Thank you very much for the reaction, very nice by the way, and also for sharing my content. The series about 'the real' is not over yet 😎. It might seem complex, but that's the idea. Because Jacques Lacan's theory on 'the real' indeed exists and it's what the videos are about.
women cant drive
My god man, the fact that Jacques was a real person and his theories were also real just terrifies me, maybe it’s because of what I saw into the video, but just the concept of things that are there and also aren’t creep me out
A Lacanian analog horror, what a combination of words. One of these days we'll also get a Zizekian analog horror
Lacan and ‘the real’ finally put into words the experiences I had after an accident left me in a coma. I would then woke up from that coma and go right into an extended life or death struggle that totally reframed my perspective of… everything. Id never heard of Lacan’s theory about ‘the real’ until this and its the first time I’ve heard anyone capture those border of ‘real’ experiences in words accurately.
Im already reading deeper into Lacan, the real and his other ‘Three Orders’ 😃 For myself, those experiences were profound and perspective expanding but so hard to communicate in language previously. I’d basically given up on being able to have any dialogue where someone could actually understand and have a dialogue about those from a more philosophical perspective. Thank you! Im going to deep dive into Lacan’s work 😃 Now I just have to find people who enjoy Lacan’s theories, philosophy or psychoanalysis of this type 🤔 Let’s hope for my sake that this is the kind of obscure knowledge that has a surprisingly big following these days 😅
"sciens, securiti, hehe 😎"
this garbage is literally one the most convoluted and low effort analog horrors i've ever come accross
34:24 they just had a nice conversation and the mannequin was like 'i didnt know you were chill like that' and sat the same way to represent his chillness
"Sir, he is in fact, chill like that"
i appreciate the trigger warning in the beginning. i had a panic attack and called off work the first time i saw the mandela catalogue (despite it being one of my favorite analog horror series now!) and sometimes it can be hard not to get sucked in think its real if youre predisposed to it
how
@@FatherMcKenzie66 people are scaredy cats now a days i guess
@@FatherMcKenzie66 my girlfriend gets scared by her literal shadow, and I jump whenever someone talks to me suddenly, so yeah. But I'd say trigger warnings are useless, since people like us can get scared by literally anything, and putting tw's everywhere would be like a black mirror episode
@@AggressiveSpaghetti you live in fnaf
@@jessicamartin2113 it's also a disorder to some people, some people have psychological disorders that make them think it's real or have hallucinations..
34:13
someone’s face being melted off cause of some horrific toothpaste:
Baz: “that’s not very cash money”
I think, it’s basically saying that everyones reality is based on their own perception of life. And the things we perceive are just amalgamations of our mind based on our own circumstances. The reality is actually different and our mind masks the true identity of it so we can actually handle what we’re looking at. And sometimes our mind can let go of our own reality and experience the actual one. (I really am trying to explain this as best as I can lmao).
Not bad
this is a terrifying concept because it feels strangely plausible. like, we know for example that "color" doesn't really exist as we perceive it, so...what else doesn't? or what else exists right in front of us that we just can't see?
@@griffy9639 yup! I’ve always pondered if we all see colors differently and if that plays into why sometimes people argue over what exact color something is. Like is it a lime green or neon green kind of thing.
This is basically Jacques Lacan's theory of the register of the Real, but as if the Real was supernatural.
And I find the use of psychoanalysis in these videos just...genius.
Waiting for the part where a complete stranger grabs your hand and says, "Run."
That would be fantastic!
