(1960) Hal decides to give a struggling young actress a plug in his newspaper column. He decides her real name, Gretchen Clayhipple, is too hard to remember and without consulting her changes it to June Thursday
Hal Towne is a Los Angeles widower with a bright ten-year-old son to raise (aided by a stern housekeeper). He writes a syndicated column, "All Around Towne," which brings him into contact with numerous competitors for the favors of his publicity-agent girlfriend.
