    One benefit of that sleek front and the long length is that it allows for a good amount of space with a low drag coefficient, so if someone wants to get decent mileage at highway speeds this is a good option.

    We've had the Outback 340BH for about a year now, same length and weight specs as the 341RD. Absolutely love it. A couple we travel with has the 341RD, it really reminds me of our old Cougar 32SAB. Our traveling companions love their 341RD as well!

    You should check out either a Forest River Ozark or Wildwood. Tremendous value toy haulers that include Schwintek slides, Furrion appliances, power jacks and awnings, backup camera wiring, and more! I grabbed an Ozark 2700TH in the low 20s. Going to live in it full time!

    We pull a 2017 jayco eagle ht 324bhts. Comes in at 38.5 ft roughly. It tows great behind our cclb 4x4 f250 6.2 with 4.30 gears. We use an equalizer 4pt 14k hitch with 2.5in shank. Setup is key on a trailer like this. We have towed it down to tennessee from NW ohio with our previous truck a Ram 6.4 hemi. It pulled well tracked straight. We plan on pulling to williamsburg VA this summer. So i guess what I am saying here is a long TT can be done no need to be afraid of them. Our trailer has a gvwr of 10995. I run Carlisle's radial trail hd tires. 15in e rated. Thought about going to 16s but the 15s have worked flawlessly so far for us. F rated tires would require a 16in wheel and frankly not needed. A 16 in e rated would have plenty of weight rating. We have had our trailer going on 4 years now. Safe travels!

    The BAL accu-slide (cable driven) is the lightest weight slide-out. The LCI through-frame slide (rack & pinion) is quite heavier then the accu-slide. Keystone uses the accu-slide to help keep RV weight down, and payload capacity up.

    There is no pre installed hook-ups for a washer/dryer or a combo unit in the cabinet that had shelving in it, as you suggested one could put one in! It is not an ‘optional’ item either. So a shopper should not assume because you say so. That Is a ‘maybe’ if a buyer can or find someone to install all the plumbing for one, and that means not just the hot and cold piping, but also running it to the grey tank for draining. And electrical wiring too. And like all trailers I’m sure it would be challenging project cheers 🍻

    Nice, but space "usage" could have been better. The table could be L shaped, running along where bench is around to back of recliners, and two chairs would be enough. Also could easily turn and use the other part of the counter for a desk/work area. Combo W&D's? Not a fan. Want stackable or side by side. Stove, kind of in LR area more than in Kitchen area. Sorta weird but could deal, just make changes myself. For me tho, the room for W&D is non-negotiable . Think I'll keep looking. Ty

    Finally a company that gets it Right day/night roller shades extra large range top and “ vented hood!!!!! above it“ Why the ridiculously expensive fifth wheels don’t have a vents above the gas range I’ll never understand personally I don’t think they care or they’re not smart enough? the other thing I noticed about this model as it has as much storage space as you could build into it everywhere they could they did. Which proves some of these companies are just about profits I am 85% likely to buy this exact model for summer camping just because all the small stuff is done right.

  • @respectbossmon
    @respectbossmon 5 років тому +1

    It's good that Keystone is trying new ideas with the floorplan for their long travel trailer. A free-standing table in the dinette space would be better. There's something above the range that looks like an exhaust hood. But, there's no exhaust vent outside. Watching this review, I get the impression this is an interim (read: unfinished) design....like they weren't close to completion and came up against a 'production needs to start NOW!' deadline and went with what they had.

    Once again nicely done sir!! I have a 2016 ram 1500 ecodiesel. Limited on towing capacity. Would love a small 5th wheel but limited to a 1000 pound pin weight. A travel trailer with a weight distribution hitch may be my best option. Not many options for me 5th wheel wise. Thank you again!!

    • @SPCLPONY
      @SPCLPONY 5 років тому

      If towing this camper with a half ton of any make, I think it would be safer to tow with the longest wheel base possible to cut down on swaying on the open highway. Of course, you give up the ability to easily turn corners in town or get into that smaller gas station. I pull a 28' ultra lite fifth wheel with a super cab F-150 4x4. We don't 'long haul' across the country, but like moving around a little closer to home. Some highway, some two lanes into towns, and eventually get to a remote camp area. Just this past summer we saw a camper trailer tipped on her side in the highway median.