Baz again showing that he does indeed care for the wellbeing of people who may have disorders. I respect the work you do and the inspiration you give. Keep up the great work chief.
also if you really think about it, none of us are truly experiencing "reality". when he mentioned individual fantasies it reminded me that everyone perceives everything different. some people are blind/deaf, have colorblindness, have extreme sensory overload, mental illness, assumptions of other people that arent true. my reality is different from yours. no one is every truly "right" when it comes to our perception of the world
the closest thing to some rather disturbing revelation of reality in the real world we have is learning that the universe functions in discrete rather than continuous measurements.
so what i think its about is your perception of objects is obviously within your own mind, and linguistically calling an apple an apple will solidify what an apple is in your mind, your perception is greatly solidified due to the language. but after a traumatic event, your perception of an object or objects gets shaken, and can break, exposing you to the real.
for instance, lets say someone throws an apple at your head really hard and it somehow traumatizes you. your perception of an apple has now changed, you see it with fear instead of neutrality, you see it as a sort of monster and your perception follows, exposing the real object as it is, due to the violent shift in your perception.
After this performance I am convinced Baz would be a fantastic voice actor on the side if he chose to be.
Also, some may argue this is Lovecraftian terror, but I'd argue it's a step above. Usually Lovecraft stories are about something that people shouldn't mess with, mess with it, then things spiral out of control. Here, there is no cause and effect, it just happens with all the terror Lovecraft came up with and more. No warning, no obvious signs of something to avoid, just instant death, destruction and insanity from something that looks just like anything else. Nightmarish to the nth degree.
Hypertension is high blood pressure in case you didn't know baz :) This is a really cool analogue horror, it's a bit more of a traditional one I guess you could say, and it's nice to see!
I'm gonna add: it's pretty highbrow for analogue horror. I'm taking it at face value honestly and it makes as much sense as the concepts it's showing us I guess, haha!
Me who already has a fear of manikins amd anything humanoid in general: ah yes this definitely wont keep me up tonight :) (love ur vids btw 😁)
Can't wait to see this video! I love analog based on common fears
Thanks for the shoutout Baz! Glad you finally watched it. ❤
23:14 “I dont know my states, i dont know how to read. Why do you guys even watch me?”
Me: CUZ YOUR FUNNY BAZ. THATS WHY
not me also not knowing my states when i literally live in the US smh…
I don’t see why people are afraid of mannequins and dolls and stuff like that. Someone, please explain this to me I do not know why people are scared of these things.
My guess is it's some sort of Uncanny Valley thing. If you don't know what Uncanny Valley is, it's essentially when you see something that's *almost* human, but not quite. You know that something's wrong, even if you can't see it at first, and you go "hm. Don't like that." With that idea in mind, mannequins and dolls are *almost* human in appearance, but they're *not* human. And that invokes a feeling of being creeped out. Just my guess, sorry for the long comment.
@@noname9482thanks buddy. I understand it now.
Of course! I find stuff like this very interesting, so I like explaining it when I can.
So, there are natural fears in this world, such as fear of heights, drowning, burning, or darkness. Another major one is something that resembles a human, but it isn't. Way before mannequins and dolls. Throughout history, people have seen entities that look like humans, but they're not. This makes it a scary natural fear
4:40 BRO WHY DID I GO “mm 😨” AT THE SAME TIME AS BAZ. this is the “right 😀” situation all over again
16:38 Hey, Vsauce! Michael here.
*_I am now a mannequin._*
A new baz video i can watch while I draw!❤
(trigger warning:mentions of stomach sickness)
24:42 G.E.R.D. stands for Gastro-Esophogeal Reflux Disorder. In other words, chronic acid reflux. Can't eat high fat foods, red meat, spicy food, sour food, acidic food, drinking alcohol of any kind, the list goes on. I have it, if you eat what your "trigger foods" are, you have heartburn, reflux, sometimes even severe nausea or vomiting if you mess up really badly with what you eat. Just a bit of info so you understand what this is.
are you fucking serious? since when does heartburn require a trigger warning? fuck's sake lmao
man that just sounds like hell
My mother has it, and my father might have a lesser form of it.
I’m always so happy when baz uploads
this cured my irrational fear of mannequins thank you for showing this gem to me
This is, with what knowledge I have now, and in my current interpretation, my theory as to the nature of "The Real". This is not meant to be a statement, or taken as "canon". Please share and comment, I'd love to learn other theories and interpretations, and hopefully bolster the community around this amazing content.
