Hey Hero, I dunno if this is a thing you might be interested in this but there is a sneaking suspicion that the mods for R/animemes vote manipulated the rule 5 update post. If you look at it it's got 3k upvotes which given the current situation of the subreddit is very suspicious. its also been proven that some of the mods have been going to other subreddits to address the current situation. Its most likely that the mods have been asking other subreddits to help keep that post in the positives and thus are vote manipulating it keep it in high votes, which by the way is against Reddits TOS. @Zombong0 To add to this one of the mods has implied publicly on some threads in the sub that they and a few other mods had not been included in discussions on or even informed about the rule change in advance. They just got to show up to a poorly implemented rule change and a giant shitshow and were expected to enforce the new rule despite being blindsided by the new rule themselves. So it isn't even a unanimous decision by the mod team like some of the mods are trying to make it appear. It really does seem that a few of the mods, one of the more vocal and vitriolic of which identifies as trans, is now pushing to extend the rule to include any possible terms whether they are implicit, explicit, implied or possible to misconstrue as derogatory or even offensive to any minority but especially to trans, and is already enforcing as if the rule as already been expanded to their new desired one. Now normally I don't mind moderation so long as it is sensible and or meaningful, the rules are clear, understandable, and visible for all, however this feels like and appears to be plain censorship of thought and language, in the name of moral superiority or social justice, pick your prefered name. Unlike some I do not think comparisons to Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 is undue, the censorship of that dystopia is started by people to quell topics that may potentially make people uncomfortable. The concept of linguistic determinism exists for a reason, our language really does restrict and limit our ability to think and express our ideas in very real ways. Censoring words ultimately constricts and controls the types of conversations that are possibleto be had otherwise. Banning the name of a character archetype because it may be used as a slur or has been appropriated by outside parties as a slur is censoring and it is self defeating especially when many archetypal traps are not trans. What is next we can't use the word fat, chubby, or large because it might offend someone. People have to remember how to talk to one another to give the benefit of the doubt and realize that because something may be offensive does not mean it automatically categorically is offensive and that intentions do matter. Also learn to laugh even, no, especially at yourself, it makes life so much more enjoyable not to always be serious. I believe we have found the new substitute Trap in emoji form. 🍯 - the "honeypot" is a tactic used by spies to trick opposing spies of the opposite gender into giving them info, hence a trap.
have you noticed that the mods are almost never responding to any of the criticisms, but are actually going in other subreddits to insult members of r/animemes? I find this to be outrageous. Could you make a video about this too? The word needs to know.
I got some information from somewhere where it was revealed that the mods of these subreddits tend to be the same peopl most of the time. That would explain slowly creeping cencorship that is happening on reddit. Not sure on the original claim tho.
My friend talked about how it was stupid and would never work on reddit and someone reported him for being "transphobic". It failed and he got the last laugh.
I know no one is going to read this but as a trans person myself and having a friend who is a femboy I find this ridiculous. The term trap is used to refer to fictional characters who look different from what they identify as in regard to gender. It is not a well-used slur for trans people. Granted it can be used as a slur however anything can be used as a slur. Their disregard to their own rule is also troubling to me. I don't find my femboy friend offensive at all. That's just the way he likes to present himself. Nor do I find fictional characters who are the same way offensive. Sorry for the rant I'm done now.
They forgot the whole purpose of a community we'll just have to wait till this quarantine stops for these retards to get out of our community so they can go back outside and not bother anyone because they're bored

