for the same time and it scraped the sides . My freezer is on 0 F which is between the recommended ninja settings .
    How hard / soft is your mixture before you process it if you don’t mind me asking ? Usually letting it sit 15-20 mins is just enough to start scraping and leveling the numb in the middle . I tried letting it thaw longer and had the same issue again . Any ideas ? I don’t think it’s the fat content bc the YY recipe works for that person and I’ve read in my creami fb group about people using just almond milk bases on lite iccream and i definitely used a thicker PB milk base compared to almond milk . The recipe is just 1 cup of milk 12 g pudding mix & I scoop of protein i process in my blender and freeze 24 hrs .
    I did call ninja and they are sending me a new machine for free but part of me doesn’t think the machine is broken or the issue . Maybe it is . I guess I’ll try the new one but if you have any suggestions on what it could be I’d appreciate it . Sorry for the long comment . Thanks !
