This week the EU gave a pass to iMessage, Zuckerberg said the Apple Vision Pro is worse than the Meta Quest 3 and I think he is both right & wrong and OpenAI revealed Sora, the insanely impressive video generation AI.

regarding interoperability:
the quest OS is derived from the the android OD & is from the same family as the linux OS, so they can achieve interoperability in that direction pretty fast if they want to
4:48 still doesn't justify the 3k price tag
Pretty sure I read a research paper saying the people prefer over sharpened images to the actual images, I think the same can be said for colour saturation which is why the standard mode on all TVs is oversaturated.
Same reason as why we always disable Bloom and Motion blur in games
It's just much more satisfying and stimulating when there's a sharp, oversaturated image Infront of our eyes
@@shuttzi9878And film grain.
I have to agree with Zuck tbh, while Vision Pro maybe better for productivity - it's also only working with Mac and iPad which are a subset of a subset of a very niche use case. If you're considering its overall value, there's no denying that the Meta Quest is an infinitely better 'product' the consumer can actually use today.
And while there's no way Apple will let any of their apps working with Meta, they are not the only one who make software for a computer, I can totally see him trying to get Microsoft onboard, and there's a good chance that they will take up on that offer just like how they collaborate with Samsung. Microsoft is just the kind of company who will gladly partner who are willing to disrupt the software market share
But how are you going to run Windows programs on Android with the quest runs on the Vision Pro can in theory run MacOS Apps IPad Apps and iPhone Apps
Like Steam is running windows games on Steam Deck.
The infinitely better is a really personal opinion.. for me it's laughabke when the 3rd gen still can't play 3D movies.. you only can watch 2D movie with stereo audio, what is the same with any monitor... but the Vision Pro already can play the 4K 3D Avatar movie with 7.1 sounds from Disney+... better resolution, better (more) dimension, better sounds.. those are not things what the infinetly worst device should do (and it's even the 1st gen Vision Pro is able to do this right after the release, but Quest 3 still can't after years...)
Yes Quest has more games , but only just now, check the ratio again after half a year or one year later...
Btw Quest is limited to 3 screen, Vision Pro not limited, and even gamers sometimes need more than just 3 screen.. (1 for the game, 1 for discord for example, 1 for background music playing and you basically over, you can't do anything else.. if you get a file on discord you can't even open the file manager because that is the 4th windows, and you are limited to 3 windows..
And the windows handling also superior in Vision Pro compared to Quest.. if you open a Window at home, put it somewhere, and you can even leave the house, go out for a few hours and when you go back the Window still on the same position where you left.. ok it's not realistic to leave the house, but if it works fine even than, if you just go to grab some food/drink or toilet break etc, that will also work fine...
Microsoft has little incentive to work with Meta, since they have their own AR device. Hollolens allows people to snap Windows programs to any wall or point in space they choose, just like the Vision Pro does, and it has been doing it for the past 8 years. It also has actually see-through screens. And funnily enough the base model costs exactly $3500, which MS deemed too expensive for consumers so it's only sold for industry and education. But now that Apple sells a similar device, it's likely we'll see a consumer version of the Hollolens 3.
That's my take on this as well. AVP is the technically superior device, but MQ3 is the 'better' product for most people. We can re-evaluate once the non pro vision comes out, but by then, Meta may have fired back at apple with a better Meta Quest.
Altman is speedrunning the goddamn Matrix... This is why his old board wanted to stop him.
I want neither of these screens on My head ever...
Then don't
ok boomer
💀
The future is now old man!
Quest 3 can totally do AR and with controllers you have a better experience. Yes it might be a clearer resolution but i can walk around the house with no problem and even text on my phone while having the MQ3. I also see Meta updating MQ3 to do 98% of the things Apple Vision can do. Plus i do prefer they wider field of vision, it being lighter, not being tethered to a battery and costing 7x less
Google denying the Play Store to the Meta Quest isn't a nail in the coffin of it getting Android apps. While for now the Play Store is by far the largest platform, the Android apps already exist, and Meta maintaining React Native means they already build dev tools for Android so they have some foundation from which to compete with Google Play Services components
I think what you said in 5:52, can be done. Like how huawei phones work without playstore, flat android apps can already run on the quest.
