Parts requiring configured text, such as date codes or serial numbers, can be difficult to program efficiently on CNC machines with a secondary operation. MLC CAD Systems has developed a Post Processor that can be used with Mastercam to program these numerical codes automatically. Serial numbers can be configured to automatically increment and date codes can be entered at the machine without requiring a new program or a secondary machine!

Could this be adapted for OKUMA? as well as alpha-numeric?

The answer is yes. The machine would have to be capable of running user macros. For some machines, this is an option with an additional cost from the respective manufacturer. The company’s mgmt. may or may not have purchased it for that machine. As long as they have this option, then we can adapt this to Okuma.
