I needed to hear this. I’m in the same situation with my father. Except we did a million in sales but i feel we’ve been stagnant and not growing as we should.
They need to train the employees. If you don't train your people and reward them when they step up, you will always be running around cleaning up after them. If you have four people doing it wrong and they don't even know how to do it right, with one person running like a crazy person trying to fix it all you will always be behind. The dad needs to go out with the best tech show them the correct way to do the install. Then how to trouble shoot problems, how to break down and divide a problem, get that tech able to walk on their own and move to the next one. A year from now you will have happy customers, more work and be making some profit. Two years from everyone will be surprised how smooth the place runs and how much more money there is to go around.
16 years as a business, how long have there been employee's? If the dad is what gets the customers then the tech's need to step up because they seem to be ruining the business. Dad needs to make sure the tech's are doing what needs to be done. It's time for dad to check what everybody is doing. And as Dave said three strikes and your out.

hahahaha this is awesome
Tell the techs to check that sub cooling before leaving 🤣
Also sounds like a training issue. Dad's role needs to shift to where he is most needed: trainer and vetter of new employees

There's a difference between owning a business and owning your job