Fun fact: You can sideload any android app on the Quest 1, 2, 3, and pro. So it technically has the full breadth of android apps available just like AVP has the app store apps.
here is your problem ... Apple "can" port games and apps to the vision pro. Only problem is - by that time, you will have the Meta next gen - and likely another 3500+ $ vision 2 pro.
so the vision pro will be useless by that time .. .or outperformed by the next meta .. because this one has a headroom of roughly 3000 $ to increase screen quality and other stuff to match the vision pro
But how will they compete with Apples M series chip like the M2/M3 and with no Play Store they will never run Android phone Apps or they few Android tablet apps that are out there
You forget that the user experience that Apple has implemented can’t be matched by meta. 5000 patents, if they try to copy guess what it is time to take them to court.
@@lesleyhaan116wdym how? The X Elite chip(PC-Grade ARM Chip) has the same performance as the M2 while drawing less power and the upcoming 8 Gen 4 which is meant for smartphones draws EVEN less power while already being 2.5x times more powerful than the Chip used in the Quest 3 (just like how it was with Quest 2>3) and having 1.4x better GPU compared to the M2
We already have the tech, it's the niche that VR is atm that is limiting the adaptation
Plus you can actually side load the Play store on the Quest and play mobile games if you want to (It only makes sense if the game has Controller support tho)
@@shuttzi9878 but will normal people do this you could side load the Play Store on blackberry OS 10 phone and normal people did still not buy blackberry phones
why did he became somewhat relatable for the first time ever
He is when he talks about VR, which is clearly his passion project. You gotta remember this dude is just some nerd that became super famous. I can totally understand someone like that being stilted in the media, in front of cameras and politicians, but totally different when they just talk tech in a room
9:03 exactly my thought.
And on top of that. I wish, and also expect that really basic cheap music, novels, news and games or other art, will be so abundant and uninteresting, that we might really looking forward, to hand crafted longer, or more advanced entertainment.
Meta: Games
Apple: Productivity
Windows: Both
Google:.........
Jack of all
Google doesn’t discriminate
Google: Ads.
Soo the Quest vs Apple Vision situation is people who want to have fun vs people who want to look important.
Maybe the future wil have normal spectacles with transparent displays .
Never laughed at a title this hard.
why would google deny the playstore on the quest? makes no sense to me
2d floating is cool only if the headset is compact and very comfortable. The use case requires it to be weared for longer times.
YEEES. Making e-bikes better literally makes my day. Now they just need to make em cheaper for the average person to get into. Make an entry model as cheap and robust as possible.
I watch this every Friday without miss
thanks for the grate work , Regarding VR /MR what is your thought on Microsoft hololens?
"we all gona lose our jobs to AI" well, thats the spirit
About the section on meta vs apple approaches, what I want is that the virtual content that is mixed with reality is not just a bunch of flat floating windows, but rich 3d elements that you can interact with. And I think even Apple wants something like that, at least for video conferencing and 3d movies
Zuck needs his own OS to compete with Apple
Ye
the debate is simple: if Mark made it, i’m not touching it. there’s nothing in the history of facebook that could be improved by having it glued to your face.
It's different devices, made for different use cases. Idk why people can't comprehend it
Reminds me of Steve Balmer making fun of iPhone… Time will tell of course.
Doesn’t have a keyboard
Or Steve Jobs making fun of big smartphones
@@Simsationxl u know u can attach a keyboard right...
Not really.. they are almost trying to achieve the same thing
that interview was so desperate
Do you have to have these (almost) deceptive transitions or segues into ads? I really like what you do otherwise. Nice video.
If Apple's competitors (Meta, Google, Microsoft, Samsung, etc) want a chance against Apple they MUST be willing to work together. We've seen success now in the smartphone space with lots more collaboration recently between Google and Samsung or Samsung and Microsoft. Google must be willing to work with Meta on these headsets and it is disappointing if they are refusing e.g. play store on the quest.
Meta will seriously dominate if they nail the AR experience. Both VR and AR are vital, and focusing on just one will feel limiting long-term.
