Prescott showing what a true F1 fan he is! No one would mind if he wasn't, clearly as Deputy PM at the time it's natural for him to attend and present a trophy. But brilliant that he failed miserably in pretending to understand the sport!
Ecclestone always took the piss. I remember one time Brundle was doing his grid walk and Bernie pops up beside him out of nowhere, pointing to a guy a few feet away saying "look, there's the Prime Minister of Turkey!". Brundle then runs across and sticks the mic in front of this guy who looks completely bewildered. Turned out it was just some random dude!
I've written a script, right. Edge Frentzen into the gravel into the first corner, drill Irvine. Schumacher and Hakkinen are going to have each other off. Follow Coulthard, he's going to come in 10 laps to go cos he's going to be so surprised the car's still running. You go on to win, yellow flags waving!
I love it when everyone on the grid is having fun and not taking themselves too seriously. Drivers and celebs alike. And who cares if the celebs know nothing about f1? Everyone starts somewhere. Just dont be stuck up or act like you’re better than everyone else, and at least pretend that you’re not just there for sponsorship commitments
Bernie is a business man and a bloody good one. Look at how far he's brought f1. Before he came to it the organization was a shambles. Now its a multibillion dollar business broadcast to almost every country on the planet. Bernie is a legend that actually has a passion for racing.
Reminded me of my old man. Whenever i missed a race of some sort and asked him "Who won?" he'd always respond with "Im sure the one that crossed the finishline first".
What? He's been consistently great throughout the years. His battles with Tanja back in the Vettel championship days for example were hilarious etc. The show and the spectacle has been totally diluted by Liberty Media over the past 3 or 4 years.
1:53 that was savage if you think of it. But all in all people where more human back then. Today it is just strange at times. Even before the covid tyranny it already was.
He said if he's going to commentate on the races, he wants to commentate live on every race of the season. He couldn't do that with the BBC. He's got a point too, I wouldn't want to commentate on footage where I already know the result and have to act surprised if a crash happens.
Actually, i think they do commentate on the race as it happens, there just not allowed to show the footage on TV until later. Still agree with tho, Brundle moved coz he wanted to do all the races.
Im from Finland. You simply don't get as much from being jobless than from a factory work :( And here in Finland, everything costs more than in almost any European country.
