Perfect tripod for bird and landscape photography? Gitzo GT3543 LS Review (4 years)

Finding a good tripod is not easy. I was looking for a sturdy but still lightweight tripod that I can comfortably use for both bird, wildlife and landscape photography. To be able to take ground level shots I preferred a tripod without a center column and ended up with the Gitzo Systematic Series. I bought the product on my own and thought after four years of using it a review would be a good idea.

I think a major advantage is that the plate can be changed. I use 3 different heads (Benro gimbal for sports, Sunwayfoto geared head for macro and landscape and RRS ball-head for general use) and mounted each of them on a separate plate. So now I can easily change my head without any pfaff.
By the way: the hook on the bottom side of the plate can be removed and thereby even further reducing the minimum height.

I had bought this tripod after watching this video. I already have two 1 series tripods from Gitzo, one 4 series from Innorel. Quality from Gitzo is simply 1000x better than Innorel which is a China one. This tripod is the king for birders. You may need to notice it’s a 70mm not 75mm platform for the head.