They wont nail the AR experience. Fuckerberg just does not have the mind and leadership vision. He can only copy or buy out promising companies. Not develop anything from scratch.
Meanwhile, Gemini 1.5 has a context layer of 1 million tokens
"Both right & wrong" is actually a good way to describe many who have ever reviewed a product. Thats why at the end of the day is up to the individual to decide for themselves.
Eh, I'm sure there exist some objective truths; especially in the tech industry, where drawing direct comparisons (512 GB of storage is more than 256 GB; 16 GB RAM is more performant than 8 GB RAM; etc.) are quite easy.
One example I can think of right now, is how Apple still includes 8 GB of ram on $1600 Macbook Pro models. This is objectively a bad aspect, due to how it's a factor in Apple's price ladder marketing strategy, which is anti-consumer. Regardless of an individual's personal circumstances, then, (such as being rich, or never using more than 8 GB of RAM) this fact does not go away. (Besides, a person using less than 8GB of RAM would not require the newest $1600 Apple machines, and a rich person can still make money-conscious decisions.)
Did I hear you say that the short form crap is going to disappear? That would be nice!
Vision pro is great dust collector
Thanks for the vid
Two firmware updates from now the only thing the AVP has on Quest 3 (productivity/seamlessness of experience) will no longer be in their favor. And if you want to game with a VR device, the Quest 3 will never be beatable. Its app library is huge and can do wireless desktop VR natively with the latest updates.
The samsung color thing just shows you how people have conformed to the unrealistic things they see through their phones
Wait hold up what happened to the HTC VIVE?
at 8:30 I said to myself: No way, who watches stuff like that? Proof me wrong if you have stuff like that on your fyp
zerk is saying hold my beer
Vision Pro target market is probably rich US tech reviewers... I don't have any apple devices, and if I would need to buy an Iphone, Ipad, apple laptop, Apple watch, or apple toilet paper to make use of it, that is a high barrier to entry.
TBH the Quest 3 is killing it compared to that $3500 price in every single aspect.
There is a clear answer: gamers and movie watchers want VR for immersion and regular people/general users want AR through glasses.
I think the market for MR (passthrough) headsets is a tiny niche. A niche that is already partially occupied by VR headsets.
BUT the vast majority of people simply don't want any screen strapped to their face
Let the zuck have this one. He honestly deserves it. Oculus was very very good buy
The Internet is full of low-quality AI content, even with today's technology. For the most part, the only people who have fully benefited from AI are digital marketers. More AI means more spam, in my opinion.
Waiting for Midjourney video generation tool
already started with the english accent class? ❤
Thanks alot
What happened to HTC, weren't they leading VR?
One thing is for sure Apple will never create a Metaverse. It might actually taint their product image. They want to keep up the illusion that all their users are affluent intellectual people.
Uhhhh that typo 😂
I think apple need a lot of improvement to be right they would make it become a ordinary thing. I don't think anyone would like a heavy headset on for using basic stuff like taking a call or watching video. It's just very inconvenient. They would need to somehow make user forget they are wearing some device. But to achieve that, the vision need to be cheaper, lighter, strain less and have longer battery (atleast 4 to 5 hour).
The Vision Pro is the first version, give it a break, it is priced for the business market. In the next few years you will see Apple will solve all the current problems. The price will come down as well.
People also can get used to things. Like carrying 240gram with big screen iPhone.
Headset can be middle ground between smartphone and laptop.
open AI will soon need more lawyers than engineers.
But I can't use Quest 3 on Apple, right?
Ah OpenAI, i believe it will become the next Big Tech company within this decade but there are two outcomes. 1. OpenAI becomes an actual Microsoft Line so basically MS OpenAI series like MS Azure, or 2. They break off from Microsoft and become a full fledge independent Tech Giant. Either are plausible.
2:30 From what I read it was the Taliban who revoked the domain. On the other hand, the community is said to have consisted of less than 100 members…
thank you
5:15 I dont think it is right to say that Meta focuses only on the VR. Many people use Meta Quest 3 the same way Apple suggests to use their Vision Pro.
