    Elevate your ordinary Luk Chup (Agar Dipped Mung Bean) to these super cute flowery pastel balls. Guarantee the ‘wow’ factor from your guests for the upcoming end of year holidays.
    Easy Peasy with Telephone Agar. Please don’t let the length of the recipe intimidate you. This recipe is one of the simplest we have ever made!
    Prepare all the following ingredients for all the parts:
    1. 8½ tsp. or 20 g. Telephone Agar powder
    2. 150 g. Mung Bean (Soaked overnight)
    3. 450 ml. coconut milk
    4. 650 ml. water
    5. 6 ½ tbsp. granulated sugar
    6. ½ tsp. salt
    7. A pinch of pepper
    8. Food colorings of your choice
    Don’t forget to grab A FOAM BLOCK and SKEWERS* to hold your Luk Chup after dipping in agar.
    And, of course, your favorite TINY MOLDS*.
    Start the recipe with
    1. Making the mung bean paste
    2. Colored coconut agar
    3. Flower agar
    4. And clear agar for glazing
    Ingredients for mung bean paste
    • 150 g. mung bean
    • 100 ml coconut milk
    • 1½ tbsp granulated sugar
    • ½ tsp salt
    • A little bit of pepper to taste
    Instructions
    1. Blend the soaked mung bean until smooth
    2. Mix with coconut milk, sugar, salt, and pepper
    3. Use a stove to heat the mixture on low temperature until cooked and thickened
    4. Set the paste aside to cool
    5. Shape the paste into little balls and poke the skewer into the center of each ball. Then poke on the foam to rest.
    Ingredients for colored coconut agar
    • 3 tsp. or 6 g. Telephone Agar (2% of the total liquid ingredients)
    • 150 ml. coconut milk
    • 150 ml. water
    • Food coloring
    Instructions for colored coconut agar
    1. Stir coconut milk, water, and agar powder together and leave it for 10 mins.
    2. Boil the mixture until the agar is completely dissolved.
    3. Add sugar
    4. Add food coloring
    5. Take off the heat
    6. Dipped the prepared mung bean balls into the mixture and set them aside on the foam block.
    7. Wait for a few minutes before dipping into the mixture for the second time.
    Ingredients for flower agar
    • 1 ½ tsp. or 4.8 g. Telephone Agar (1.2% of the total liquid ingredients)
    • 200 ml. coconut milk
    • 200 ml. water
    • 3 tbsp. sugar
    Instructions for flower agar
    1. Soak agar in coconut milk and water together for 10 mins.
    2. Bring to a boil and stir well until the agar powder is completely dissolved.
    3. Add sugar and stir well.
    4. Pour into separated bowls and add food coloring into each bowl.
    Ingredients for clear glazing agar
    • 4 tsp. or 9 g. Telephone Agar (3% of the total liquid ingredients)
    • 300 ml. water
    • 2 tbsp. sugar
    Instructions for clear glazing agar
    1. Again, soak agar in the water for 10 mins.
    2. Bring to a boil until the agar is completely dissolved
    3. Add sugar
    4. Take off the heat and dip the prepared coconut-coated balls in
    Instructions for assembling
    1. Trim the excess agar that dripped down the skewers off
    2. Take flower agar out of the mold
    3. Use the leftover clear glazing agar as glue to stick the flowers on the balls.
    And we are done! Phew. It seems to have many steps, but it is nothing complicated at all. Plus, the recipe is great for mindfulness practice. It is very calming and relaxing when you are making it 😊
