7 years later and this is still helping me with my greek philosophy class at ucla! thank you very much Professor Sadler! I was having such a hard time reading book II especially.
Thank you very much for these videos I am in a introductory philosophy and my professor seems to only want to hear her own opinion and won't answer questions abut the material without belittling me for not understanding what she teaches
At 1:58 you said that Plato was grappling with the idea of the social contract theory and that they were past thinkers to Plato that were also grappling with these ideas. Who were those ancient thinkers and how did Plato differ from them? Thanks.
Well, he's interesting to read. I tend not to enjoy talking with "Levinasians", though. Back when I used to move in those circles, it was always about how we're all effacing the face of the other, we're all hypocrites, etc.
Hi, can you help me with this question: How is the United States system of justice (economic system) measured on the scale of Plato's idea of justice? Also if you have any recommendations for specific sites that can provide me with information that is related to this question I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi Greg, are there any notable differences or similarities between Plato and Rawls conception of justice? Thanks
Yes indeed there are -- I'm sure when you read through them both, they'll be quite apparent to you
