The Unreal Ulvestad

We dive into one of the most fascinating variations of the Two Knight's Defense, 1. e4 e5 2. nf3 nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 d5 5. exd5 5. Nd4!?/5...b5!?. After I show one of my favorite forcing variations in all of chess (you definitely want to see this one), I then conclude that 5...Na5 is the slightly better move at the highest level. The student however should have some grasp of both variations to experience the full flavor of the Two Knight's Defense.

Did you see Ntirlis's tweet on the Ulvestad? Black's best move 6...Nxd5!? apparently gives Black a totally acceptable position that is superior to the old mainline with ...Nd4

Marc, Ng5 is not the Fried Liver. Nxf7 after black plays Nxd5 is the FL.
