It was originally scheduled for Sunday nights, before "THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW". However, CBS placed "DENNIS THE MENACE" in that 7:30 time period (more compatible with "LASSIE") instead. Dennis was finally given the *WORST* time slot the network had [and continued to have, through the mid-1960's]: Tuesdays at 8pm(et). More people watched the second half of "SUGARFOOT" and "BRONCO" {they alternated} on ABC, and the second half of "LARAMIE" on NBC. O'Keefe never had a chance to build a solid audience for a second season renewal.

I agree, I wish I could find more than five or six episodes. The only complaint I have with this episode is that Eloise Hardt wasn't in it.

Actress Hope Emerson would be dead, at about 62, within a year of this episode being broadcast. She was better known for her villainess roles in late '40s pictures such as "Caged" and "Cry Of The City". O'Keefe himself didn't make it beyond 60, thanks to his heavy smoking.

And she left "PETER GUNN" after its first season for this series.

This show was a rip off of Love that Bob starring Robert Cummings

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. "Hal Towne" is not a "wolf", as "Bob Collins" is. And he has a son, which Bob didn't have.

By this time, Mr. O'Keefe's motion picture career had bottomed out, and he was relegated to wearing a bad hairpiece on a late-1950s sitcom. His final, humiliating screen appearance would be a guesting role on "Petticoat Junction" [which predated "Fantasy Island" and "The Love Boat" as a haven for washed up actors]. The "delivery man" in the opening scene was played by Ned Glass, who had been blacklisted a few years earlier for his [alleged] Communist sympathies. Mr. Glass would receive help from his friend, Moe Howard, who would see to it that he earned some parts in Three Stooges shorts, reviving his career, and leading to character roles in episodic television and motion pictures for the rest of his life. [During the time he was barred from performing, Mr. Glass worked as a carpenter, a skill he honed by building his own house.] This series was typical of the mid- to late-1950s, in which past screen stars sought to hit the big time again. For some, it succeeded [Bob Cummings, Jackie Cooper, Ann Sothern, Fred MacMurray ... and, most notably, Lucille Ball], while for others, it failed [Mickey Rooney, Janis Paige, Ray Bolger, Tom Ewell, Stu Erwin].
