I am a retired USA expat living in Sao Paulo with my Brazilian husband. Two years ago we spent 4 months in Florianopolis in southern Brazil. One thing about Brazil that's really different from my life previously in California and Missouri are the shopping malls in Brazil. They seem to be more numerous and higher quality stores than in the USA where malls seem to be a dying breed as compared to my younger years in the 1970s and 1980s. I do love the all you can eat buffets in Brazil. The food is higher quality than USA buffets and much less cheaper.
@@robertheintz8017yeah, those are called "por quilo" restaurants. There are lots of those too. But there are the "all you can eat" as well. I also am from the US living in São Paulo. There are malls everywhere. That's true in many Latin American cities. In the US malls are often associated with suburban life and they are dying. Quite the opposite in Latin America.
Just a tip: as you may have noticed most people are white in this part of brazil so don't think you're "the shit" just because you're white, no one is treating you differently or in a special way, people are just like this in Brazil but from a foreigner point of view you can think they're treating you like a god or something because you're used to rude people. As for the stereotype of people from curitiba being closed it's real but it's in a perspective from other parts of Brazil that are way too expressive and open but if you compare them to Europeans or north americans they're way more open. Just treat people like humans and with respect and you'll be fine, Brazilians are open for foreigners, not only americans or Europeans but also immigrants from latin America.
