Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge from all those years of experience. Not everyone does that so its much appreciated. A good mentor is priceless but hard to find, so this is really awesome. Keep it coming! Much love
I think the reason why rolling off high end works is that it sounds natural. In my whole life, I've almost never been in a room that reverbs with sharp high end. But, I've also never heard a room with a discernible delay, so I'm not sure why everyone puts quarter note delays on instruments.
Cause people aren't always trying to emulate a live band sound Delay is a flavour, but a more potent one if you like It's all subjective but un natrual things can be cool too
yes. high end is just absorbed better/quicker by the air and the (partially) reflecting surfaces. that's why echoes and reverb drop off towards high frequencies. interestingly, just rolling off high end without manipulating time already makes the source sound further away, i.e. places it more in the background.
Hi Dave, great video, thanks for sharing it. I found the drums of the track were quite interesting giving a lot of movement to the song, was all delay and echo or something more?
Not sure I understood the part about making a side chain with the drums and vocal-rider. Does he want to side chain the drums signal into the vocal rider along with the vocals??
Mikkel Vind Lorenz no ... he does it so that the vocal rider is controlled by the drums and the music... That way, when the vocal rider senses the drums it can tell the vocal what to do.. its like saying.. "hey... vocal rider, pay attention to this drum track so you know how loud to make the vocals" cuz otherwise.. you just have a vocal rider that will make and even vocal level, but it might not fit into the mix... then its just kinda pointless... hope that helps
Angel Garcia Yamaha NS10. But they are passive so you need an extra amplifier. They were Studio standard in the 80s and 90s. If something sounds nice on them it sounds good everywhere else;-)
Thanx for sharing all your tips - there's something to be learned here and in all your videos. But, to be honest, I think that vocal is way to sibilant - it gets to a point where it irritates me - I'm hearing nothing but "sssssss" - nice vocals though!
You know Pensado smokes weed! One of my favorite master producers
Brett Ross A stoner knows another stoner brah
+Gelato Musica - I agree! He's very chilled
I do this a lot since I watched the Tom Elmhirst interview that you did 💖💖💖😁

pls name al the plugins you pull up, i like to watch all your vids
Im wondering if hes got a buscompressor on the 2bus when bouncing the mix and during the mixdown.
Anyone noticed it's mono?
Regarding the song used; who is the artist and what is the tittle.
very nice
God bless u
Dave, Whats the reason for 2 different delays? Is it to thicken up the full delay or something else. Just curious?
Is the delay going thru the reverb?
I'm not talking bout the vocal, I'm talking 'bout the whole track.
thanks
most vocals are recorded in mono..but always comes out in stereo
ahh i barley ever use reverb n delays on vocals but when i do i always roll off top end too. i just dont like the way the s's sound in the mix.
HE musta sent me an angel. In my Yogotti voice.
hey, why is the whole track in mono....? :/
you should mix in mono more so than stereo
I could not understand that. Any help plz
still sounds quite sibilant that vocal
anyone know what song this is?
Plz Track name?!!!
What kind of speakers are those?
Looks like KRK Exposé but i am not 100% sure
