Also when sorting through that much bulk, I always have to turn the cards upside down and just scan the set symbols. It's a big help on how far you have to move your fingers lol
Love these openings. I bought some small grab bags the other day cheap and they had a bunch of unplayed cards in real nice condition. Not much value but was awesome to get.
My brother in FL. Sent a 1k longbox to my daughter with misc. Sports and collectables, he paid 10$. I sorted thru with her, the magic was mine there were 3, a chronicles common, revised majae djinn, and an alpha demonic tutor. I kept it for a while then sold it for 900$.
At a thrift store a buddy of mine bought a large collection for 100 bucks qe sorted it out and ended up with easily a couple thousand dollars worth of cards the big hitters were 2 survival of the fittest, vampiric tutor, hatred, mana vault and a bunch of $10-$20 cards
never have any luck with goodwill they allways seem to be picked threw. but the packs that used to be at dollar tree $1 for 15cards repacked i got a force of will from alliances
You did pass at least one Deadly Dispute from AFR...no idea why but a week ago they spiked to over 4 dollars in value and are currently back down some to just under 3....
@@MattcasterMage Yeah I don't think it is worth going out of your way to pull out (it is a common afterall) I just find it funny that sometimes the market can be so volatile that some cards spike in value for seemingly no reason at all. I am sure it will come back down to a more reasonable amount after a week or two and will be worth under a buck again. Edit: All in all you got hosed bad man....I think someone either A. Had no idea what the cards were worth and just assumed some of them would be of value at good will and put a higher price tag on the lot or B. someone at good will knows the value of and or plays the game and preemptively removed 99% of the good stuff beforehand and then sold the rest "as is" anyways.
I enjoyed buying random bulk lots from 2015 to about 2018. MtG had been slowing down in my area. I would check my LGS, Ebay, SCG, CF, AMZ, FB and occasionally I checked out garage sales. I never thought to check goodwill though. Didnt like getting foreign language cards.
This is why I avoid the bulk goodwill ones where I cannot see any rares worth more than a quarter. Its a constant challenge, especially with so many of us doing these videos the prices get too high.
This makes me happy I just ordered 140 bucks of a singles I wanted and nearly 60 foil old border commons and uncommons to fill out binders, man they are pretty! I just don't trust anything that isn't garage sale anymore. Even local marketplace etc is people saying they don't know what they are but you look and it's been absolutely stripped by guys who collect pokemon and hockey cards that use TCG player to pull value out.. 😢
I think 5 years ago you could find great stuff but now they list stuff that gets either bid really high or maybe they just pop a decent card or two in the photos to draw people in. I wish I had tried it more years ago
Bought a buddy's collection for $50 cause he needed the money. He had about five 10,000 counts. He said he didn't have the time or energy to go through it. Took it home and went through it for a week, made about $200 on it. So overall good buy.
Which Goodwill did you get it from? Important data point on this. Some of the GW's will comb through the cards that come and others won't. (apologies if this was mentioned and I just missed it).
Feels good to get hosed. I get you made this video before WotC spiked magic into the ground. Last Chance, you said was worth nearly 70usd when on TCG today (12 Dec 2023) its 10usd for NM. Lotus Petal held up better. Being about 20usd on TCG. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Money to be made on those older lands. I just flipped a few handfuls like that on Cardsphere and made a good chunk of change. Also, I have to believe they staged that lot with the Serra Angel, Lotus Petal and The Dark card. Those didn't fit that lot at ALL.
Can’t win em all, but that Portal card is a nice surprise. I wanted to build Obeka until I realized all the red extra turn cards were like $60-$800 lol Maybe you should put all the cards back in the Ziplocs and put them on eBay for $300. 😅
This feels like someone dumped off a box of draft box chaff and then the goodwill people just dumped a bunch of other stuff in the bags from other donations
Goodwill online auctions prove that the cherry pick all donations and throw what they do not deem "profitable" to the masses as store fodder. They come off as helping the community and im sure they do to some extent. In the end the are a corporation. I've gotten better deals through yard sales and marketplace. That also helps the community with out lining the pockets of Goodwill Industries
These Goodwill buys you do are painful to watch. I thought Tragic had it bad but your Goodwill has I'll will toward the buyers it swindles into purchasing these overpriced POS lots.
Matt, this was hard to watch as you took it without lube, then kept pushing back for more, hoping there would be some lube forthcoming. Poor guy. Still, love the random buys.
Bought a box from a coworker of my wife for 50 bucks. every single card felt like it was gritty. pretty much had nothing of value in it till i got down to the last couple cards and got a flooded strand and a few other cards, pretty much broke even but the cards where disgusting
$290???……..Hopefully its real pics they take and its not just a random photo of mtg bulk they use over and over. I just always know that most bulk lots will be of recent standard crap no one wants with the occasional budget techs or pauper commons.
Matt, I stopped buying Goodwill when I bought 600$ worth of bulk in 5 lots in a row from Goodwill. If it's a ham sandwich shaped like a magic cards those Goodwill shill bidders will send that past 300$ per auction. I think there's far too much manipulation and deception going on at Goodwill
If you edit my thrift store buys then check out my other channel! ua-cam.com/channels/wHfxeAfGIt4WAYfGQABRXQ.html
Matt shouldn't that say If you "enjoy" my thrift store buys? Just saying not sure we can edit your thift store buys.
Also when sorting through that much bulk, I always have to turn the cards upside down and just scan the set symbols. It's a big help on how far you have to move your fingers lol
Fun fact - deadly dispute is $3.50 Market price on tcg player. Really hefty for a common. Also these types of videos are why I started following you!
Agreed, bulk lots are fun!
It being a common makes it heavily played in pauper.
I swear I was watching a To Catch a Smuggler video, when Matt opened the box, and started cutting the shrink wrap with that knife.
🤭

