I think Poles said he thought that an interior rusher is more important than an edge rusher because it’s the shortest distance to the QB so that leads me to believe he’ll take Byron Murphy over an edge.
He’s going to want “top talent” as he said. He also said it doesn’t matter if we get more picks, or have less picks, whatever needs to happen to make it work.
I think he will stay at #9 and see how it goes with the WRs. If it looks like one will land at #9, he will nab him. If not, he will either take Bowers or trade up with a 2005 3rd round pick to get the last WR.
Then he will trade the 2025 1st or 2nd pick, plus this years #75 and #122, and get back in the first round between #13 - #19. He will draft one of the top 3 edge rushers or one of the top 3 defensive tackles.
He basically is using the 2025 1st or 2nd rounder this year instead of next year. What he’s giving up is this years #75 and #122. He’s not wasting our future pick as people think. He’s still using it on a 1st round talent.
Drafts picks will be:
1st pick: Caleb Williams
2nd pick: Nabers, Odunze, or Bowers
3rd pick: Latu, Turner, Verse, Murphy II, or Newton.
If he doesn’t need to add the #122 pick to make the trade, we will pick someone there with that pick. But I doubt we keep it. Just depends what # he is wanting to trade for.
Now that is “top talent” as he is wanting. And I believe he would probably take Murphy II or Newton since he likes a DT here, as you said, that he said.

One thing for sure- Bears will take O-line in the first round. No way Poles brings in a #1QB, HoF WR, RB, TE, and OC and relies on this mediocre line with so many question marks.
The line really ain’t that bad. Fields definitely didn’t help make them look as good as they really were.

It would be a mistake to trade up from #9. I don’t think it would be a mistake to trade down if they got a sweat deal because they have several weaknesses they could fix in this draft.
We drafted like 8 or 10 players last yrs time to get franchise type player and stop gambling with all this trade down shit u got know when u winning and cash out
D- for Depends. I’d want 1 of the top 3 WR. If I had to trade up using #9 & a 2 or 3 round next year for 1 I’d do it, especially for MHJ. I might take Bowers at 9 if all 3 are gone & no trades. I wouldn’t trade down.

My guy at 9 or trading back optimally is Brian Thomas Jr. He’s gonna end up as one of the best players in the draft( my opinion) he fits the Bears perfectly; big , fast, has some YAC and is great in the Red Zone and is a true X receiver which they need!

Poles is bringing in Caleb his prized pick, you don’t think he’ll draft the best offensive player to protect and make sure he looks good on the field. No way he goes defense. This is a top 5 defense already. The offense needs love too

I would either stay at nine possibly trade up to get Marvin Harrison Junior as long as I don’t have to give up next year’s first round pick if I can get up next year second round pick I do it
Move up use their 3 draft picks this year & 2nd Rd & jump up to #4 & pick MHJ
I’d prefer they trade down if they can get a 2nd rounder back. I know the trade calculator says moving down from like 9-14 should only net a 3rd. If a team is trying to trade up for a QB like McCarthy I think that changes things though. Hopefully there are multiple teams trying to move up. Gives them even more leverage to demand a 2nd. Then they can take the best DL available on the board with that 1st rounder. Then they can take advantage of the deep WR class and grab a good prospect with that 2nd round pick. One of Lagette, Pearsall, McConkey and a handful of other guys will still be there.
What about Jared verse or chop Robinson???

The most dangerous receiver after MHJr is Brock Bowers. Brock Bowers is a bruiser with speed. Come playoff time he will be unstoppable.
