Jay; this is my final setup list to get my first tank started, let me know what you think: - Aqueon 29 gallon with Aqueon glass lid (sold separately) - Contractor Pea Gravel 5mm mixed with CaribSea River Gravel 2mm (cheaper pea gravel keeps cost down) - Hygger LED (programmable for planted tanks) - Eheim Jagger with Inkbird Temperature Controller - SunSun Cannister HOB with Sponge + K1 Bio Media (smaller and easier to maintain than full size canister, since there's no long tubes) - SOBO Battery Air Pump with Aquarium Co-Op Sponge Filter (up to 90 hours runtime on battery) - FritzZyme 7 and API Master Test Kit ( 8 weeks minimum tank cycle, I'm in no rush) I didn't list the plants, fertilizer, quarantine bucket and many other things I'll need. But I've planned out almost everything already and done loads of research. Thanks to your informative videos and many others...
Nice! Those Silvertips though looking baller! Snails in my experience are good but over feeding can bring more on. In my experience. The 40 looks excellent
There’s only a few fish in there right now and when I feed I put the smallest little pinch of food in. So I know I’m not over feeding. They had a ton of food once I killed all that algae and now it’s gone. I’ve always had these snails and my next build won’t have a single one. Ever. 😂
New waterbox! Outstanding… can’t wait to see the new setup. I just pulled my 40g breeder yesterday and started moving it to (I think) an Ehiem 47g Open rimless tank I got locally.
The 40b is looking good Jay! Stoked for the new tank hopefully they can get it to you in one piece 😅 sounds like there was already 1 unsuccessful attempt
Tank looks nice not too wild, there's certain fishes that eats snails if you want to get rid of them I one had a problem like that where I bought eco complete soil when I was starting in the hobby at first i spotted 2 or 3 after a while there were lots of them and i couldn't get rid of them fast enough it took my a while I wish I had known about those snail eating fish back then
*QUESTION:* I have very hard tap water - I do use a conditioner to remove chlorine etc. but water stays fairly hard as my fish breeds are all suited to hard water conditions... All my aquariums use gravel only & are fully planted with root feeding plants. All are fairly fully stocked. I use plant tabs only and not very often= I am finding that the hard water and fish waste, for the most part, are sustaining my plants (sure they don't "flourish" but do grow -slowly) to the point that I can move the new growth to other locations or other tanks... I have only had one fish ever die and that was due to stress (small young female & large aggressive older male) I have also never had an issue with each tank having the same conditions (test strips are identical even though people tell me that is near impossible) to the point that I have never had issues moving fish from tank to tank as they spawn (trying to keep male to female ratios comfortable for them). I would like to hear your thoughts on how well fish waste, in hard water, can sustain plants without (or with very little) fertilizer dosing (and only gravel for substrate) I moved to a new apartment, set up and no real issues (as above info) for a year. (with new fry on a monthly basis) Am I dreaming, or do I have a lucky horseshoe ? (seems too good to be true) Anyway = just wondering (and would greatly appreciate) your thoughts on this. THANX !
@@ThePlantedTankTV lol it has gotten outta control!! On a serious note what about a couple pea puffers to take them snails out?? I know there aggressive sometimes but 2 or 3 in a 40B should b ok
@@ThePlantedTankTV there pretty cool like little bulldogs lol.....they can be aggressive but generally it's with eachother and with to many in a smaller tank u got a 40B and plants r growing in nice 3 or so u should be fine no problem

The only reason to buy them is that the dimensions match their aquariums so well. They are as cheap as it gets.Vinyl coated MDF (which we know is awful for water exposure) fastened with cam screws. Just like a cheap piece of IKEA furniture. They should cost about 25% of what they are being sold for.
@@ThePlantedTankTV There is nothing quite like it in what specific ways? The self leveling feet? What am I not seeing? I am a licensed contractor and was a handyman who assembled products for many years. I know cheap stuff when I see it. Are they made from solid wood or MDF?
Can you guess which tank it is? HUGE shoutout to WaterBox Aquariums for sponsoring this new setup!

That's awesome!!! You'll have to keep me posted on how it goes!!!!
40 gallon is looking sick! I love water box, I have two of their tanks and the build quality is top notch 🙂
Yeah man they really are. And they are always improving their designs which I love.
There new Eden series is dog shit though. Smoked glass top limiting us to blade lights was a poor decision.
@@napaquatics3639 oh, I'm not familiar with that. Sounds strange!
Maaan you are alive!!!!
Awessome!!!

Love Waterbox! Congrats
I’ve been working with them for years now. They are such good people! 🙏
wow ..... the40G breeder looks dope....... congrats on ur new tank.....

Yeah it said out for delivery and then damaged unable to deliver. Sucks but it happens. 😅🙏

Nice tank,is that Coral moss on the driftwood?
Nope that is ADA Peacock moss. And thank you! 🙏🙂
Nice. Does the waterbox stand have adjustable feet for leveling?
Yes! It has a lot of adjustable feet on the bottom! There like 6of em I think!
Question about the shelf you are using for your current aquarium. Are you using the particle board that it came with? How has it held up?
It works but I don't recommend it. It sketched me out everyday lol
0:03 🤣
Hahaha! 🤣🤣

Is that just bladders that do that or Ramshorns as well? 0.0
Seems like just bladder snails in my experience! Have't had a whole lot of other "pest" snails.
Put a piece of cucumber on a fork and hang it inside, all the snails will cling to it. After that you just take it out.
That’s a good idea. I’m going to try that today! I’ll let you know how it goes.
What is that plant on the left against the back of the tank?
That would be lobelia cardinalis. Known to be a difficult plant to grow but is very easy in my opinion. Great plant though!
What stand are you using for your 40 g tank on
A Home Depot stand. It’s was like 100$. The tough version. Check my other videos there are links to it.
Is it worth it over buying something else at a similar size? It just looks like an over priced cabinet to me atm lol
There’s nothing else on the market quite like it. That’s why I haven’t even mentioned what tank it is yet. Hope it shows up soon!