Initially, in my observation I assumed "The Real" would be some form of pseudo-typical spacial anomaly. I am glad I was wrong, though the consequences seem dire.
"The Real" appears to be an indirect layer that can be percieved as, 'beneath our reality'. Access to "The Real" is usually incidental, and in many cases seems to occur once an individual is made aware of, "The Real". In practice, to be made aware of "The Real" is not a matter of knowledge, but of occurence. Once an object, or person, has occurred in the same vicinity as an instance of "The Real", this instance will affect, or infect the object or persons, in such a manner that, should this person or object continue to occur around other individuals, it will spread this affliction.
Initial awareness of an object afflicted by, "The Real" can be made incidentally via misperception of an object, or persons. This misperception can be assumed to be an accidental identification of the object, and thus one is made aware of its presence, and its viasge is disillusioned.
Interaction with "The Real" appears to present two occurences; One subject may experience a traumatic event, that is assumed to take place with "The Real" and outside of our "Everyday Reality". Where, another subject, that is completely oblivious to the existence, and occurence of the previous, compromised subject, may experience mundane circumstances. However, once a location in "Everyday Reality" is compromised, and recognized by surviving individuals, it will create a constant occurrence of "The Real" in that location.
"The Real" can be equated to a thought project referred too as 'the game'. The rules of the game are as follows: If you know about the game, you lose. Simple recognition and identification of "The Real", or an occurrance of "The Real", is enough to afflict the area, people, and objects involved. It is to be assumed memory loss will not revert these effects, so long as any surviving individuals of a traumatic experience generated by, "The Real" continue to occur.
(Sorry for two very long comments, I meant to leave this as a reply but realized I'd probably copy and paste this heckin' thesis elsewhere. Love you @4.n0m4ly_)
28:49 "Spokaine" lol
As someone from 'Spokaine' I can tell ya it's pronounced 'Spo-can'
Dont worry, it's a common mistake, I've heard it from a lot of people
Im gonna try to explain this as i understand this
When a item breaks the laws of reality or is nonsense ig it makes a tear. A small tear doesnt do much it can only be perceived from cameras or some humans. Then there a big tears that make the real pour out of it in "large segments" enough of it comes out it can start making physical changes like attacking people. Thats what i got atleast i dont really understand the entire thing though
English ain't my first language so some things can seem like nonsense
Goodness me this was amazing. My brain hurts, these will need to start with a request to get a phd before viewing
This feels like the college exam of analog horrors.
They took the Mannequin challenge to a whole new level
17:48 Baz knows Cacodemon from DOOM?
I hate that I clear as day saw a chair in the middle of the reflection
Irrational? No, it's perfectly rational.
You are incredibly underrated, never realized you’re under 100k
The thought process behind calling a room "The annihilation chamber."
HAHAHAHA im speaking both french and english, and i love it when Baz speaking french!!!
“Like the mannequins you threw away, I always come back..”
I saw a chair in the mirror of tape 4
the mannequin reminds me of Gemini Home Entertainment. That also creeped me out. Something about having no face or color, I don't know, just creepy to me.
As an American I am fucking rolling at the idea of Cincinnati being a state XD
Okay so..what i...can tell? From all of this....maybe?
Is that people who haven't perceived trauma or the fear see things that are not traumatizing to them, but those people who have been traumatized see it as something harmful or to be feared of..
As for the jouissance. The definition of this term is- physical or intellectual pleasure, delight or ecstacy... so maybe those people who see things who arnt traumatized see it as something they really like but those people who fear see it as imaginary to themselves mentally. They see it as something what used to be and the good memories of those items are bittersweet.
Dude, an analog horror video using Jacques Lacan is awesome!
