I have lived in California my entire life. What I never understood was why homes are built out of wood on the outside. Since we deal with fires. Why are homes not made of brick or even better shipping containers. The inside can be normal but the outside should be fire proof or at least the rooms should be. It just seems like capitalism and greed saying what's the cheapest way we can make money. Not how we can make these homes safe for humans. I have known lots of people who lost everything to fires. But I bet these homes will be built with wood and nothing will change.

Drought lately... if our woods burns we'll lose our house.... with any wind, the whole area could go. The USA doesn't manage forest and wild land properly at all....

Northern California native here. Each year California experiences wildfires and all I hear is that 90% of the fires are caused by human negligence (arson). Nobody knows how the fire started or how to contain it. Can Governor Newsom give an update on why this happens each year with so much damage yet we cannot find solutions. We also need the FBI investigating since this could be an act of terrorism. I am just saying a small fire gets out of control due to wind and dry conditions. But who started the small fire.

I've been listening to Western La working incident on the police scanner app on my phone and Cal Fire, LA County Fire and LA SD have almost all their copters working these fires right now. But the problem is this fire got a huge jump on them last night in terms of containment Air Attack cannot fly at night it is way too dangerous to do so. Too many Pilots and flight coordinators have ended up dying over the years when you try to do it in conditions that dangerous. They didn't have a choice they have to wait. I'm an aviation buff as well as a retired security officer and I've been told by many pilots and mechanics when I was working at Hartsfield international back in the nineties as a security and safety officer at a maintenance facility...... thermal updraft you can't see it at night and you can't even try to wear vision goggles when flying at night over a fire because it literally blooms out it washes the image to where it becomes totally useless because of the light intensity. And the wind generated by the Heat makes flying absolutely dangerous at night

It’s a semi arid environment, with an excess of fuel and very high Santa Anna winds. One of those factors is controllable the others aren’t. Add the fact that humans want a wood structure on the side of hill (fire travels faster uphill) so they can get the $$$ view. Doing that makes it difficult to do prescribed burns to control the excess fuel. So these liberal meatheads build a house in a high fire danger area, lose it, blame GlObaL WaRmInG instead of their own stupidity and stupid policies. And make homeowners insurance through the roof. God forbid anyone live in a modest bungalow on town if you ain’t raising cattle or corn you don’t need to live rural.

Northern California native here. Each year California experiences wildfires and all I hear is that 90% of the fires are caused by human negligence (arson). Nobody knows how the fire started or how to contain it. Can Governor Newsom give an update on why this happens each year with so much damage yet we cannot find solutions. We also need the FBI investigating since this could be an act of terrorism. I am just saying a small fire gets out of control due to wind and dry conditions. But who started the small fire.
That's what my fiancee told me, and she's lived in Chico since 1994. It's difficult to believe that the difference between this happening and Chico being untouched by the Park Fire was wind direction.

If you watch the news you will see the long lines of plane scoopers, scooping up water from the ocean and dropping it on the fire. When you watch only one segment of news like in this video that is not everything that is happening. Hope this helps.

My understanding is that California passed a law that required insurance companies to cover more fire-prone houses. This is why the insurance companies pulled out. An insurance company is a business and needs to stay in business in order to service other customers in other pats of the country.

I've been listening to Western La working incident on the police scanner app on my phone and Cal Fire, LA County Fire and LA SD have almost all their copters working these fires right now. But the problem is this fire got a huge jump on them last night in terms of containment Air Attack cannot fly at night it is way too dangerous to do so. Too many Pilots and flight coordinators have ended up dying over the years when you try to do it in conditions that dangerous. They didn't have a choice they have to wait. I'm an aviation buff as well as a retired security officer and I've been told by many pilots and mechanics when I was working at Hartsfield international back in the nineties as a security and safety officer at a maintenance facility...... thermal updraft you can't see it at night and you can't even try to wear vision goggles when flying at night over a fire because it literally blooms out it washes the image to where it becomes totally useless because of the light intensity. And the wind generated by the Heat makes flying absolutely dangerous at night

Perfectly blue skies here in Burbank. But what I would tell Mr. Trump is it’s a matter of hundred mile an hour winds creating hundreds of spot fires that would drain ANY water system. The winds have been hellish everywhere.
This happened to my town (Santa Rosa, CA) in 2017 and people are still healing from the devastation. My heart goes out to the people in Southern California.