    "If you can't get along with her in 26 feet, you can't get along with her in 40!" A friend of mine, new to the RV world, ask my Father-in-law, RV'd since the 60's, if u can call an VW bus an RV, about up sizing to a bigger coach! LMAO!" Their RV of choice was a 26-28 class C, they put over 140k miles on two, then had the last one rebuilt stem to stern and did it again! Their last trip was from San Antonio Tx to Alaska , and back, third one, he was 83!
    This would be a great RV for folks that mite be slightly physically challenged, bad knees, hips or backs. Those big Five'rs r nice, but the step ups and downs can be a problem, I live in a 35' Carri-Lite Emerald F/W and at 71 the steps up and down to bath and bed r sometimes a problem! Most only move a couple of times a year and often have it moved by a transporter.
    I enjoy ur honest "walk rounds ", I sold RV's for 7-8 years and always was truthful, I used my 20 plus years RV experience , not sales pitches. I never degraded other products, just explained to them why my product was better. The ego'rs polished their plagues on the wall while I went to the bank........

    If I was into these land trains the interior is nice. I love the colors. The floor is beautiful. I think it would need a third AC unit and the tv should have came with the master. But I guess if someone is truly getting 20k off this mammoth I would gripe lol. But the trailer I’ll eventually get will be off road able. Already have a trailer in mind. But I sure do love watching these reviews. Great job and you listed even con I would have listed. Those baby tires would need to go!

  • @VegasGuy1975
    @VegasGuy1975 5 років тому +1

    To me, this is a very nice layout for a couple who will be traveling from RV Park to RV Park. I don’t see this being useful for visiting camp grounds and national or state parks.
    I would also suggest that it be towed by a 3/4 ton at a minimum, and preferably a dually. I also imagine you’d absolutely need a Hensley hitch to deal with the potential for sway with something this long. Just about any wind at all would be a nightmare with anything lighter than a 3/4 ton dually.

    This trailer is sold in my area at an advertised price of $33,995 and I am sure the dealership that sells them will do better on the price. I wonder if this size trailer is more for parking some place for the camping season to be used rather than towing it all over the country? By the time someone with a long wheel base crew cab pickup “hopefully will use” it’s going to be a pain to get in and out of places.
    My son has a 40 foot long Freightliner Totter home that he tows his 44 foot 4 car stacker with and the only place he can get fuel are truck stops unless he unhitches it. He has 160 gallon fuel capacity at 7-9 mpg so he can go from race track to race track without the need to refuel that often. His trailer is a bumper pull but with his totter home having such a long wheelbase and it’s rear axle being so close to its rear endit handles his trailer very well. I sure did get side tracked but my point was a longer wheel base tow vehicle the better. Thanks

    I looked at an Outback before we bought ours. Bit too heavy for my truck, cable slides, no independent suspension and the warranty on the 6 point auto leveling was only a year. Did have a gear in electric stabilizer last season and when I called the Company to order it they actually sent a new one free. I was 2 months past. Lippert Components type

  • @Artsy.Journeys

    I really like this layout! I also like the colors inside and out. I would do one love seat though, and two sets of rocking theater chairs. The other love seat would be a desk or display center. I would also change the fridge, maybe do an electric fridge instead of a gas fridge. I would probably do a second booth seat, but a shorter one. The combo unit as far as washer and dryer goes is not so bad. So long as clothes get cleaned, right? I would do pocket doors, too. Those regular doors use too much space.
    I wonder if this brand has another version of this model that is perhaps a bit wider, maybe a mid-bunk feature or a toy hauler feature? I haven't seen your video yet featuring a warning about toy haulers, so I need to check that out. I'm curious about a half bath option or a fifth wheel option too. It would dramatically change some layouts but . . . I don't know, I'm curios what it would look like. Is there a video you have already that is a good mix of those things?

I had to lemon law a Heartland North Trail where the slide out broke 3 times and the last time ripped out of the wall completely. How you doing brother long-time follower. I watched your inverter install and thought I would share with you and your followers a recent install I did.
    I am the shop manager at audio video Creations had a customer come in requesting his inverter a 6000 watt to be installed in a Chevy 3500 Express.
    What we do is called a big 3 upgrade what consists of upgrading the alternator charging wire from a 8 gauge to a 4 gauge and also all the ground wires to 4 gauge this helps out with less resistance which means less Heat then I run both power and ground 4 ga to the reserve battery which is a dry cell battery then 0 gauge to the inverter all positive wire runs have 300 amp fuse breakers on them there is a lot more to this install but just a brief description I will send you the video and some pictures if you like just thought I would share with you brother love the channel always watching. Oh PS can't wait for the Tampa super RV show.

      Steven Echelberger We are only 7,000 pounds. Our trailer is a bit taller than the average ones, and has the frame skirted in. These things lead to a larger surface to catch the wind. We have a short bed 2015 F150 and it was not fun in cross winds. I’ve discussed with a couple of dealerships and they say the switch to aluminum in 2015 was followed by new owner complaints about sway.