Me personally, I'm more interested in mixed reality.
sucks to be wong
Happy friday
Look at the video with Mark, it shall be filmed vertically with a Quest 3, at one point we see a man that is saig he is filming, but try film like that with a Quast 3, steady as it would be on a tripod for a longer time and with so much space over Mark's head and cropped in that well at a distance like that. Is that a special Quest with digital stabilisation?
7:25 what zebras?
Did that laptop have vista!?
Nice segue lol
Mark was right, the people who wanted the windows are returning the headsets. VR is barely tolerable when gaming yet alone doing anything else.
Is this the same wong from Doctor Strange ? 😂
Hey Happy Friday 😊😊😄
Are apps for the Apple Vision not made specifically for that platform? If yes, then aren't the problems that the Quest has also present for the Apple Vision? I do not get your point tbh.
I honestly want to get rid of my phone too if it is somehow possible, and here people are talking about sticking AR and VR headsets on their heads.
Why is this not a top comment yet? 😂😂😂
@@albertnewtonify because you're in the comments section of a tech channel, and people who hate tech are in the woods building a cabin instead of here

Oversaturated colours on samsung's displays hurts my eyes. I absolutely hate it
8:50 People already get captivated by fictionnal movies, stories and even conspiracies. This will likely only increase our doomscrolling habits
A cinedot es un cine nuevo, ya entendí.
Vr is less dangerous ar now but when if people get addicted to vr then ar is the only way they get productive net minutes.. they should add age barrier so students don't get into vr
If vision pro can also play game then quest will face huge challenge, hope google is also planning to make it sense they denied meta play store, and we AI does not generate real humans and if they do it is with permission and for specific use case like movie
5:25 did you say that Apple can port de games to Apple? But I don't think Apple was never interested in porting anything to Apple.
Have you read about crabs in a basket?))) The world is full of crabs.
balls - I really like Edge so was looking forward to running it on iOS natively
(as an overlay to Safari its too much of a resource hog and drains, or at least used to, batt. big time)
they still might be motivated to do this if search is becoming chat/AI generated also business customers SSO/Edge on their desktop + market size (450M Europeans)
Macs have been getting games forever 😂😂😂
Goodluck vision pro
apple doesn’t even want VR games on Vision Pro right now…
Isn't it true that developers hate apple, for example just because of their 30% apple store fee?
VR or AR?
How about both?
In the sense that both apple and meta are wrong and both concepts are at best in the pre-pre-pre alpha early high concept phase and shouldn't be sold at all.
Sum ting wong
Quest and Vision Pro are similar products but they are targeting different audiences and use cases
Also just in: Middle finger Apple just killed PWA's on iOS in the EU.
As an owner of both headsets, the MQP is better at gaming (for now) whereas the AVP is better at literally everything else.
Nobody wants floating windows on something that heavy, Apple. We want games. Ready player one. We'd buy an iPad I We wanted apps on some big screen
That's not even a question of course they a cherry picked videos. They remind me of a dream world where odd things happen but we just accept it.
Your wrong about the flat apps on quest because its uses android it can run flat apps in it if they are sideloaded and there are already app stores that store most of the android apps then he can just use them
The only time I would want Zuck to win😂
I'm out of the loop, I still have no idea who's actually interested in these headsets outside of playing VR games..
Which doesn't make sense because iMessage is everywhere that Safari is, except that one time when Safari was on Windows for 5 years in early 2000.
Not true, a lot of people like the safari browser on their PC. Nobody uses Microsoft Edge, so there are a considerable number of 3rd party browsers with varying popularity
@@fady02 I was trying to make sense of why Safari was getting regulated but iMessage wasn't.
Safari is the only browser you can use on iOS or iPadOS (all the other browsers are forced to run the same engine as safari) and meets EU's market threshold requirements, so does iMessage according to their original case file from september but Apple managed to get a rebuttal on it in further investigation, the public text of the decision is not yet available so we'll know their reasoning in a few days.
Not everyone who has an iphone (in the eu) is using it. We have 3 iPhones but we rather use WA. At least i think thats how it works, dont quote me on that.@@REAL-UNKNOWN-SHINOBI
