I love these English fishing videos. Everyone is subdued and calm. It's so much more pleasant to watch than US fishing videos. I hope coarse fish angling continues to catch on in the states. We have so many interesting species that deserve recognition and conservation. Coarse fish angling has been picking up steam in recent years and I would love to see it take off.
This is a perfect example of pleasure angling in smaller waters, explained beautifully by this gentleman. Its helpful to someone like myself and the advice is very appreciated. Many thanks, Les.
In the 80s I used to fish the River Roding in Essex called Arlows Farm and it was a surprise what came out. I had a 3Ib8oz Perch, 14Ib Pike and a chub on a slug that I didn’t weigh but it’s size still shocks me and I’ve had them up to 6Ib from the Kennet. Some really good fish can be caught in these small rivers. Thanks for the video and jogging the memories
Boxing Fan,the roding was the first river i ever fished and that was in the early 60s,was a great little river, my dad caught a chub so big he ran home with it and put it in our tin bath so all us kids could see it ,released it back in the river and watched it swim away ,great memories
Love it. Took me back 40 years. I used to fish the river Blithe in Staffordshire and the Mease east of Tamworth. Very similar to this and the fishing was pretty well the same. One or two chub then move on. Odd perch and trout too. The Mease is messed up now with barb wire fencing and dense bushes and netles :-( Thanks for a great little video.
Love the 'Billhook on a landing net handle' idea! I made a hook on a 3/8'' BSF thread for similar purposes, but your idea is better. great vid. I have a similar small river near me (Erewash) and have walked local stretches looking for deeper water on bends, so this is inspiration to give it a try. thanks.
In my film the Chub have been in that spot for a few years. There may not be fish in every deep section and they may come and go as the levels change, but if you can find them, a good days fishing can be had. Best of luck.
I am stuck in a unpleasant polluted place, in a unpleasant job in bad weather, waiting for the next concrete mix to arrive Just wonderful to watch this video, its like a light at the end of the tunnel thank you
Have you ever fished the River Ousel in the South East corner of Milton Keynes. It’s deep and shallow but so overrun with weeds it’s a wonder the fish can swim. The available places to swim can be counted on two hands and do produce some nice fish, nothing big but I’m happy catching anything. I would like some tips on how to keep my temper when all I catch are submerged twigs.
Hi Richard nice little vid. What rod are you using there. It looks shorter than average is just the vid that it looks shorter. I’m looking for say 10ft rod with through action do you knw of any.
The rod in this film is a 10 ft Drennan pellet waggler from their Red Range, ideal for under the trees. Greys make some nice through action rods, might be worth a look.
Amateur Angling thank you Richard will look into them. Nd yeah I’m really getting into shorter rods last couple of years. Been getting feeder and float rods 8-10ft.

Good chance if it's a lowland stream. Best of luck.
Great Video. Can you please tell me the name of your rod. Thanks!
It is a 10ft Pellet Waggler rod from the Drennan Red Range, it worked a treat under the trees.
@@AmateurAngling thank you very much!!!
Is this filmed at Flintstones Adur, Richard?
That's right.
Love this style o roving small brook fishing,
U only get 1 chub specimen per swim an that kills it for 4 hours, u gotta keep moving. .
lovely video mate where is this may i ask? love the smaller rivers myself
This stretch is on private land, but there are small rivers just like this all over. Thanks for your comment, best of luck.
no worries yes there are a couple near me, the only rivers that seem to be free of easterns eating all the fish lets hope they stay that way
Nice vidéo !
Nice video 😉
You should show how to approach the fish
