We would be remiss to call the A360X merely an updated version of the hugely popular A360 pendant. This light has been completely rebuilt to be slimmer, smarter, and more powerful. But the cool part is everything you love and appreciate about Kessil lights is still intact! David from Kessil gives us the lowdown and shows off some lighting control on the Spectral Controller X.

Keeping up with the Joneses. This Reef Hobby is getting out of sight with the cost of Lights.
Insane a light this expensive doesn’t have onboard wifi controllability out of the box, when literally all of its (often cheaper) competitors do.
We thought the same thing, while I am a huge fan of Kessil lighting and the amazing technologies they incorporate, I can't really find a good reason to neglect the wiFi or Bluetooth app control right out of the box.
Here is my suspicions and it is only that, just a guess. I imagine they wanted to hit a certain price point and the newer technology (heat sink, fan, housing, control ports, lens, etc.) is more expensive so they had a choice, really increase the price and sell it with WiFi app control or keep a more reasonable price and offer the wiFi as an accessory feature.

It's a non issue for most people as you should be setting up your lights correctly once with a par meter and then most likely never changing them again ever. This means you would use the wifi feature for like 1 hr on day 1 and never again. There is no need to add more cost by adding wifi to something you only setup 1 time on a tank.

The only thing I am curious is how difficult it will be to take apart and if that will void the warranty. The A350/A360/A360WE all require annual cleaning or so and they can be a real pain to take apart. If I get these I plan on running them long long term. My a350 is still growing corals.
I cannot say exactly how difficult it is to disassemble simply because I have not tried. I can say that the new A360X units have a special vortex fan and larger ventilation openings to help expel dust and debris so less frequent cleanings are required.
Is the tuna blue too much for my fresh water?
The Tuna Blue can definitely be used for freshwater but, it was designed specifically for saltwater reef aquariums.

My new tank is a 50 gallon lagoon. 30x24x16 will I be able to get adequate light with one 360x?

I couldnt understand what he was saying so the other 360 you cant add red, indigo, uv and all that even with the controller. He said the new had it built in and they were in the others but you couldnt play with them. I am assuming he means with just the knob. I really cant afford these but am more interested in the 360 but if I dont have access to those colors even with a controller then I think I will go with Radions being they are the same price, and radions you dont need to buy a controller. Also, with the controller can I ramp up and have moonlight in at least blue? How mch is the controller. Also, I wish they wouldnt have made it smaller and I am sure lots of people agree. The bigger the better..haha. Not necessarily but the other size was small anyway and this is very unimpressive looking unless you are familiar with kessil! Do you charge sales tax?

Im getting huge algae blooms now. I know kessils are set to specific spectrums and changing color wont disrupt that, but I like my hydra 26 full control ability. Nowadays with so many reefers out there sharing their programs of the spectrum their successful in, having full control seems like a better way to go.
And then a $200 seneye completely takes the idea of keeping the full spectrum away from the user.
Yup, I wish I bought more AI hydras...
At least the shimmer is really cool though

If you tune in the black boxes properly and buy enough you won't notice the difference in growth. Don't worry about keeping up with the Joneses.
