In House of the Dragon season 2, in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6, as well as in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 7, Rhaenyra Targaryen will get many new dragons and dragonriders on her side: Ulf and Silverwing, Addam and Seasmoke, Hugh and Vermithor, and Rhaena and Sheepstealer. While they will help Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen take King’s Landing in the season 2 finale, some of the new dragonriders and their dragons will betray Rhaenyra.
Throughout season 2 of the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, in House of the Dragon season 2 episode 7, during the Sowing of the Seeds, Ulf will claim the dragon Silverwing and Hugh will claim the dragon Vermithor. They are the Two Betrayers who will betray Queen Rhaenyra and side with King Aegon Targaryen.

If you didn't read the book, you wouldn't expect it AT ALL.
Rhaenyra already has Syrax, Daemon’s Caraxes, Baela’s Moondancer, Jacaerys’ Vermax, Joffrey’s Tyraxes and Aegon’s Stormcloud. Now she will also get Rhaena’s Sheepstealer, Addam’s Seasmoke, Hugh’s Vermithor and Ulf’s Silverwing. What are they waiting for to attack? Green’s really have only 1 dragon, Vhagar. Sunfyre is almost dead, Helaena’s Dremfyre is useless due to her rider. What more is she waiting for? Zombie Balerion to show up and support her too?
But what Rhaenyra doesn’t have is brains
Its not just about dragons, you need lords and an army to support you, war is very tactical, Outside of the dragons the greens outclass them in every other thing which is why its seems like the greens are on equal footing.

Honestly after rejecting Daemon’s proposals to appropriatley reward the new dragonriders, Rhaenyra deserves the betrayal she gets. Her own family claimed Seven Kingdoms, entire Westeros, with 3 of their dragons, and now Ulf and Hugh have 2 which are the biggest after Vhagar, so why does she think they don’t deserve at least a little castle and lordship that goes with it.

Remember, in the world of Westeros the power was given by blood and family member. Theres houses that come from very old times and they maintain the order by patriarcal line. Very hard to make someone that is not of family a lord. Women were used as a token for strenghten relationships between houses of hight classs. May be, money and so small property but not making one a royal lord.
Sheepstealer has the coolest taming story of all dragons in history. I hope Rhaena like Nettles will claim him by brining him sheep every morning until he gets so used to her that he accepts her as his rider

Rhaenyra deserves to be betrayed by Hugh and Ulf. When you are so stupid to give 2 complete strangers 2 of the biggest dragons (beside Vhagar), all that is left for you is to pray they don’t betray you, which why they wouldn’t at any first sight of a better offer they get. They just met her, they don’t have any loyalty to her and don’t need to feel any loyalty to her, she didn’t do anything for them, they claimed those dragons. On top of that Rhaenyra refusing to give Ulf and Hugh castles, even small ones, is straight up insult since they ride some of the biggest and oldest dragons, after all why shouldn’t they be lords… Rhaenyra makes more and more stupid decisions… totally deserves to be betrayed

Yes I would say Rhaenyra made poor decisions but here is where I have some disagreement, the character of Ulf and Hugh is garbage and their greed cost the Targaryen their dragons both on the black and green side, they even thought at one point that they should be kings so even then no matter how much Rhaenyra could have possibly gave them they would eventually betray her , Rhaenyra just sped the process.

wild. You're basically just praying the people that end up on them are chill. Cuz Daemon is the only one who even has a chance in hell against one of those dragons if they turn cloak and they do..
I'm sure they again switched Rhaenyra's portion to Daemon's, making him look stupid and more evil while making Rhaenyra appear good and smart. I wish they had created interesting female characters like Cersei or Olenna Tyrell from Game of Thrones. Instead, it feels like all the women are pure and good, and all the men are bad and stupid in House of the Dragon.
I also don’t like that part. Both Rhaenyra and Alicent seem to be peacekeepers
The women on this show are such boring characters its honestly sad that removed them of all agency and just made the men the only ones seeking war
It is officially the beginning of the end of
House Targaryen. First they went into dragon war with each other, second the smallfolk will witness dragons are not Gods as they thought so they storm Dragonpit and kill a few, third more and more dragon battles, and at the end there are no dragons left, leaving Targaryen weak and ultimately overthrown in rebellion.
People give Ulf and Hugh a lot of shit for switching sides but honestly, I would have done the same.
These two men have claimed two of the biggest and most expierenced dragons at that time. They were her most important assets together with Daemon.
They were promised lands and riches and what did they get? Some piles if rubble and sand far away on Driftmark. Any attempt by Daemon to give them more, for example the lands of Houses Lannister and Baratheon which he wanted to destroy for siding with Aegon or marrying them into noble houses, were denied time and time again by Rhaenyra herself or Corlys.
These men deserved far more than they got and Rhaenyra should have made good on her promises.
She cant make empty promises and then cry 'betrayer' when it was her who let them down in the first place.

Ulf and hugh are still betrayers regardless, at one point they thought that they should be kings, as terrible as a ruler Rhaenyra was it was obvious they would betray her no matter how much land , castles, and titles they received, Rhaenyra just made the betrayal process come faster.
They wanted to be king so no castles or lorship would have been enough for them in the end Rhaenyra just sped up the process of the betrayal but eventually they would have shown their hand. On thing I agree with is that they should have gotten a better reward.

With Rhaena’s Sheepstealer and Addam’s Seasmoke, both of which we know would be loyal to her, both of which she knows would be loyal to her as well since one is her niece and the other is her Hand’s son, with these two, you now have enough dragons to fight any dragon alongside your Syrax, Daemon’s Caraxes, Baela’s Moondancer, Jace’s Vermax and Joffrey’s Stormcloud, and now joined by Addam’s Seasmoke and Rhaena’s Sheepstealer, you have even enough to take Balerion the Black Dread in his prime, why on earth do you give mighty Vermithor and Silverwing to a complete strangers who show on your doorstep. Addam Velaryon claiming Seasmoke surely means Laenor Velaryon died, right? You can't claim a dragon while its dragonrider is still alive.
There is a theory that the bond weakens if the rider doesn’t meet with the dragon regularly. I think Seasmoke is desperately searching for Leanor and the closest blood is Addam so it settles for him

By the end of the season I don't think anyone would want to align their self with either side seeing how power goes to their head and the start of their downfall. I've no empathy for either side and glad they all died. Just sad for the dragons though......
Tbh with the changes the show is making with Rhaena,having Sheepstealer and Seasmoke should be enough to turn the scales in Rhaenyra's favour.
Vhagar can't win against two adult dragons at once,especially if one of the riders and dragons are experienced and battle hardened like Daemon and Caraxes.
Ofc in the books it made more sense to have Ulf and Hugh claim Vermithor and Silverwing out of desperation,but with Sheepstealer having a rider in the show the need to take such a massive risk is way dumber.
But I guess they stick to the book cannon when it suits them best.

This has to be Rhaenyra’s most stupid action ever. I understand that giving Rhaena, or actually Rhaena claiming for herself a dragon is fine, and Addam, Sea Snake’s son, having one is fine too, Corlys is one of the most respected people in the realm, you know his son is going to be LOYAL, but giving other people who she never met, doesn’t know who their parents are, is complete and utter craziness.
