Sorry, but while I'm glad she helped abused children, she did so with Frank's money. From what I've heard, she married up, repeatedly, and Frank was not a happy man with her in the end, but appearances are everything in tinsel town. I respect Nancy Sinatra Sr much, much more. She helped many, many charities in her lifetime. She was a true Angel, married Frank young, had 3 children by him and he left her for another woman, Ava. She remained a true friend and confidant to him. I don't think Frank loved her as the most passionate love in his life but I believe he respected her and loved her as the most IMPORTANT, trusted person in his life and turned to her for the remainder of his life for advice. And she was ALWAYS there for him. That, my friends, is true love.
That's WONDERFUL that she helped soooooo MANY children, but I ALWAYS think about Frank's first wife, Nancy, who actually got him started in the business. You NEVER hear anything about her!!!! She actually made ALL of the ties he would wear.
You know, I did too. I hadn’t been born yet, in his heyday but remember, as a little girl him appearing on my mom’s “Photoplay” magazine covers! Nancy always appeared to be such a devoted wife & good mother to their children. How amazing that Nancy made all of his ties! After he remarried Nancy stopped for new wife(s) grew resentful sending food over but Frank & Nancy had a good relationship until they both passed away. I read she never stopped loving him, too!♥️
Barbara sounds like a great lady, but I agree about Nancy being just as wonderful! She was his first love and first wife. It's a shame fame got to him, which in a way I can understand, but I always think of Nancy as his real genuine love!
Frank got the Medal of Freedom award, but I always thought Barbara should have received it. Oh, did she tough it out, years and years, waiting for Frank, with his incessant insults and occasional abuse, to lose his marbles and croak so she could finally enjoy his money without him. In fairness to Barbara, she certainly didn't invent that kind of scheme.
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit..." Titus 3:5 "By Grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves, ..Not of works lest any man should boast.." Eph. 2:8-9 The only way to heaven is by grace through faith in Christ.
So you're saying she wasted her time and everyone else's? Right? And You've done Nothing for mankind so you'll be in Heaven VERY shortly after you die? Right?
Jesus also said, "Not all who cry Lord, Lord shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven," meaning that one cannot live a life of sin, disregarding His teachings and commandments, and expect to be saved. It takes both faith and good works, the latter manifesting the former.
According to an autobiography by Tina Sinatra called "My Father's Daughter," Tina said Frank wanted to divorce Barbara, but it would have cost him more than it was worth, especially after the prenuptial agreement was dissolved. Then Frank was thinking of adopting Barbara's child, which set Frank's kids off.
Tina Sinatra came across as a spoiled child of privilege, which she was. Her book was very mean spirited when it came to her step mother and came across very childish. Barbara Sinatra stuck with him for over 20 years, which couldnt have been easy. Barbara showed how classy she was in her book, Lady Blue eyes; by not saying one negative thing about her or any of his children. Tina took every chance she had in her book to make Barbara look bad. Barbara helped countless children and will live on. Tina is a self centered, very selfish woman who has done nothing but ride the coat tails of her father.
No disrespect intended to Barbara but Frank hardly needed to be prodded to help any unfortunates. He preferred to be kept anonymous but he raised and donated more that two Billion dollars worldwide, more than any other "celebrity" that I know of...even largely surpassing the combined totals of ALL of Jerry Lewis's Muscular Dystrophy marathons ..again no disrespect to Jerry's lifelong dedication See the short subject The House I Live In which coming right after WWII won a special Academy Award for its lesson of tolerance. @@littleogeechee223 I heard the same thing! You are so right! Thank-you to you both for mentioning all the good Frank Sinatra did anonymously & quietly, helping many of his show business friends that had fallen on hard times as well. Many times I read he heard or read a story I’m the paper that someone was in a horrible situation & he would quietly send a check to help them out again, anonymously.
Frank Sinatra also paid for all of Ava Gardner's rent & medical bills all the years after they divorced. She was Frank's 2nd wife & many say she was the true love of his life.
In 1976, when she and Frank married, Barbara was looking very good indeed for a woman pushing 50. My goodness, she was a glamorous woman and by the accounts here, a generous and socially conscious citizen.
Bárbara Marx The only Mrs. Sinatra was Frank's first wife, Nancy, this children's mother. Nancy and Tina did not want anything to do with her because she kept them from seeing their dad. Frank was dying and Barbara didn't let them know.
according to Tina's book, Barbara tried to get Frank to give her Son his name and Frank's kids stepped in. Also, when he passed they let Barbara take the money, but she couldn't do anything with the Sinatra name, so I wasn't surprised they weren't there
She was "much more" because she had Sinatra's money to do it with! She wasn't always a nice lady, but her work for the children is certainly appreciated, which she did, of course, with Frank's money! She was a bit head-strong and snubbed Frank's children, which was too bad. But there are always two sides to any story and not our business to explain either. But she would often see jewels in the window at places they went and would tell him how much she admired that piece, swoon over it, and of course, Sinatra would buy it for her. She was quite a gold-digger really. She had one son from, I think, her first marriage, and she made sure HE got things that were Sinatra's BEFORE he married her and should have gone to his children. She never really made friends with his children. But why, is not our business to ponder. (Personally, I think she was jealous of Nancy Sr., because Nancy remained Frank's friend, and he often went to her for counsel; they remained close, and Frank certainly saw to it that Nancy was well taken care of.) Barbara called herself "Lady Blue Eyes" -- no one else did, except those who helped her with her book, and she liked the title so called her book by that title. Barbara certainly knew how to get what she wanted, and always did, largely due to her last name!!
You should have taken to heart the old saying " if you can't say something nice about someone who has passed, then don't say anything at all". Why did you feel compelled to be so crappy?? My Mother once went to a funeral for the meanest, ugliest, most terrible old lady in town. Only two or three people showed up, so there was no one willing to speak a few words for the deceased. My Mom was elected. Poor Mom, she really didn't know anything good to say about Hazel. She thought about it for a few minutes, and then said "we will miss Hazel, she had the nicest set of dentures I had ever seen". See, it's not so difficult to find something good to say. If you really just can't, then please, do everyone a favor. Including yourself, and keep your mouth shut!!
In 1991 I saw Barbara in a concert by her husband. She stood up, she was dressed in bright yellow. She would have taken a lot from Frank especially during his moods.
She took a lot of abuse at first. When Frank became feeble, she could start to enjoy his money more without all his slapping her around and insulting her. After he croaked in 1998, she was finally free. Kudos to Barbara for waiting it out patiently. If ever two people didn't love each other, it was Frank and Barbara, but she certainly had something for him. No, not a great mind.
Croucho. Thanks, I needed that after a hard day! Barbara's first husband was actually a small-time businessman and Frank Sinatra imitator. Number 2 was Zeppo Marx, the fourth brother who made his fortune from being an agent and inventor. But Barbara loved Frank, number 3 more, because there was more money... a LOT more money to love.
