- I was looking for a lighter but still stable tripod for my landscape photos. For this I bought the Gitzo GT2545T of the Traveller series (carbon). In this video I want to share my first impressions (mini review) and introduce the tripod and ball head.

Nice setup. I personally use 2 tripods for landscape photography - Really Right Stuff TVC 44 + RRS BH55 ballhead and Gitzo GT5543XLS + Pro Media Gear BH1 ballhead.....heavy setup but works pretty well
Thanks! Yes, definitely heavier (but hopefully also more sturdy) then mine
i put an Acratech head on my GT1545T .. doesn't fold up as well for traveling, but not an issue for me
Thanks for your comment!
Thanks for the video Fabien, very interesting. Recently lost my PD carbon fibre after several happy years of use (left in on a shoot, and on returning found someone else had decided they would like a few happy year's). Currently looking for possible alternatives to PD before buying again maybe. Your video is actually the ONLY tripod review (out of many I have watched ) which mentions warranty, after sales, spare parts as being important, which they are to me. Providing I don't lose it again I want my new tripod to last many years. There a numerous videos out there touting a fairly recent cheap Chinese Pd copy and I'm sure it's a decent option at the price, but try asking the question, what warranty does it come with? Hmmm
Thanks ☺️ Yes, especially with tripods and backpacks that we usually plan to keep for many years, I think this is really something important to take into consideration
Can I know this tripod will match my RRS head BH40 lr2 ? Thank you!
Most tripod heads should work, worst case with an adaptor screw. But best to check if it’s the same screw
Thanks for sharing. Nice set up. I have the same tripod with the Gitzo bal head that came as a kit that I don't quite like and thinking of changing the head. Novoflex ClassicBall 2 seems like a good combo for Gitzo GT2545T if you can reverse fold its legs all the way in. Can I ask which Novoflex clamp you use for ClassicBall 2 ball head?
I use the classical (screw) Arca-Swiss plate (Q-Mount)
@@FabianFoppNaturephotography Thanks. It's so expensive for such a small ball head.
Great video Fabian, do you think this will handle Sony A7RV with a 100-400GM lens? I am torn between this tripod and PD Carbon Travel tripod.
That would be no problem for the tripod! Ballheads are not ideal for telephoto lenses in my opinion, but it handles it quite well. I have used it a bit with my R5 and RF100-500 (similar weight as your combination)
Helpful, thanks man!
Glad to hear
Great explanation of your setup. Can you also flip the ClassicBall upside down and still use it with the Gitzo GT2545T? Regards
I never tried that
Nice combination
Yes, I‘m quite happy with it 😊
