spot on with the lyric interpretation! 👏👏 just wanna say that a lot of scenes in the mv shows filipino culture. - The ingredients shown in the cooking scene at the start of the video is used to make a filipino dish called nilaga referring to a famous proverb that we have "kapag may tiyaga may nilaga" which means hardwork pays off or patience has its rewards - The shower scene, lyrics says something about "sour". Due to the very hot and humid weather in the Philippines, our body naturally produces a "sour" odor when sweaty and not taking a shower right after, it kinda pertains to the haters who's very "sour" on their achievements - Gento is a play on word and a shortened word from "ganito" which means like this and sounds very similar to "ginto" which means gold. So the song kinda translates to "gold like this" . additional information is that when pablo (the leader) made this song he first thought of the melody in the first part of the chorus and the word that kept repeating on his mind was "gento gento gento" from here he thought that since it's very close to the word ginto he started adding metals and mining sounds into the song and it was build up from there, the thought of looking and finding for gold - Darna which you already understood correctly and Moniko is from a famous tongue twister which is a name of a mechanic. so Josh was saying he doesn't need a mechanic. - The dog scene which shows a reverse role where the dog was the one holding the leash. It's an inside filipino joke called "dog show" which basically means making fun of someone or insulting someone and sb19 talks about how they were just making fun of the haters. - 10:05, all the members' eyebrows are burned. This is from a well known expression in the Philippines that says "burning eyebrows" which means studying hard. This started because back in the day when there were no proper light sources filipinos used candles and lamps to study and the fire always ends up being placed close to the face due to the student who's very focused on studying to the point that they don't notice that their eyebrows are being burned. so the lyrics talks about how they won't stop until the haters learned their lessons -Lastly, the alien scene had different interpretations. it can pertain to new people or casuals who's just starting to find out about sb19 or it could also be a reference or a mock to an opening scene from one of their previous mv's where they spoke in korean due to the fact that they were under a korean company making a lot of people see it negatively stating they're "imitating kpop" .

Its very hard to catch Filipino bars if they are translated to English.

spot on with the lyric interpretation! 👏👏 just wanna say that a lot of scenes in the mv shows filipino culture.
- The ingredients shown in the cooking scene at the start of the video is used to make a filipino dish called nilaga referring to a famous proverb that we have "kapag may tiyaga may nilaga" which means hardwork pays off or patience has its rewards
- The shower scene, lyrics says something about "sour". Due to the very hot and humid weather in the Philippines, our body naturally produces a "sour" odor when sweaty and not taking a shower right after, it kinda pertains to the haters who's very "sour" on their achievements
- Gento is a play on word and a shortened word from "ganito" which means like this and sounds very similar to "ginto" which means gold. So the song kinda translates to "gold like this" . additional information is that when pablo (the leader) made this song he first thought of the melody in the first part of the chorus and the word that kept repeating on his mind was "gento gento gento" from here he thought that since it's very close to the word ginto he started adding metals and mining sounds into the song and it was build up from there, the thought of looking and finding for gold
- Darna which you already understood correctly and Moniko is from a famous tongue twister which is a name of a mechanic. so Josh was saying he doesn't need a mechanic.
- The dog scene which shows a reverse role where the dog was the one holding the leash. It's an inside filipino joke called "dog show" which basically means making fun of someone or insulting someone and sb19 talks about how they were just making fun of the haters.
- 10:05, all the members' eyebrows are burned. This is from a well known expression in the Philippines that says "burning eyebrows" which means studying hard. This started because back in the day when there were no proper light sources filipinos used candles and lamps to study and the fire always ends up being placed close to the face due to the student who's very focused on studying to the point that they don't notice that their eyebrows are being burned. so the lyrics talks about how they won't stop until the haters learned their lessons
-Lastly, the alien scene had different interpretations. it can pertain to new people or casuals who's just starting to find out about sb19 or it could also be a reference or a mock to an opening scene from one of their previous mv's where they spoke in korean due to the fact that they were under a korean company making a lot of people see it negatively stating they're "imitating kpop" .

*oh my god thank you for this sir. this RV is gold. i wish music audiences who easily dismiss GENTO as trash or just another viral song or a catchy song but has unintelligible lyrics, could watch this. i enjoy your approach to making RV, you get in the head of the creators-in this case lyricist/composer/co-producer Pablo (SB19 leader/main rapper) and MV creative director Justin de Dios (SB19 lead singer). you try to understand what they were doing. what message or story they are trying to tell. evaluate what/how they did, and NOT what/how you as an audience wanted.
