    As noted, there are multiple causes of aging. The first is due to thermodynamics and the increase in entropy that occurs in a system that uses energy to process information. There are just a few states for a living cell while there are almost an infinite number of states of death and decay. The second is due to the accumulation of damage that occurs when there is no proper repair. The body is excellent at healing when provided the resources to do so, but most people do not provide the proper resources. The most important resource is pulsed nutrition with periods of feasting and fasting in synchrony with one's neuro-endocrine cycles. This allows the body to clean house via the cellular mechanism of autophagy while activation of the sirtuins in the presence of high levels of NAD+ facilitate DNA repair, including restoring the telomeres. The re-feeding/feasting phase activates the stem cells to rejuvenate damaged cells, like the immune system, brain, and muscles thereby preventing the onset of frailty, autoimmune disorders, inflammation, and dementia. Also, maintaining proper methylation of one's DNA prevents endogenous virii from activating and causing harm. Receiving blood transfusions or vaccinations that are contaminated with retrovirii can also activate those endogenous virii. While treatment with retro-viral agents such as those used for the treatment of HIV (AZT) might help to fight off any activated retrovirii, there is no evidence that it can perform the other tasks needed to prevent frailty and the steady progression to death. Sorry, but that is not the fountain of youth.

    If he is right (and I doubt it is so simple) then using genome editing tools to remove endogenous viruses in our junk dna would greatly expand the lifespan of many creatures.

    • @DieterBuys
      @DieterBuys 7 років тому +7

      Yeah but this accounts for such a huge proportion of our DNA and so much of it is profoundly entangled with actual working systems of the body. It's not like you can just delete 8% or more of a complex mammal's DNA and expect good results, although perhaps in the end game we will be able to break these viruses permanently through rearranging their DNA to something harmless in humans.

      how about accumulation of mutations in DNA repairing genes (due to radiation etc.)? some estimates put this mutation rate at 1 / 25 years, ( or 4 per 100 years, which is estimated to be lethal)

    • @faismasterx
      @faismasterx 7 років тому +2

      Dieter is right. Invading the genome and abruptly lacerating huge parts of the code may very likely (with a high degree of probability) have unforeseen consequences in normal functions in a way that might have the opposite intended effect. The converse is also likely to be the case wrt gene editing in fully grown organisms.
      Gene sequences aren't lego blocks. Though, sometimes I wish they worked that way.

      Galt Barber there’re actually a lot of research papers supporting his claim. Obvious you can’t get eternal life from just doing this, but expand it 20 percent is actually possible. There’re other issue such as lack of NAD+ and stem cell we also need to deal with but we are definitely on the right track.

    There is actually no problem with aging. It comes naturally and it is beyond our control. However, we are the ones responsible on how to slow the aging process. Can you notice that many people in their 50s actually look like 30s. 70s look like 50s! Well… Growing old is no piece of cake, that is for certain. NMN and resveratrol are seen to affect health positively and do reverse aging. Since no healthcare company wants people to live a healthy life (how will they run their business if that happens.) I started taking the NMN by Vitruvin with 500mg and seeing very good results. Especially, NMN is boosting my energy levels very effectively. I also think the results might vary from person to person.

    82,000 dna extractions or executions means 3420 or so dna extractions per hour, which means about 57 extractions per minute.... or approximately one protein sequence interpreted each second... by extractions, I mean, dna is encoded and is submitted to the ribosome which creates proteins based on the instructions in the dna. maybe people could think about this more.

    There in an alternative theory, which suggests that it is the length of telomers that determines how healthy the dna and cells are. It clearly correlates to health of human body. Interestingly enough, part of that theory is that the telomers can loop back to the middle sections of dna and repair the sites that turn genes on and off. As telomers get too short to keep turned off genes in check, the "virus" genes turn on and mutate cells perhaps?

    • @suncat9

      If humans managed to achieve biological immortality then we'd probably survive 9000 years before dying of causes such as car crashes. I watched a youtube video that said that and since that's not exactly a 'reliable' source I'd urge you to take with a many grains of salt. Still, a fascinating concept to dreamboat that one day may become reality in some form.

    3,000,000,000 or so dna 'bits'... divided by 100 years == 30,000,000 genetic sequences are decoded each year.... oh, it's 82,000 dna extractions per day...

    Death is the ultimate fact in life. God all mighty has programmed us to die. Justice requires that. There should be a day of judgment so that those who were oppressed in this life will get revenge from their oppressors.

    • @donovan3956

      @Ahmad Toqeer Healing aging and overcoming death are two totally different things.
      Eternal youth absolutely does not protect against external causes of death (cold / predator / disease ...)
      Some species do not age and are still forever young, but they are still fatal because they can be killed by an outside element.
      Aging is not useful for evolution because not only does it not contribute to the survival and reproduction of the individual, but it decreases the survival and reproduction of the individual who is affected.
      And since evolution only works at the individual level, aging cannot be intentionally programmed (as said in the video, these retroviruses have pathologically appeared in our genomes and nature has failed to eliminate them.)