Love the vids, sorry for your loss.
@6:28 I've heard Ray Walkinshaw pronounce it "tedeen" during an interview with Mark Tedin at Grand Prix Chiba.
So this is how to dump bulk card's for 50 times the profit!
Matt you should've made a video of searching through Goodwill auctions for this and posted it to your shopping channel!

Used to buy pokemon and yugioh goodwill auctions. $212 pokemon auction with multiple charizards and other wotc era foils. Best deal so far
never have any luck with goodwill they allways seem to be picked threw. but the packs that used to be at dollar tree $1 for 15cards repacked i got a force of will from alliances

I’m going to dispute that

Big Box 📦 Dave’s killer knife 🔪!
i was at one of the local value village got two ashnod alter and a entomb
Just saying you skipped at least 2 Deadly Dispute from AFR that are 2.9$ in TCG Player
Going to grab them now. Thank you!
This is why I avoid the bulk goodwill ones where I cannot see any rares worth more than a quarter. Its a constant challenge, especially with so many of us doing these videos the prices get too high.
Been doing some buys from goodwill. My best pull is a near mint foil grim monolith
On the good side, you can now put up a 10 pound lot on Goodwill, -20 or so cards!
Out of my first random buy I got a og wooded foothills two senseis tops sword of fire and two inceptions one was foil
Great vid. Crazy how well you know the cards.
This video should have been rated 18+, because this was just brutal.
Full penetration
Lot of bulk, but damn...what a fun opening
Man that was brutal , can they not put a few rares in there ??? Lol
@@dustinburns4550 Right?

Noticed a number of deadly disputes in the first bag. Almost a 3 dollar common from adventures in the forgotten realms
You got honey potted for sure 😥 At least you were able to recuperate some value and the basic lands are def cool 👍
Not the best total in the end but some sweeeeeeet hit and lands!!!! Random buy are alwais the best!!!!

Gotcha Jake!
👊🏆
Oh you lol I don't usually participate on the weekends. That and I have been walking up at noon cuz my scheduled effed from the China bug
@@Troglodytemtg Let me have my moment 🤣
Ouch buddy I'm sorry for the loss. At least your keeping a Pawzitive outlook on the thrift store buy bro
Best card I ever pulled from a random buy was an alpha Icy Manipulator. Haven't seen much good stuff since 😕
That's crazy!
lol Mark TeDEEN!!

London Ontario
F in the chat. Love to watch these but hate to see when you don't get to at least break even.
This opening hurt my soul. So much bulk. Still a good video.
Thx for the spoiler... No point watching it now

That was a very tough start to the lot of the magic cards you picked up.
Deadly dispute is under your thumb while your talking about prosperous innkeeper. It’s 3 bucks
Living lore is rare
Good video bro but damn that was rough
Hey Matt sent you a DM on Instagram, but interested in some of the older basics if you're willing to get rid any of them!
Pmd
Nice, bruh!
9.95 subs !!! 10k video soon !!!!!!!
"I don't think we have a single card over a dollar yet...." he says as he waves a pair of cards worth ~$2 each infront of the camera LOL (>.

You know it's bad when the Basic lands are the hits...
Last Chance is over 50 dollars easy
saw a few deadly disputes, That card is about two bucks from th forgotten realms, and its a common.
Can’t win em all, but that Portal card is a nice surprise. I wanted to build Obeka until I realized all the red extra turn cards were like $60-$800 lol

2x speed is almost fast enough lol
cool vid
Thanks Peter
60 more!!!!
oh man, nice vid, but there wasnt a lot in there. 😬
you got bulked :)
This feels like someone dumped off a box of draft box chaff and then the goodwill people just dumped a bunch of other stuff in the bags from other donations
you need to have a friend take the whole bag into your local LGS and just see what they give you for the whole bag lol

Uh oh......I'm seeing no rares...........well there was a few hitters, if not for that last chance , appropriately named lol
Lol know it’s bad when the pulls are basics.

Makes me wonder who puts these together and where they get there prices? Is it so much per pound? Ugh I'm starting to feel dirty watching this.......
WotC, The Gatherer is broken
kind of a rip off but at least you had fun
