Hi Gordon, for reference, there are two types of "sandies", Lesser sand shark and Greater sand shark. (You can see this in the videos on our channel) A gurnard/flatty/flathead is the fish shown in this video, it's what we call it in South Africa as well. Tight lines brother :)

You right about that.. he got bitten in the exact same place standing in knee deep water, I used to fish stand water often but not anymore
