Andy summers,,the guitarist really did invent the whole 80’s sound,,the police got in with the punk movement of the late 70’s, but were actually crazy talented, seasoned musicians, sting, the singer and bassist, and Stewart copeland, the drummer had been around in bands all thru the 70’s, and were nearly 30 years old when the band made it-Andy summers,,the guitarist, was almost 10 years older than them both, and had been in a few legendary bands since the early 60’s; in the early 70’s Andy moved from England to Berkeley California and attended the university of Berkeley California and studied music theory, flamenco and classical guitar, his skills and knowledge and chord vocabulary were insanely vast-he’s pretty much my favorite guitarist of all time-he used a lot of alternate tunings, and used strange chords with them on top of that-he was a genius
The Police were a refreshing breeze when they came out. Much needed at the time. Yes, there is a video to this. They did light and heavy....all good... they definitely had fun as a band.
I love The Police! In my opinion they have way better songs(not that i dislike this one) but “Synchronicity 1”,“There’s A Hole In My Life”, “I Can’t Stand Losing You”, “So Lonely”, “The Bed’sToo Big Without You”,”Murder Bu Numbers”…. so many great tunes 👍👍 thanks for doing The Police though 🙏
One of THEE greatest 3 piece bands ever....all ridiculously exceptional musicians, and the drummer, stewart copeland, is prob the greatest drummer in rock of all time (with the passing of Neil peart, he now definitely is),,this song doesn’t really show him off tho-anyway, amazing band, great tune-check out “walking on the moon”, “synchronicity 1&2”, “can’t stand losing you”, “no time, this time”, “the bed’s too big without you”, “don’t stand so close to me”, “hole in my life”, “spirits in the material world”, “re-humanize yourself”, “so lonely”.......too many to name, I feel greedy, but the list goes on and on with them, scarcely a bad song from them
lol u & i have many favorites in common! sync 1,CSLY, TBTBWY, TAHIML, SL …i had forgotten about canary in a coal mine & man in a suitcase because I lost that album years ago
this one is so addictive i cant stop replaying: “There’s A Hole In My Life” have listened to it repeatedly since this reaction came out I’ve gone back listening to every album they put out. ua-cam.com/video/lhekcaRcpVo/v-deo.html
when i see a reaction video to music i’ve heard forever but it feels new it’s like hen you go in your closet to give stuff away and you pick up an item you haven’t worn in a while and think this is awesome I should wear this more
Half the fun of this song is listening to folks trying to figure out the title. The other half of the fun is me trying to hit the high notes in the shower. The Police always delivers.
Love the lyrics. Classic song. The Police have a unique style. Always appreciate Sting’s vocals. Great 👍 request. Love the crescendo in the song, great build up. Great melody.-Patricia 😎🙌🎧🔥🎶
I think they do have a video for this.It may be them just jumping around a lot.It is a long time since I saw it,if it is the one I am thinking about.Oh wait ,I think the video I am thinking about is Don't Stand So Close!
Great song Anonymous!!! Yep, lots of people who have a format to talk really just say a lot of it’s all do do da da blah blah blah. “Words that scream for your submission”; loved this song in High School because it was “fun”; the adult me sees it’s not funny and is relevant!!!
The official video for this song is them playing outside in the snow. This popsicle stick insect thing seems to be some fan fiction thing by JojoLion. That's about all I cared to read about. ;)
“Murder By Numbers” from the album Synchronicity an album you can listen to without skipping songs it’s so good. hers the link: ua-cam.com/video/tUq9fURN2VQ/v-deo.html
The song must have been used in some dumb video game or kids movie, so you get all these dumb comments of fans of that video game or movie that “brought them” to the song-it happens with all artists, even old ones, if their song is used in a movie or tv show or some shit
when you said they sound like Maroon 5 (i don’t dislike them) but ouch The Police are better by far, you just need to listen to different songs and you wot think they sound like anybody but themselves
Easy to listen to yes, but if you actually listen to the lyrics there is a more serious message you may have missed. This song is basically about not allowing people to control you anymore. “Poets, Priests, and Politicians.. have words to thank for their positions. Words that scream for your submission, but no one’s jamming their transmission.” ….. Stings reply to hearing what these people of authority are saying is to reply in nonsense talk because that is what he feels their words are, all nonsense. He’s refusing to listen to them while at the same time letting them know how he feels… “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da.. that’s all I want to say to you…” Sounds like baby talk lol 🙂
Stewart Copland.
The only drummer that could do an entire song using nothing but the hi hat and still sound good.
Paul Hester of Crowded House was a minimalist drummer as well.

I didn’t know Andy Summers went to UC Berkeley, my alma mater. Right on, roll on you Bears 🐻! Thanks 😊 for the info. 😎🔥🙌🎶

rehumanize yourself, so pertinent for today's climate.

Great song, takes me back to university days! Oh you didn't just compare The Police to Maroon5? I'm going pretend I didn't hear you say that 😂.

Hit After Hit In The 80s..Try "Message In A Bottle"..Or "Roxanne"..Or Both!..🇬🇧
I just checked. You haven't done this yet.
my guy be on it! 💯💯

Maroon 5 is simpleminded pop. They can't hold a candle to Sting, Copeland or Summers.
Hup,hup,hup!💙💙👍👍👍👍
Renaissance man in the house
❤️💛🧡
The doo doo doo the da da da would be the right pronounce of it.
❤
Trudy...Trudy...Trudy!

More album the police please
This song is weird for me. I absolutely *love* the verses but it kinda loses me at the chorus. The Bed's Too Big Without You is much better!
The best Drummer STEWARD COPELAND and ANDY SUMMERS the best guitarist
The Title of this song is simple elementary school. Really??????
