Maestro Schiff is ALWAYS fascinating and expresses himself beautifully in words as well as music. One of the truly great pianists of today, with also a beautiful personality.
I have been listening to Schiff perform Bach on our local radio station KBAQ in Scottsdale Arizona. I am very impressed. I am a classically trained cellist and teacher who performed in the Denver Symphony for several years under Golschman.I have been a fan of Bach since I was ten years of age. I have of course studied the Bach Suites for cello. I am now retired from teaching cello and violin and string classes in public schools and at universities.
Having listened to a lot of episodes of this wonderful radio program, I am quite taken by the intro/extro music which to my consternation, I couldn't seem to pinpoint the composer and the work itself though it truly does sound familiar. Is it by Bach, Handel or one of the many Italian Baroque Masters? Could someone please help me and tell me? Thank you so much to anyone who can, that includes you Mr Noochinator. Thank you for these priceless uploads.
Percussiveness is not an inherently bad quality in Bartok and Prokofiev, Mr. Schiff and Dubal. It simply refers to the rhythmic, powerful tone essential to the music.

The more I listen to András Schiff the more I like this man.
Quietly spoken and gentle, and one of the finest musicians I have ever heard. Also, he has a delightful sense of humour. Many thanks for the upload.
Andras Schiff is my greatest musical hero alive.
Mine too!
Amazing as always, fascinating

The comment on Glenn Gould was super interesting.
For reference, they speak about Glenn Gould starting at 38:46
When András Schiff plays, the piano sings.
35:05 "Awww..."