      The Tucson anti sway electric break controler works far better than any anti sway hitch...if you talk to someone who's towed all the different trailers and the sizes and lengths he will tell you that big trailers and big fifthwheel are for situations that need to be assessed by the extremely experienced...there is a list of at least 50 factors that needs to be thoroughly evaluated.....a dealer asks what one do you like? OK hitch it up have fun....well not really but if you ask the engineer of your tow vehicle he will tell you the truth you don't want to hear...

    Like your videos. Not the first time I heard you say it doesn’t have a equalizer. Yes it DOES. so did the last one you said didn’t. It does have equalizer’s just not upgraded ones. Also the upgraded equalizers do not look like they will last near the time the regular ones will. Not hating on you at all keep on doing what you do.

    This isn’t camping! It’s a home for gods sake! Our first mobile home my wife and I had when we were young and broke was a 12’ X 40’! I guess if you can find a place that can handle the length you could “camp” but really with this just buy a piece of property and park it. Most storage places are going to charge a premium.

    I have noticed that over the past 10 years that travel trailers and fifth wheels are getting larger and heavier. I wonder at what point or how many accidents later will regulators force these companies to start putting duel wheels on travel trailers and fifth wheels like semi truck trailers have.

    Hello again Big Truck! Ok lots of room for the money, but some low quality issues, like the cable actuated slides, that we all know to be problematic with only possible a few good years if not less if service. I wonder, have you ever seen manual slides?

      Yeah I tow a trailer very similar to this with a properly equipped gas F250. A dually is surely not needed. I commented above on our setup. Cheers!

    • @LukeEdward
      @LukeEdward 5 років тому

      Ger 13 NunYah I have to parrot Nathan L’s response. A dually is necessary for “hauling” capacity, not “towing” capacity. Decent, stiff sidewall SRW tires, stiffer sidewalls on the trailer, and a quality HD sway control system will keep that length in check as long as your tow vehicle isn’t short, allowing that 39ft to wag the dog.

    Ok so I have searched all over but cant find the answer to my question. Why must a destination trailer be parked for long periods of time? I realize they arent "aerodynamic", but can't find a reason why you cant travel with them like a regular travel trailer. Thank you!

    • @jamesbeaman6337
      @jamesbeaman6337 5 років тому

      MsBacarra they will be taller than a normal trailer also which may restrict access to lower clearance locations. But they’re no taller than a typical 5th wheel so it may not be as big of an issue as the length and aero.

    Even though my truck could tow it. Just flat out too long. More than half the places I go, it would not fit. And towing in any real weather, just would not be wise.

    This camper has a lot of awesome attributes, but what is with the obsession on windows? Most people insulate over windows in cold or hot environments, these are major energy drain's, it would be nice to see more campers with less window's!

    I’m in the pipeline industry and looking into getting one of these this year. What kind of setup would you recommend for me? I have a 2020 GMC Sierra (6.6 duramax) 3500 dually with about 3500-4000 pounds of payload (welding machine, flatbed, tools etc).

    • @dedalliance1
      @dedalliance1 5 років тому +1

      Sounds like you can buy whatever you want, other than a fifth wheel if you have too many tools in the bed, may not be enough clearance.

    • @Chuy00quiles
      @Chuy00quiles 5 років тому

      dedalliance1 yeah unfortunately I can’t purchase a 5th wheel due to my bed clearance. That’s why I’m looking for the biggest and best bumper pull I can get.

      How does one get into the pipeline jobs?

    • @dedalliance1
      @dedalliance1 5 років тому

      @@Chuy00quiles Yeah, your truck is going to pull just about anything just fine. Guess the thing is deciding if you want a park model or a traditional trailer. I've never had a park model before but from what I've heard you really wouldn't want to move it more than maybe a couple times a year, preferably never really moving it though, at least very far.
      Other than that the only limitations and decisions is what brand and layout do you want, and what you want to spend on one.
      Not sure there's any real full time rated travel trailers other than the park models but they're built more like a cabin than a trailer so from what I've heard they tend to fall apart more when towing.
      But if you're in Texas I'd look into models with 2 or 3 ac units because they're really not that efficient and if you only had 1 ac and it broke you might have a miserable life for a couple weeks lol. Don't really have to worry about freezing pipes though so that's good.

    • @dedalliance1
      @dedalliance1 5 років тому

      @@Chuy00quiles Not sure why I thought you said you were in Texas. Either way, buy one that has the appropriate insulation and features you need for your climate.
