Hi Mark, great video and very informative! I’m wondering if you could help me. I have a Selespeed system also. When I start the car and select 1st gear. The car just revs, then only about 3500rpm, the car will slam into gear and immediately stall. Would really appreciate any input! Really stuck here. Thanks
Could be a few things, hard to say just going on a stalling issue and clunky engagement, could be as simple as a calibration procedure and clutch rod adjustment. Could need a new pump or actuator.
Hallo, i have Selespeed aswell (147 2007) , i changed the clutch kit and did the calibration, it stack in gear 1 and turn off after 1 drive Km And its showing Gearbox failure on dashboard Could it be the selespeed or the clutch?
hi can you help me fix my fiat 198 bravo 2 1.4 16v t-jet i am having problems with the gearbox i changed the entire selespeed system and most of the trouble codes have cleared i am left with 2 codes a P0914 Engagement sensor ,S.C. to ground , present and the other code is P0904 Selection sensor ,S.C. to Ground , Present the reason why i am asking for your help is that the dealership here in Trinidad has discontinued the fiat bravo and left their customers alone to deal with the problems the mechanics are worthless the are just pretending to know about the selespeed systems and are constantly robbing me please can you help me i just need a wiring diagram of the gearbox i have the CFC300F.01 type gearbox
arnold kanyimbiri I can think of a few things mostly related to bad connections, however I won't be able to tell efore testing the car and scanning the ecu.
Had my selespeed for 10 years only had a problem once and it was my fault. I've done nothing special just maintain oil levels be careful with reverse gear, don't apply gas before you hear reverse bleep. I found your review informative but unfairly negative to this system, all be it a subjective opinion.
Zion2030 Hi thank you for your comment I thought it may be more informative if I answer it only for the users who watch the video. the system is designed in a way that you need to press brake pedal to activate the brake switch to let the system know it is ready to go to reverse at full stop( without brake selespeed won't apply reverse). if the driver is less experienced or not used to automatic transmission or simply stock on a ramp may use both feet to press brake with left and gas with right (situation that you explain should not happen) the system can be confused, in some occasions the numerous switches just dont collaborate properly and same thing happens. a well designed system can forgive operators mistakes. left alone there might be good examples of good selespeeds as well but majority of these type of design have a lot of problems during their lifetime, In 10 years I worked on more than 100 of them and never seen any above 200,000 k's on dash that is still going. by the way if you have to keep an eye on the oil level your selespeed has internal leak into gearbox that cannot be seen from outside it will be only a matter of time before you need some repairs soon.
Mark Jafar I understand.. very valuable information as i said. Because of this i'm going to begin buying spares to anticipate failures. I'd like to know if those oil seals are easy to replace or do i have to buy a unit.? Much appreciated.
