CONCACAF should seriously look at least rotating the Nations League and possibly the Gold Cup between the USA & Canada with possibly some with Mexico. Allow some of these nations to host some of these events.
Weirdly I would argue that 2000 to 2002 was the strongest concacaf era. The hex for the 2002 World Cup was really competive and didn’t even feature Canada, a team that just came off the gold cup. Than the US beat Mexico in a classic match to make it to the quarter finals only losing 1-0 to Germany. Costa Rica drew 3rd place turkey and champions Brazil and managed to go 1-1-1 in their group. Even Trinidad and Tobago had a good squad at the time.
Id say 1900’s to 2005 Mexico won the confederations cup and were runner ups in copa America US made it to the third place in World Cup Mexico beat Brazil in 2005 that had R9, Robaldhino, and KaKa
One of the discussions I hear online a lot, is about the overall quality of all the confederations and how they stack up against each other. Historically, CONCACAF has basically been the fifth best of the six confederations. I think if we continue to see a rise on the world stage for players at club level and the national teams as a whole, I think there's serious potential for CONCACAF to at least find equal footing or even surpass the likes of AFC and CAF within the next 20 years, so long as they maintain this upward trajectory. Now of course, there's a lot of ifs involved with that, but if the region can build off of where they're at right now, it's certainly possible.
If the US and Canada continue to improve at this pace it’ll force Mexico to do as well. We can be #2/3 eventually. Outside of Brazil I see a future where we spank conmebol
Though as Canadian, and after his stellar year in Lige 1 and Champions League -Scoring against Real and Atletico- I would say David is the best right now, your analysis is fair. Keep the CONCACAF discussions coming..
I agree about Canada needing to win a trophy, they've got a very gifted group of players (I'd say their best ever on paper) but until they win something meaningful, they won't be taken seriously
Also Ik u said Canada hasn’t done anything in terms of trophy but they legit finished top 4 at the copa America, beating half of South America. That’s got to count for a lot
I've honestly never understood Canadians complaining about the US hosting every tournament. A) The US barely has fans that turn out anyway, and the environment is garbage anyway. B) It's not like Canada would turn out either if it was hosted there. I've always respected that Mexicans don't complain about the US hosting (besides just wanting it in different places, which is fair), because they know it's still a home match for them.
Jack, I appreciate your open mind & yes Canada better win this cup; but just because you are tired of hearing Canadians complain about always having to play on the road in the U.S., doesn't change the fact that it is a huge advantage, which people conveniently dismiss. If FIFA & CONCACAF won't change this situation, they should, at the very least, give teams that play on the road a handicap when it comes to FIFA rankings, which ultimately impacts seeding in the World cup. If Canada wins the Nations League in the U.S., it should carry more weight in their ranking, than if the U.S. wins it. The same would be true if the U.S. would win it in Canada. Canada ended up in 4th place in the Copa Amercas, again, playing in the U.S. & again, that should have been factored into their FIFA ranking. You guys & your trophies! I'll say it again, for my money, Canada winning the Qualifiers in 2022, when every country had to play at home & away, for the biggest prize, the 2022 World cup. (& the U.S. finished tied with 4th place Costa Rica), along with Canada's 4th place finish at the Copa Americas, against much better competition, which was once again played on U.S. soil, is much more impressive than the U.S. winning the CONCACAF Nations League cup at home, even if they do hand out a trophy at the end...
My only question is when will Mexico take the Nations league with seriousness. They always liga mx players but leave out all of the players in Europe As of now Mexico has Raul Jimenez (Fulham) 🏴 Edson Alvarez (west ham) 🏴 Araujo (AFC) 🏴 Johan Vasquez (Genoa) 🇮🇹 Santi (Feyernoord) 🇳🇱 Rodrigo(Copenhagen) 🇩🇰 Orbelin Pineda (AEK) 🇬🇷 Jordan Silva (OFI) 🇬🇷 Luis Chavez (Dinamo) 🇷🇺 Cesar Monte’s (locomotive) 🇷🇺 Cesar Huerta (Anderlecht) 🇧🇪 Ochoa (AVS) 🇵🇹 Antonio portales (Dundee) 🏴 Victor Lopez (Dundee) 🏴 Cesar Garza (Dundee) 🏴 Which is more than enough for an 11 from players in Europe.
Yeah, but the thing with Mexico is if they don’t see the players getting decent minutes then they won’t be called up over an old ass Liga Mx starter. (Memo Martínez, Henry Martín, Gallardo)
@ it would be better for all of the players in good European leagues to get called up because then it puts more pressure on liga mx players to go to Europe and compete in a better team.
Shocking to me Canada would consider themselves on the level of USMNT. What is a regional tournament meant for if not to crown a champion of the region? The US has smacked them in recent (see: all) Nations Leagues iterations. This squad is considerably better than those ones. I guess, keep talking.. see you on the podium. (No hard feelings friends up North, just competition)
Well today only Canada is winning against Mexico in the women's team we are focusing about the Man team because the men's team of the most popular ones 🇲🇽
Oh I KNOW Jack did not just compare us to Cersei Lannister. Unsubbed, disliked, reported, banned, police report filed. And don't think you can escape, Jack. I'm telling Milei you tried to create new government jobs.
You talk about competitive matches. However nations league's schedule is centred around allowing canada, usa, and mexico to host said friendlies. If they are as pointless as you claim it to be, then we're better off playing nations league group stage .
Santi Gimenez its scoring gols yes in the Dutch tournament 😂😂..whit l don't think its better the MLS or MX tournaments..he sucks whit the national team
The US had beaten mx in the first iteration of NL, consecutively beat them in the Gold cup, and went on to go on an unbeaten streak while MX was still considered kings of concacaf n nobody was ready to crown the US kings of CONCACAF after that that. The US squad was head and shoulders above the mx squad n still nobody budged. It took a 3 peat in NL n our players balling out in europe every week to finally be crowned kings of concacaf for like a month. WTF has Canada done to be tied w the US as kings of concacaf?? Maybe u can make the unlikely case their starting 11 is a bit stronger but thats 🧢 n we’ve established precedence that strength of squad doesnt give you the right to the throne as king of concacaf. No way ur gonna tell me a 4th place finish at copa america gets u that if u done fuck all outside of tht. They def can be easily esp w marsch, but havent done anything to deserve that yet
I like the fade u used to have more
Imma need at least 20 upvotes on this to overpower my girlfriend. Otherwise the long hair stays.

They prefer US dollars to steal instead because concacaf is corrupt.
Hate to be that guy lol but Pochettino didn't draw against NZ, that was under Mikey Varas. He's only lost once against Mexico, won the other 4 games
All hail King Pochettino.

As a Canadian I find it hard to disagree with anything you've said about the team or the players. Spot on. Keep up the good work!
Canada needs to win the Nations League. Too many important players will be missing the Gold Cup

The problem is this is the best concacaf has ever been and its still clearly the worst confederation in the talent category aside from ofc
Off topic but why do you hate qatar ?
Jealousy. Envy. Camels. That type of stuff.