For those who may not know, Lacan was a real guy and his academic paper on “The Mirror Stage” is quite unnerving. I don’t recommend it if you’re easily thrown into conspiracy rabbit holes, or, if you struggle with depression and/or existential thoughts. We had to read this paper in my university gothic horror literature class as it fit with the themes we were discussing.
17:50 Your description of a cacodemon is pretty funny
17:56 'thats a spicy meatball'
Cool video, If you think the real is interesting, anomaly has other analog horror series, the one with the moth cult is so spooky.
15:54 i saw a box..? W h a t .
34:13 I think this is the woman mentioned in one of the earlier things! Where it goes, "Some people reported seeing this instead of this woman" and showed this creepy ass drawing of a woman with a hole in her face.
Baz:”This might trigger something inside you, and I don’t want that for anyone.”
(Not)Me:*gains random sexual attraction to mannequins*
Honestly, Baz? You know more states than a lot of Americans do. 😂
That made a concerning amount of sense to me
Did anyone else not get confused?
26:31 is this getting into that particular kind of surrealism like Matisse and who ever did the "ceci n'est pas un pipe" thing?? cos idk I'm feeling the surrealism vibe a little bit
It was literally 5pm when I was watching this part XD 13:39
2:08 Me looking up at the one aimed right at me.
It's ok that you dont know american states and geography, most of the united states population don't know the states or geography either
As someone who lives in Oregon when you said whatever the f that is was very offensive in going to sue you 59 mangos
"The Real" sounds a hell of a lot like the warp, basically hell, from warhammer.
as a french person i am proud that this video is in french
As a fallout 4 player i arleady feared them
I can't help but feel like most, if not all, of the images in this project are either generated by, or touched up via AI, which if anything just shows how valuable AI art generation can be for things like Analog Horror, especially when used to create a starting image and/or source of inspiration to be followed upon by human artists.
I watch Baz, cause of that goofy laugh he tends to do. Or when he's playing around doing different voices. I also do enjoy the analog horror stuff.
ah yes, I was waiting for my daily dose of existential dread
OMG MATPAT NEEDS TO GIVE US A THEORY VIDEO ON THIS SERIES!
guess i cant watch this one. walks away sadly
OF COURSE it’s the FRENXH
Simplifing "the real" is there is percived reality vs reality. When ones percived reality is breached it turns into an interactable thus can cause damage. To put more simply put what belived creates an interactable reality but true reality is something that cannot be percived.
epic video!
13:03 of course it had to he ohio because meme
Love from a Vaush and Astral Knot fan!

*Panics in DID*
Mandala effect is interesting along with this video, but sadly we live in the US. Too much firepower in this country. Florida man and Ohio man are a much bigger threat than these things. 🤣
As someone with major depression, in the words of Ralph Wiggum, *"I'm in danger"* 🙃
Somebody please tell me what the pice playing in the background is please I have been searching for the past hour and I can’t find it I have heard this before so many time but I don’t know the name please help please… 7:19
cool vid btw 😁👍
24:25 bro I live in Or and I use to live in SD (Oregon and south Dakota)
adhd assburgers combo fine
Bible says that swearing is wrong
14:17 does ADHD count?
It's all based on ontological philosophy. Extremely unique if Brandon Sanderson hadn't played with the idea.
were some of these AI images? namely the one where its first shown the tentacle monster things attacking people from the security camera
This right here made the fear worse, but I appreciate it thx
Veryy intresting! Definiely wouldd wattch!
it's the autons
I understand it mostly
This shi real
The fear is rational
I’m already scared of mannequins.
I can’t walk past them without thinking they’ll grab me
I think the only way that I could make any sense of this was thinking of the game song of Sia.
Wouldn’t burning any photos of people include id?
What is the name of the song baz plays at 27 minutes?
I've been very curious about that one since ive heard it before but have never seen anyone else ask about it or say what its called
Gerd is acid reflux
which meatball we talking about? The red raw one or the cooked brown one?
I’ve already seen this by AZFK
👍