Because there was a concerted effort to foster these kind of communities. Why? Because they are useful censorship tools. The government doesn't have to do squat, they just have to declare something 'oFfEnSiVe' and these woke folk will start attacking it.
It's time to vote man, before anime becomes illegal in general. Ass wipes in Australia are already trying to do that. Down with the woke left, leave my wifus alone!
@@fusionvideos6288 The main difference being that the Australian government is trying to set up a authoritarian surveillance state. That's not the same as arguments over whether slurs should be allowed in anime subreddits. Are you stupid?
Hiya I'm a trans girl myself and I won't lie this whole drama that is happening on the animemes subreddit I think is a tough one. While I disagree with yours and the majority of the subreddit's view about it not being a slur I do agree that the way the moderators are handling this is poor. The issue is though is that the word trap itself has been used as a slur against transgender people now, not necessarily from users of r/animemes but (as is the case with most things like this) a few problematic users who actually decided to use it as a slur against us, so that's why we're in the position that we are now with the word being banned. I've watched your latest video about the comic and you mentioned how this is like trans people being the blue haired girl at the table (r/animemes being the table in this case ig). I just want to say that this isn't the case at all, while the majority of our subreddits dislike the use of the word, myself included, we still had no bearing on what the mods decide to do. Imo I think it's just down to the mods being lazy since moderating a server and trying to weed out the real transphobes must be really tough /s. While I would like to see the word eventually become a more taboo word since it is a slur I think that what would have been better would be to start phasing it out slowly by getting rid of the actual problematic people first would have been better rather than just outright banning it, causing tension between weebs and trans weebs and everyone else. I probably wont be changing any minds here but I hope that you read this and understand this perspective I've subbed anyway since I like the discussion ^^
(Sorry for the long comment, you can skip to the end if you want where I summarize my thoughts about this issue) I understand your opinion and respect it, but I think the word shouldn't become a taboo word since it's roots are from a completely different thing than how it is handled nowadays (a slur against trans people). The word's original meaning is that of an archetype for character writing in (mostly) Japanese media, whether it is anime, manga or light novels. The fact that it turned into a slur against a community of real people is a heavy misuse of the word, but not the fault of the word itself. After all, absolutely no one was complaining when the word wasn't being use as a slur as much as it is now. As for the correct way of handling this issue, I do agree with you. The mods should start by ACTUALLY DOING THEIR WORK and banning the transphobes using the word in that way. That's what moderators are for, after all, since their work is to "moderate". Considering they can easily track down all the posts and comments against their own rule 5, they should be able to track down all the comments using that word but decide whether it's use is being handled one way or the other. Outright banning the word itself is dumb since most of the r/animemes community use the word as intended and the word itself is not at fault, but rather those that gave such a twisted meaning to it. Even if doing it is tough, they put themselves up to the task so at least they should try to put a little effort to it. Also, like many people are pointing out, many of the characters that fall under the "trap" archetype aren't even trans. Astolfo, who is like the first character you think about when saying the word, is a male by birth and STILL considers himself as male despite his effeminate appearance. Same goes for Felix from Re:Zero, Hideri Kanzaki from Blend S and Totsuka from Oregairu, among others. You probably already knew this, just wanted to point it out. Basically, what I mean is that the issue in r/animemes is all the mods' fault for not knowing how address nor deal with the word and the problem that using it as a slur creates and that both communities alike should work together to, at least, decrease the people who use it as a slur to a minimum (since we all know that a few people will continue to be douches no matter what). That second part might be hard, but not impossible, but at the very least mods should be able to help promote that (which, again, they aren't doing).
How far is this gonna go? Are they gonna ban words like: -deception -bait -snare -lure -dupe -ruse -ploy -scheme -stratagem -quagmire -hoodwink -cozen -cage -waylay -bamboozle -a m b u s h
I love the fact that people are people are making memes where they're turning Astolfo into anything that has "tr" at the start, trampoline, tractor, trebuchet

I'm sorry, now we have to refer you as ., because it's the most unoffensive name we could think of."
Btw this is not the only post that has been banned there are tons of other post getting banned because "breaking of a rule" that doesn't break any rules including the ban on the word trap just because they criticize the mods and or the rule
This sounds very similar to what's going on with non-Anime related stuff from the US. Marvel, Disney, CBS: all forcing their politics onto others because it's "their moral right". I have 3 reasons this is failing. 1: Not everyone cares for politics, and those that do want to *avoid* it in their escapism. 2: The word "trap" isn't just about cute anime boys who cross-dress and be effective females. 3: Trying to prove you're morally right means you're morally wrong. Guess they got a sip of that Wokeness juice being passed along to those in positions of power. This screams catering to the Cult of Wokeness, and it'll backfire.
This is just like what's happening to D&D with the removal of "Race" from the language of the game and potentially doing away with racial bonuses and abilities. D&D is now going to crash and burn because everyone is just gonna not buy their woke reworking of D&D to please people who don't even play it.
here's an idea: post that images of trap, and in below write in impact "They are the Truth" because Truth also has T and R in the same order as Trap. i really wonder if it'll getting banned lol.

I got some information from somewhere where it was revealed that the mods of these subreddits tend to be the same peopl most of the time. That would explain slowly creeping cencorship that is happening on reddit. Not sure on the original claim tho.

Trick or Trap
I know no one is going to read this but as a trans person myself and having a friend who is a femboy I find this ridiculous. The term trap is used to refer to fictional characters who look different from what they identify as in regard to gender. It is not a well-used slur for trans people. Granted it can be used as a slur however anything can be used as a slur. Their disregard to their own rule is also troubling to me. I don't find my femboy friend offensive at all. That's just the way he likes to present himself. Nor do I find fictional characters who are the same way offensive. Sorry for the rant I'm done now.

Communists. Not even joking.
Because there was a concerted effort to foster these kind of communities. Why? Because they are useful censorship tools. The government doesn't have to do squat, they just have to declare something 'oFfEnSiVe' and these woke folk will start attacking it.

Tbh I'm surprised all the people in the sub haven't just migrated into a different anime memes sub completely
Hiya
I'm a trans girl myself and I won't lie this whole drama that is happening on the animemes subreddit I think is a tough one.
I probably wont be changing any minds here but I hope that you read this and understand this perspective
I've subbed anyway since I like the discussion ^^
(Sorry for the long comment, you can skip to the end if you want where I summarize my thoughts about this issue)
I understand your opinion and respect it, but I think the word shouldn't become a taboo word since it's roots are from a completely different thing than how it is handled nowadays (a slur against trans people).
The Yugioh card "Trap Trick" just got double banned.

Did they learn anything from being roasted and HACKED!? This just escalated another level.

Confucious say: Give power to fools, expect a clusterfuck.
When will companies learn we buy their products to escape from political junk, not get more of it.
