a lot of people: complain how poison "romanticizing s*ual abuse" Also poison: "I'm sick of the poison.. wish I had something to live for tomorrow!" (as well as 90% of the lyrics being about how miserable angel dust is)
i seriously don't get how you can get that impression at all even without the visuals you still have lyrics like "another one of those ruthless nights" (doesn't sound lik a happy time) "I shoulda guessed that this would happen I shoulda known it when I looked in your red-hot eyes Spewin' all your red-hot lies" (well that sounds like a person he's not fond of) "what's the worst part of this hell?" (do they not realize hell is almost univerally supposed to be a BAD thing. like the point of the whole show is to get people OUT OF HELL) poison is not a good thing then the visuals aren't subtle about all the sh** he goes through like the idea behind the song is this is him in the verge of a breakdown just trying to get through another day that hardly sounds romantic
I feel like the music video bits are his delusion the world he puts himself in kinda like the movie sucker punch where he sees himself as being like a popstar doin music videos but in reality its the other scenes that go on in the background
i'm honestly surprised you took care of such an incredibly divisive, though intriguing, subject so well! the level of respect you share with those who may be sensitive to these types of situations is admirable. full support as always bud!
glad to hear you think i handled it well! i understand it's a touchy subject, therefore i only spoke based on my knowledge and ensured i didn't step outside of that!
When I first heard this song I was reminded of a song from 2009 that I had listened to repeatedly, Familiar Taste of Poison by Halestorm. It has a very similar theme and the music video ties into the death aspect. Check it out if interested.
So much of the pain in these songs is the victim trying to convince themselves that they are the ones choosing to consume the poison. It's a survival mechanism of course, trying to regain autonomy by making the abuse something that you want. That way you don't have to think about what is being done to you.
@@1Cryptid one fun question though, you point out how Val is a "thing" in regards to parasitic behavior, devouring others, using them... does that not remind you of another far more popular demon? who just happens to be a more sly manipulator? i think it would be an interesting discussion how murder/violence is viewed more positively than sexual abuse in the fandom.
hey, just wanna say that you are really good at making thumbnails. Very clean and helps communicate the point of the video super well. keep up the good work
Survivor of sex trafficking here we’re a system and Anthony was formed from that trauma. Obviously we relate to Angel Dust lol and Poison honestly encapsulates the abuse we experienced perfectly. A lot of the people we see complain about the song on the survivors’ behalf without asking us how we feel about it.
what are some of your opinions on the relationship between val and angel?
i'd love to hear your thoughts!

As someone who's escaped a similar life as Angel had under Val... this song, this scene, this *character* rocks my world at every turn.
same
@@migi4678 Sorry you also had to survive that, (if I read your same right.) I hope, like me, you escaped
I’m sorry that happened to you. Glad you could get out.
