Regards the boot space for £90 you can buy a boot divider which provides a second boot floor which levels out the boot floor and the seats when folded down removing the lip. I have it in mine and it’s very useful for tidying away the usual junk most of us keep in the boot.
I have the 1.6 diesel returns about 53mpg, I must point out the diesel engine is very noisy, that's my opinion after owning it for 7 months, great car apart from that, will switch back to a petrol, hate the engine noise.
I think they went down hill when Peugeot took over, they don't even make a hot one any more - vxr. Shame because the vxr astra in your shape is an excellent car. Out of the new breed of mid sized hatches I'd have to say the focus is the best, try that alongside the new astra before you upgrade.
Edit: it is heated seats. The icon is a terrible representation of the function. Have this exact car and the buttons in the back are not for heated seats, I'm pretty sure it's just to vent hot air in back of the car. Also usb in the front is to connect phone for Android Auto etc and there are two usb ports in the rear.
Mine hits 60 in 6.6 and sees of quite alot of competition including focus ST. Bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing. rear seats are heated. Only down side is lack of parking sensors even in Elite trim.
briantvr My 2018 Sri 1.6t Astra also says 7.2 0-60.....it's got a gpf and slightly different gear ratios ie 2nd gear 59mph , so need to change to 3rd to go any faster hence slightly slower 0-60 time. Earlier ones slightly nippier.
Got one of these as a hire car, looked at it and thought blah, pulled off the car hire premises and put my foot down. Holy fucking shit! What a drive! Didn't want to give it back, cracking motor
Haha we got the astra j 1.6 and it is awful so so slow we got the limited edition model with the 19" wheels so that doesn't help. Very poor I'm just about the purchase a 2019 vx line 1.6 turbo
The car doesnt excite, did you really drive this car. This engine is a firebreather and will leave ANY normal golf or focus for dead. As for understeer i think you are smoking grass my friend. A strange review that does not reflect this car AT ALL
Oh dear, someone bought the wrong car. Focus is way better. The astra is unfortunately instantly forgettable, nothing very wrong with it, but nothing outstanding either. It will get you from a to b. The understeer is there though, maybe you just need to introduce it to a corner rather than keep trying to out drag golfs at the lights.
30 years of driving hot hatchbacks and yes there is like all fwd cars understeer but nothing to bad. Remember it isn't marketed as a gti hot hatch but it does 95% of the job for alot less money. I have changed the tyres from stock ones to a top rated performance tyre and the understeer is now pretty much gone. Energy saving tyres will always do this.
What a lot of rubbish I have the 1400 turbo I don't even get 24 miles per gallon they are bloody crooked just like everybody else the only way maybe I will get that if if someone else is pulling me
I've got the 1.4 turbo and am getting 43mph overall. Just got back from a trip to spain, heavy with camping gear and my dog, 4000 miles and cruising hour after hour at 95mph (got pinched for it in France and cost me 90 euro. Cheaper than here!) I had it rd mapped to 180 hp and it absolutely transformed it from being pretty nippy to quite gutsy when I want it to. I love the thing and is as cheap to buy and to run as any smallish car.
Had the 1.4 turbo as a second car always wondered what the real world difference is. Id imagine above 50-70 midrange this feels much better cos that wasnt too bad especially with the sport engaged. Sri trim. Frustrating compromise cos the elites dont get sport button but they get the dual zone climate leatherette seats etc.
@Jack Frost Yes Jack. Been drinking anti freeze again have you. Come on leave that shit alone maybe you could actually make a witty comment if you wasn’t wasted all the time trolling…
Clean, fresh look and excellent value!
I own this same spec car with the 200 ps engine it can shift when u put ur foot down.
Love mine
This car almost gave me a run for my money tonight - I drive a 2016 DSG Golf R

Would you be able to send a link ? please
Own this exact spec car, it replaced a 2015 Focus ST and I can honestly say the Astra is better in nearly every way imo.
Funnily enough this car replaced a Fiesta ST Line. Owner also says the same. It's a shame Vauxhall have dropped the VXR range though 😏
This cars superb super quick super quite and great rosd holding
MotorShed I agree. A VXR version of the Astra K could’ve been brilliant!

I’m only here because this car virtually stayed with me today - I have a 2009 2.5T Focus ST……..needed to know what was under the bonnet…….
So they go well then ?
You should show apace in back with front seat in driving position
Man I love Astra’s. I’ve currently got a 2013 astra 1.6 elite edition. I love it. Will hopefully move Onto this next.

Nice review, looks decent.
Great video :D !
The Astra 1.6 badly needed a turbo. The earlier 'J' is a great car but in 1.6 form it is utterly useless, especially in auto variety.
my other half had one and my fully loaded with tools astra 1.3 cdti van was faster and pulled better up hill

nice review!
Shit review
That watch you're wearing makes it look like you've got tiny hands.
I do have small hands 🤣
But yeah it's a big watch face. Diesel.

Can't hear the car!!!
Great view of swadlincote 😂

SWAD race track lol
Put your pants away man.
not a great review. Very Mundane
A bit like the car then. Gotta be pretty dull to be in the market for one of these. 🤣
