And it is possible (with a court order or through the proper process) to get a registration number changed (basically like putting a private plate on a car) so if any officer or staff member felt their number was compromised they could just get it changed.
The only way members of public can info about number plates is via the Gove web site and all it says is make, model, and whether taxed and valid MOT, and NOTHING else. This Officer is a prime example of a feelings Officer as he hasn't got a real leg to stand on. If they are that concerned, then they should put signs up and have barriers.

So they must understand and appreciate police are civilians in costumes acting in the office they hold and have no extra expectation of protection.
